F2p Mage Proposal *Read it now!* 105 supporters!!!!

I totally agree, mage need a little extra because the balance compared to melee and range is unfair.

No not mystic robes etc. I think those should stay p2p (although it would be sweet...I am f2p myself).

But maybe some stat boosting legs, gloves a/o cape. Boots are probably out of the question since no attack form gets them...eh correct since the barbarian village mini game (forgot the name)...there are boots for melee that boost stats a little.

The argument that we get trimmed and gold is invalid....they just look pretty but don't change the stats.

Bottom line: I support the idea but not upto a level of making p2p items f2p. Maybe some new items that will be available to both.

good luck with the campaign komodoman!!!

I think I reliazed why you only have 18 supporters for so many pages. First I want to assert that I am F2P.

Ok, your point is that F2P NEEDS new robes because F2P mage is too weak in the wilderness. A couple of others have had the main point that F2P DESERVES the new robes. Its hard to use "f2P" and "needs"/"deserves" in the same post without a massive flame war erupting, which almost started here.

Either way, Jagex is going to have to approve of this, and although they DO get money from the adverts, its not as important to them as new members. So instead of saying, " F2P needs/deserves robes because..." say, "P2P will benefit from F2P getting new robes by....." So here is my suggestion.

PLAN 1.

Make the new robes buyable from a store in members servers, but make the robes tradeable to F2P. This way members make profit from buying/selling these new robes.

Now you say, "But Zaaps, that would skyrocket prices just like treasure trails! " Well, you fail to understand what I mean, and I'll be using an example to better explain myself. As we know, colored gloves are P2P obtainable, and F2P useable. Is the price high? No. Is it hard to get in P2P? No. Is it hard for F2P to get? Yes, leading to more people wanting to become members, while the robes are still available.

PLAN 2.

Now you complain "but it would make the robes hard for us to get!" ok, heres another plan for you. Make the robes craftable, but add a special ingredent that is extremely hard to get F2P, yet pathetically easy to get P2P.

42-boots

43-hat

46-skirt

48-body

The materials would be blue/red dye, cloth(e), and needle+thread.

The cloth(e) is enchanted cloth made by taking cloth to a unique altar in the wilderness guarded by some new high leveled monster ( no drops except ashes ). Upon defeating the monster you can enter the altar and enchant as many cloths as you can hold for a fee of 1 cosmic and 5 airs per cloth.

P2P can simply buy the cloth(e) from the crafting guild for 50 gp each. ( a new stall will be added, you can steal from it with 20 thieving )

Hopefully with either of those methods, Jagex will be more willing to add F2P mage robes because it will not only benefit P2P, but also convince more people to become members.

Hope it helps, it wasn't created to offend but to suggest.

i would really like it if this idea came to be. I think the easiest or best way to do so would just make maybe one color of mystic be able to be traded to f2p/in f2p worlds. Probably blue mystic.

Tho i would like to have a better mage armor, I think it's sort of fair how they have it set up right now.

We have very limited mage armor, but have the ability to make our own runes, even if we can't make every kind of rune.

With ranging we're restricted from the 3 d'hides, snakeskin and Karils, etc.. but still have much better range armor possibilities than mage, but dont have the option to make our own arrows or bows. (even tho fletching is mostly just a moneymaker [when combined with hi alching])

Overall, i'll go ahead and say i support this, but trust me; I definitely can live without it, but it'd still be a cool thing to happen

I can't say I support, but I can't say I think they shouldn't be an update anyway. F2p desire an update once and awhile, and I think that they should get it but there are also alot of very good opposing reasons, so I'm going to have to stay neutral, but good luck on your suggestion anyway.

Low level pure mages are overpowered enough. The new stuff at least needs some sort of requirements such as 50 defence.

I agree f2p could use some new stuff, but it does not need it. Jagex is a company, its purpose is to make money. Tthey probably couldn't care less about how unhappy anybody is with f2p, unless it makes possible customers quit.

Stuff like this makes membership seem even better, so more people buy membership, and jagex makes more money.

Its not up to you or anyone else to decide whether adding more mage stuff to f2p will make membership less inviting or not, it is obviously Jagex's.

Also, why mage? Why not new ranging stuff? Or more prayers? Or quests?

This isn't any different to all the other threads about how f2p should get more stuff. This topic has been discussed so much there really is nothing left, It is Jagex's choice not to give f2p updates and there really isn't anything anybody can do about it.

That is why I doubt Jagex will listen to this, and have they listened to any whining about f2p that has been done in the past? Nope.

1. Mage because mage is the problem, not melee, not ranged, not prayer, not quests those two are just fine the way they are, the inbalance in the combat triangle is coming from the weakness of mage after 50 combat.

