Seanthorn
i'm 78 at the moment, and very unpatient. Every guide i've seen is:- "Mine iron, drop iron, powermine, get runners!" It took me around 15 minutes to get 5k xp.... I can't mien granite cause i'm a non-member now... so has anybody got any suggestions to do? I want fast xp, but powermining is so damn boring! Any loations that are good?

KaNaRu
If the power mining iron wasn't good, people would not suggest you that. Power mining iron is the best way mate for an F2P... Good luck to 85 mining
Goobore
i'm 78 at the moment, and very unpatient... Well, I got level 85 mining in F2P using the 3 iron rocks along the north-west side of the Al-Kharid scorp mine. My technique was whack the south rock, whack the west rock, then whack the north rock (no moving required), and then drop, drop, drop. Spin south, and by that time, the first (south) rock has usually respawned. It's very boring but probably the fastest that F2P can do. It will take you, at most, 46554 rocks to reach your goal. Use a busy world to lower the respawn times. Since you can probably 1 hit the iron and are dropping it, other players may be happy to get all of that free ore quickly. Set yourself a goal of a few hours every day and stick to it. Also, get yourself some headphones and a good CD. Hope this helps
Nel Tu Oderschvank
well, i did your method and this is what i found out although it may or may not be accurate but it's just my guide. I found out that the process of mining 3 rocks and dropping them while waiting for respawn takes abt 8 sec. i.e. mine 1st, mine 2nd, mine 3rd, drop, drop, drop, spin around.rock spawns = 8 seconds So you'lll mine abt 21 to 22 iron per minute. Therefore you can mine 1260 to 1320 iron in an hour which is = 44100 to 46200xp per hour. For me, i am lvl 75 mining and i need at least 2million plus xp to lvl 85, meaning i will need at least 48 hours of gaming-mining time to reach there..... :uhh: Whatever it is, good luck to ye all who wants to reach 85!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PEACEZ~~~
Goobore
...I found out that the process of mining 3 rocks and ... = 8 seconds That sounds about right... ...i will need at least 48 hours of gaming-mining time to reach there..... Yeah, it will take awhile. Then, when you get to 85, you get to look forward to being ganked by the Runite ore PKers just waiting to relieve you of your hard earned prize. That what Jagex calls F2P "fun" Members have another 4 Runite ore rocks that they can mine.
Rednik
You need patience if you want mining lvl 85... There is no way that gets you to that level in a few hours.
mbrun
Try goin to Dorgeshun Mines and power mining iron. U can sell the iron ore to goblins down there. Probably easier than dropping as u go. Barrows Drops: Guthan's platelegs and War Spear, Dharok's plate body and Great Axe, Verac's Flail, Verac's Helm x 2, Ahrim's top, Dharok's plate legs Dragon Drops: Medium Helm x 4, Shield Left Half, plate legs x 2, skirt x 2. Freesia
Powermining is the fastest way already, if you can't stand it already, don't dream about rune  Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(. Nel Tu Oderschvank
well i think most things respawn faster in busier world to so-call "cater" to the needs of so many Scapers. Ores, item spawns, monsters etc....

transcript80
Since runescape is about fun, I hate powermining. Sure, I want lvl 99 of everything, but the boredom that it takes to get there spoils the fun in the game. In my opinion, this is what couses a lot of the "i'm so bored I'm gonna quit" threads I see in general P2P. So get it gradually, use the mined ores for smelting/smithing and up your stats or earn some money. You most certainly get it slower, but I'm sure you won't quit half way of boredom or RSI. gda_scooby
i'm sure someone will pipe up - 42 hours, you can do that in 3 days AND Sleep! But realistically, whenever i am leveling, i mine to the next lvl of either my mining or smithing. That way I can break up the mining (if i want to) with a little of something else. CharlieBrown
42 hours? you could do that in 3 days AND sleep!!!!! lol Um, yes power mining is your best chance, well only chance. elmo_killer6
ive got a method that involves smithing and mage (55 to high alch) too mine some coal and mith in the mining guild and use the spell that makes bars out of ores. next youll need a hammer with you go to the anvils on the othert side of the mine and make into mith 2h then alch the 2h rinse and repaeat good mage, smithing, and mining exp as long as you have the mage level and nats EDIT: just checked youre stats and it looks like you cant high alch or smith mith 2h so i guess this wont work for you sorry
Seanthorn
Okay, i've read all the posts. I've found out this is the easiest was to powermine. Mine 28 Drop 3 Mine 3 Drop 3 Mine 3 (Until a runner comes...) (If you have one) With that, i got about 50k xp in an hour.

You may want to keep an open spot in your inventory, when mining, for the occasional gemstone.
