DeathSpray Posted January 7, 2007 Share Posted January 7, 2007 This picture shows an example of a captcha, used to allow carbon-based organisms log in, and to keep everything else out. Now why can't we have something like this on RuneScape? It would greately impede the autoers' onslaught, since these are designed for confusing bots so they can't log in. As an additional bonus, they should only consist of 3-5 letters, and thus will not take long to decipher, therefore completely ELIMINATING the need for those annoying randoms. In my opinion, most randoms are unnecessary and usually only serve as many minor annoyances to a player that adds up. Besides, if there were about 100 autoers cutting down Yew Trees behind Varrock Castle, chances are that only about 1 or 2 of them will be caught in a random in about an hour. Is this good enough? The only way I can see to get rid of more autoers and still not inconvenience players more than it should, is with the captcha. Are YOU carbon-based? I'm pretty sure bots can scan the "word" or the image and input it easily. it must be warped to block bots. Good idea, might get annoying, but its helpful. Now THAT'S annoying, considering all I get as a reward is 500 coins, and the fact that nature runes are kind of a semi-rare drop from moss giants. In fact, assuming Big Bones are 300 each, and nature runes are 300 each, I just lost 1.6K, PLUS I have to help him with his little job. And please don't make it between colors, a) bots'd get through probably B) I know there's people who play RS who are color blind to some degree (I know, I'm one of them), just like they changed the box event to shapes. Because if you mined an ore, and you didn't have room for it, it would automatically drop. When fatigue came in, there we NO autoers... at all If you need to stop to restore your "fatigue" by resting in a sleeping bag (yes, we did have them) to stop people autoing, I say bring back the fatigue! This move by jagex would slow the economy as there would be less iron, coal and other ores coming into the economy, but it would reduce the amount of non-carbon based life forms down to near zero, and isn't that what Runescape is about?
