January 4, 200719 yr Recently I've noticed the "What country do you live in?" thread get filled with posts about how we feel about places we live. So I've decided to make a post for that very reason, to clean up that thread a little. So on this thread, just state where you live, and then say some pros/cons/dislikes/likes about where you live, you can do your state if you live in the US, or your province if you live in Canada, or your region if you live elsewhere. And I don't want any, 'There's nothing I don't like about my country!', or 'I hate my country!' posts. The first is not possible, for there is always something you don't like, and the latter needs to be elaborated. Me doing staff.
January 4, 200719 yr Well lets see....Michigan, United States. Pros: Sometimes its 65 in January. Right now its Jan 4th, and we have yet to see more than 2 inches of snow all Winter....TOTAL. Cons: Sometimes its 20 in April. I've seen it snow in MAY up here, so random because of all of the lakes around us. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....
January 4, 200719 yr Virginia, USA. Pros: Dunno.. haven't really been here long lol. We moved here and 2 months later I went to college for my first semester. Cons: Dunno that either. Haven't been here long enough.
January 4, 200719 yr I could be thought of as living in several places. Cumbria (Lake District) + Beautiful. + Friendly people. + Comparatively low crime. + Very bloody cheap car insurance. - Insular. Some people never leave the area they were born in. - Few shops. Have to go to a big city to buy things like clothes. - Lots of driving to get places, large distances between civilisations. - No culture. Manchester + Lots of shops. - CHAVS CHAVS CHAVS - SCALLIES SCALLIES SCALLIES - Lots of crime compared to Cumbria and, to a lesser extent, Leeds. - Still not much culture. - No nice countryside nearby. Leeds + The house is in a nice area. + Lots of shops, better for that than Manchester in my opinion. + Lots of culture. + Fewer chavs and scallies than in Manchester. + Countryside more accessible than in Manchester. - Still more chavs and scallies than in Cumbria. - Still more crime than in Cumbria. I'm probably going to choose Leeds as my base of operations.
January 4, 200719 yr South Wales - United Kingdom I hate all the chavs that I live around, for example: I was walking down the local shop to pick up some stuff for my Dad. On my way I have to pass the Chip shop which is ALWAYS surrounded by about 30 chavs. I walked past and one said "Nice shoes, haha". I turned around and said "Shut the -swear word- up. Idiot." and I was immediately circled by about 10 of them. As I'm a pretty big person for my age, people mis-interperate how old I am and think I'm older, so I said "It takes 10 of you to pick on a 15 year old, does it? Well, if that's what it takes, I'll call my cousin's... I took the phone outta' my pocket and dialed a fake number and said "Hey Ash'... Get Bradley and Stephen to grab a few of the boys and get down by the chipshop." The one said to the 'leader': "Leave him, I've heard Ashley took out a guy in The Royal(a local pub) last week and it ended up pretty bad. So I shoved him and walked off smirking. :D Funnily enough, I walked back the same way and none of them said a word. Taste of their own medicine would do them good. Moving on from the bad things... The good things: Local skatepark (about a mile or two away). A few good schools. Cardiff is the capital, so we have a very good city quite local. It's a very mountainous area where I live which is really cool, lots of open space. I'm sure I can think of a few more. All-in-all, I'm happy that I live here but as said, I would like to live an American Lifestyle, without the cholesterol. -Mitch New sig to come!
January 4, 200719 yr LONDON FTW!!!! - Famous place, lots of famous people, 'yeah I bumped into Cliff Richards the other day, met Bob Marley down the high street and oh yeah Bob Geldof was in the butchers looking for bacon' :D :D - has a great historic interest - so much to do! so many places to go! - In general very nice people - Excitingness about living in one of the worlds greates cities - huge choice of jobs, work, schools, residential areas - amazing cultural captivation - theatres, cinemas, markets, festivals, music - all the famous bands come to london to perform, so it's usually quite easy to get tickets to various things - beautiful buildings - Litter everywhere - too much smoking - chavs - quite a bit of crime - ugly buildings

January 4, 200719 yr People say my state name wrong. CSI is based in Nevada, yet in their hundreds of episodes, they can't say it right...They pronounce the first 'A' wrong. Nevada: People who don't live here, and mess up saying it: Neh-Vah-Duh The real pronunciation: The news in Nevada: It's pretty boring in Reno. Basically, Nevada in general... I <3 Gears of War 2. Add me on Xbox Live and mention you are from Tif :D
January 4, 200719 yr Author Neh-Vah-Duh Isn't that just the American accent? :? I've always pronounced it that way. I don't see how you could really pronounce it wrong? :? Me doing staff.

I'm glad we don't have them here, doesn't sound like a pleasant group of people. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....

January 4, 200719 yr    You couldn't be more wrong. Chavs are poor scum. Chavs arn't nessecarily poor. I deem 'chav' to be a mix of poor fashion sense, bad attitude and general lack of respect for others and property. Some essential chav wear (if not bought on a corner 'second hand') is pretty expensive. Real Fred Perry, Berghaus and Addidas all sell for quite a bit. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!

January 4, 200719 yr Northampton, England. well in a village nearby. where i live, i like: the night life, because me and my mates can afford it and its same distance for everyone. the culture, the friends, the groups of people of different friends the town isnt great, but i love it. its not more than an hour by train to london or birmingham. i don't like: the dirtiness of the city centre, and the cleanliness of the village i'm in, its so contrasting. chavs around the area, the ones that think they're gangsta and are not, there are some that are alrite tho. although i like it, i can't wait to move... hopefully to southampton, but thats later this year. -Destroy Topham-

Cons: Sometimes its 20 in April. I've seen it snow in MAY up here, so random because of all of the lakes around us. Yeah, I dislike the massive weather swings too in Michigan. I hate snow in general, unless there's a ton of it and it's impossible to drive. But driving in it's a mess, walking throught it's a mess unless you're dressed for it, and I hate such cold temperatures unless I'm really dressed for it - as in the kind of clothes you wear when you're playing in the snow. By the way, when has it snowed in May? I don't remember that. :s @Viktor: Guessing your dislike about where you live is that it's not in Europe? :P
January 4, 200719 yr Author @Viktor: Guessing your dislike about where you live is that it's not in Europe? :P No, I just don't much care for Michigan and it's horrible economy, and very high crime rate. Though I will say that some parts are really nice, and the water is to die for. =P~ BTW I wish we had a word for those kind of people in America. We usually call them gansta, or ghetto, or something like that. Me doing staff.
January 4, 200719 yr The worse thing in the Los Angeles Area is the weather. From March-November its hot. The rest are cool and mild. The lowest tempature is probably 45F and only happens in winter. -.- Also the bloody traffic we got. #-o 6-10 AM, 2-9PM the freeways are filled with traffic. Plus its how they built the freeways, most of them close 1 lane and open another at random places :wall: And when theres a car with a cop parked on the shoulder, NO MATTER WHAT the damn traffic starts. We got no good subway/train system here so you gotta use a car where ever you go. So the smog levels are high. :-X The only good thing I can think about right now is In-N-Out. =P~ Goodie buger resturant.
