Ohhh I'm so friggin' excited.

I've only got 8 more months till I get my permit.

For my birthday my mom is buying me any car I can get for $15,000-

It's not going to be a great car, but that much will be pretty friggin' decent for a first car.

I've got my eyes on a nice Pontiac G6 ^_^

Wow. Spoiled kids never cease to amaze me. Yes, $15,000 for a first car is only "decent".

Must be nice to have mommy's money. Geeze.

Poopingman, get off the whole "ricer" thing. Noone cares anymore if someone is a ricer or not. Get over it.

Wrong.

No, seriously. Noone cares. The Fast and the Furious is over. It's done with. Move on.

Yeah, I don't see the problem with liking a car with that kind of style? You don't have to race to like a car like that.

Wrong again.

I would hope that the fad caused by the movie(s) is over, but thats only a small part of this. Its completely cool that you are impartial to the whole ricer scene, I wish I was like you. However I, and thousands of other people, are sick of the public disturbances, and the bad name they give car modders as a whole.

I mean, all I did was ask Om_S what his stance on car modification is, since he admitted to owning a Skyline as his FIRST car. Something to definetely raise some eyebrows.

So whatever reason you want to rail on me for my displeasure of ricers, I don't think its worth turning this thread into a flame-war.

Disliking ricers is fine. It's when you use stereotypes to label someone a ricer; that's when it gets rediculous.

Its "Ridiculous", and I never called him a ricer. I asked him if he was one, theres a big difference.

My '92 skylark cost $300 O.o

we then replaced the battery and are in the midst of replacing the exhaust system. There was another problem that I have forgotten.. and I still havn't driven it :?

Was it still worth 300? I doubt it.

On the side, to buy a Bundera (stock) would be about 1K at the cheapest, to mod it out like I listed would be another 10K or more depending on who you went to to get it done.

Okay firstly, I typed my post wrong, I was tired.

Secondly, alot of the money is my own, I worked for about $6000 of it and my family pitched in the rest (I'm one of the only 3 kids in this generation of my family, so we get alot most of the time.)

Let me edit it and you might get it better -_-

You asserted that he's a ricer because of the car he drives. That is stereotyping.

I believe you've said you drive a Camaro...Should I ask you if you are a backwards hick? Because most of them are stereotyped as driving Camaro's.

How is asking someone a question assertion? I'm asking him the question because he relayed information that would label him as suspect of being well...a ricer.

Sure, ask me if I'm a hick, I don't care, haha. I know I'm not, and will say exactly that. If someone would judge me on such a callous point, they're opinion is meaningless to me.

My first car was a 1974 Gremlin.

Among its many fabulous features it had:

  •

Faded orange paint with black racing stripes.

4.2 liter straight 6 with a Holly carb.

Oversized snow tires on the back that rubbed on the wheel wells when too many of my friends were piled in the tiny back seat.

3 speed on the floor that often got stuck in 2nd and sometimes came completely out of the floor, if I pulled too hard.

A front end that shimmied something awful after I wiped out in a snowbank after spinning around in the middle of the freeway 3 or 4 times.

:D Man! I loved that car! :D

Just here for the ride!

I made a fool of myself? Okay...

You said "How is asking someone a question assertion? I'm asking him the question because he relayed information that would label him as suspect of being well...a ricer.", correct? Correct. You jsut answered your own question. How is it an assertion? It's an assertion because you stereotyped him on the CAR he drives, as being a ricer. You knew NOTHING about him, just the car he drove. A skyline, which, uhhh, so what? It's some stupid car made in Japan favoured by Import Enthusiasts...A "Ricer" couldn't afford a Skyline, anyways.

Then you said "Sure, ask me if I'm a hick, I don't care, haha. I know I'm not, and will say exactly that. If someone would judge me on such a callous point, they're opinion is meaningless to me.", correct? Correct. What you just said is that you'd find someone's opinion meaningless if they judged you based on the type of car you drive. Which is exactly what you did the the guy above.

And I'm the fool? 'Kay.

You're missing some pretty big details....if he only said he drove a skyline, I probably wouldn't have bothered. LOOK at the image he posted, he said his skyline was "Like that but different colors." I know what to look for, so I chose to ask.

Moving on, you should just back off and let him answer the original question (if he even wants to bother now), instead of acting like his self-proclaimed lawyer, haha.

You don't even know what a ricer is. The image he posted wasn't a ricer. That was most likely a sponsered race car of some sort. Ricer's just play pretend.

We aren't talking about the image.

He said his car looked similar to that.

We know hes not a sponsored race car driver.

Anyone that knows anything about rice would draw the same conclusion I did.

I have a Nissan Skyline which my parents bought for me in college during my year and also an Acura RSX 2001

my skyline is similar to this one but just different colors

D A M N !

I thought I was lucky with the car I got.. That thing is NICE. I want to get one of those some day (along with 2 other dream cars..)

Also, I just got my license last night! I had to take a driving test and I missed 24 points out of a possible 35 I was allowed to miss. I'm happy other than my dad cancelled the insurance on my car for the winter tonight.. Now I get my mom's Jeep Grand Cherokee for the winter.. Not as cool but I guess it will work.

You're not a ricer, are you? :? I know you probably wouldn't admit it anyway, but when parentals bought you your "Skyline" I have to ask.

well I'll tell u one thing, I AM Asian and also, my skyline kind of looks like that but with different colors, I tuned the car up after a year of having it with parts I ordered on the the internet except I bought the wheels and amplifiers on my own. Needed my friends help since he was a better mechanic than me

1988 Chevy Caprice with GTO rims, 350 V8 engine. Two-tone blue, it gets me places.

I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.
