StrOwez
Well today was a normal holiday morning, I woke up and went onto the computer. My mother went to the shops, she came back an hour later and rang the bell, and this was unusual because she has keys. I didn't see it at first but she said she found a bird, and in her hands was a pigeon. My first reaction to this was 'Oh days' and i ran into another room and then back, because I'm not the biggest fan of pigeons. After i saw the poor pigeons face I wanted to cry  he kept blinking slowly and you can sense he is in pain. I wanted to take care of him, so my mother and me put him in a box - his in shock so is not moving. Put a little water and some bread crumps a long side of him - my mother put some anti pain killing cream on his wing- it looks to be broken. We wrapped him around in a blanket and put him in the box, covered the box with a towel so that he doesn't see any light and might come feel relaxed. God i wish he will be better, and that's the weird thing. I usually am casual to pigeons calling them 'flying rats' etc But seeing a living thing in pain and alone made me respect them and changed my way of thinking in some ways. I'll keep you guys in progress of how he is doing. (or she :-k ) 30:min later - Things seemed to be going better he drank some water and ate some bread, then as he drank some more he put his head underneath his body and stopped moving. He has died, the experience made me realise how preciouse a living thing is and the effect it has one you. I've lost my appetite and have a feeling that someone is taking my breath away  dang i liked that pigeon. A friend to all is a friend to none. jak722
I used to keep pigeons years ago. Bred quite a few of them too. :-k Quite messy birds they are, yeah. But once trained, they can be quite fun to look at. Hopefully your pigeon isnt too hurt or anything. If it doesn't eat or drink, you can try a medicine dropper to feed it. They'll probably eat cooked rice too. :) The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. assassin_696
Do you live in the UK? If so call the RSPCA. They'll know what to do. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
warri0r45
nice story, but to be honest, when i saw the title, i thought u meand Glenn Mcgrath (Aussies would understand) hope the bird gets better. I kind of have a similar story actually, a little sad. My brother bought a duck, and didnt treat it well. Once, it was left out, and my dog chased it and kind of hurt it. To see it breathing heavily with a limped wing and kind of on the verge of dying kind of makes you really sad (if you care for animals). It was eventually ok,(i think) and released into the wild... i cost like 12$ i think.. kind of depressing how you can put that kind of value on a living, breathing thing, maybee im over-thinking this too much. o well, take it easy yall. Hobgoblin11
Do you live in the UK? If so call the RSPCA. They'll know what to do. The RSPCA don't deal wit pidgeons, in thesame way as they don't deal with rats or squirrels. Thats quite cute, we've had to deal with a few hurt or dying birds because our cat got em, they usually end up dying but its worth a try. Don't give it anyting like paracetamol, it is far too strong for the size of animal, even if you break it down. 99/99 Fletching, 99/99 Cooking, 96/99 Strength

I did work experience at a veterinarian hospital and someone managed to hit a pidgeon with their car and brought it in. Nothing serious, just a little shook up, they just gave it a quick check over and let it go. RSPCA don't help squirrels? :( Even red squirrels or just the grey menace? Militaris
Last night when I was about to drive into town in light rain. I was halfway along our driveway and in the middle sitting there was a juvenile bird. Just big enough to jump out of a nest but not nearly old enough to survive. At first I thought it was a small pheasant (Before looking) so got out but it turned out to be a thrash or something common. The little thing just watched me with big eyes then kept on opening its mouth wanting food. I felt so sorry for the small bugger I went to the garden and gave it a worm to eat, then I got a large one from the compost and he ate that to. I even made a small nest for it in a shoe box and put it to bed in the shed. Probably to be expected it was dead by morning.

I'm sorry to hear about the bird. We had a similar situation with a squirrel, except that he lived and is now mature and healthy. So don't worry, it doesn't always end so badly. And of course, if your mom hadn't found him, he would've died anyway, but at least he got a few more hours and one last meal before his death. :) "In so far as I am Man I am the chief of creatures. Phil
I've seen quite a lot of dying animals as we used to have quite a lot of pets. I've also seen a few dying birds and mice and it's still sad when I see it.

jemathonical
I have had this experience many times, normally they would die within hours but one time we kept one alive for 3 or 4 days. I started to get attached to it because I thought that it would live and i could be its 'mum'. Yeh, but, it died and I didn't know what to feel ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it! rushrock
One time, my mom found a stray cat in our woods. She is allergic to animals, so she was pretty brave to take it into our house. She bathed it, made it a place to sleep, and fed it some food and water. We named her Angel. Sadly, the cat died the next morning. It was pretty sad. Militaris
Living on a farm, as children we brought back quite a few weak animals and birds. With the exception of dumped kittens, most died within a week. Had a few young rabbits survived, but most die, our pet cat killed quite a few. Can not remember a bird surviving.