2. This is different from others because of the facts that:

a. I'm not whining, this is whining:

I don't think that if you pay you shouldn't get over 300 things to make. Us F2P need more skills to help with the economy. Fletching is nice and good for rangers and it should be for all. We should get construction because I waited years for construction and I have to pay. Some guilds we deserve, like the fishing guild. Everyone can fish, but only members can go to the guild. With magic, we get no real good magic for the F2P Pkers or guys who go dragon running on Crandor. The best magic is for members only, and I don't think they should get all the real good ones such as: Fire Wave, Air Wave, and Earth Wave. Runecrafting should be better. F2P shouldn't have to search and search for runes to buy, like law and chaos runes. F2P players should, if they can craft high runes, have to do a bit more to make them. With smithing, we get only a few furnaces and they're miles away from the mine or the anvils. Take the dwarven mine for example. It has up to adamantite, and it has anvils, but it it doesn't have a furnace. You would have to go to Falador through the Miners' Guild, if you can, head to the furnace, and go back to the anvils. Doric would be faster to get to instead of just going back to the mine. I think there should be a furnace in every big town. Varrock has lots of things but a furnace. As for the miscellaneous guilds, we deserve the Warriors', Rangers', and especially the Magicians' guild. Some PKers like to make pures and making pures would be a lot easier by having a good guild they could go to. The Heros' and Legends' Guilds should be for anybody. It is to show that they play a lot and got good at the game. I know this is off topic, but I think you should change the Miners' Guild level back to 40 because when people get in there, they'll need plenty of coal, and that's about all they have in there besides a few mithril rocks. As for items, we deserve Dragon equipment. If any of you have played Diablo 2, Dragon weapons and armor are like uniques, you have to keep on fighting and searching to get them because they're godly, and the only godly equipment F2Players get is rune, wizard equipment, and green dragonhide. Dragon is so rare that we should be allowed to have. I have never seen anybody have Dragon on except in screenshots on this site. I'm not asking for a lot, but I want the members to stop receving all the new stuff.

That, my friends is whining, so go yell at him not me.

b. What I am doing is making what could be a reasonable suggestion if you would give it a chance and a little CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. I am not whining or demanding.

I see that many people here continue to babble on about why F2P doesn't get new stuff. Well, they obviously not only get flamed and report, but they also don't read past posts. In a previous post, I said:

Now why did I just basicly re-post what I said? Because it replies my answer to what many have said on this page.

Oh, they have listened in the past. Only reason you think they haven't is because F2P can't post on offical forums. Hah! you say, no they haven't, your making stuff up!. Look through any of the past suggestions here, some of them were accepted.

yea i havent ever thought of it but if jagex wants people to pay for better hes not going to give them better till the pay... so i guess the robes for p2p is ok. But i am a f2p so dont think im doing this for my pleasure.. im doing it cause its the truth

The sentence above is true.

yes i realize you think im being rude but its the truth, you don tpay you dont get, if jagex makes you hate f2p so badly you want to get p2p they just did there job. f2p is suppose to make you want p2p. Your just being ignorant by wanting things you dont deserve.

and about how you cant afford it, thats a lazy excuse. If you can afford a computer and pay a monthly bill for internet you can afford 5 dollars a month. And if by some reason you couldnt i could think of lots of things that could earn you 5 dollars a month even if you werent old enough for a real job...

So, F2P deserve some good updates too...

I support :), eventhough am a P2P.

I have found two conflicts:

1. If p2p robes are given to f2p that might cause an unbalance in power for the f2p combat triangle, same thing with giving you guys snare and the wave spells and then if p2p get even stronger ones that will cause an even greater disturbance in the balance.

2. Many members would be quite angry if waves + p2p robes were given to f2p and they might see no need in being a p2p mage if they have the waves & robes.

I never said that they would be giving both to f2p, I said:

1. It's a suggestion

2. They'd only do one of these if they did do it, not 2 or more

3. And giving f2p a new set of robes as long as its not above blue mystic probably wouldn't upset the triangle much.

i'll support it. i wish jagex would give f2p mystic though, and give p2p something better than mystic, but less than ahrims or something really good...like infinity....maybe...i dunno :-k

well, i support this. I havent read all the the thread, topic, w.e... i only read about half the first page of this n saw sum1 said that if jagex gives us better stuff there will b less n less n less members, then sum1 said: oh, i dint realize a small mage set would b a giant problem. I agree with that: a small mage set wont b a giant problem, but wut if we c it from another point of view? there r lots of campaigns that support hmm... idk guilds or more bank space 4 f2p or new interfaces n things lyk that. all of them think that small request 4 sumthing more 4 f2p wont affect members. But if Jagex does accepts all that n puts all that cool stuff 4 f2p? then that will b a giant problem there will b less reasons 4 members 2 b members. E.g: sum1 bcame p2p bcuz he is lvl 90 mage n wants better mage stuff, then Jagex turns idk... lets say... splitbark armour 4 f2p, then that member will think: "well... im a mage n theres better mage stuff 4 f2p, then y i am member? just 4 that stuff i almost never use? thats not worth those $5 i pay every month" then that member will bcome f2p. im not trying 2 focus on the mage stuff, im trying 2 focus on: most of the campaigns 4 better stuff wont b accepted by jagex bcuz they know this kind of problems will happen. I still support this, lol

Why even try with that idiot? Honestly, there is no point whatsoever. I'd get better replies if I argued with a tree stump.

They wouldn't put more than one in per month/year anyway, so it truly wouldn't become too great a problem.
