January 20, 200719 yr So, I know there are bands out there that pretty much decide to break every musical rule there is yet, in the end, sound completly amazing? I'm currious if anyone knows any that follow that. I personaly have two: - Aarni. I've just started listening to this guy (just listening to samples on myspace atm) and its such a unique band. It's a mixture of anything from Jazz to doom metal to prog and it really mixes it up. For example, one song could start with a flute and then go into a slow, dooming guitar riff only to pick up in beat. Very odd but sounds amazing. - Behold... The arctopus. These guys are pretty odd as well. I only have a few of their songs but from what I can tell they are a prog metal group with harsher vocals/guitar work. They seem to simply ignore so many normal music patterns and take their own "path" in the songs. It ends up sounding completly odd but after listening to it it is quite amazing. So, anyone else have any just plain odd but amazing bands out there?
January 20, 200719 yr Art Brut. I don't think they're massive, I heard them whilst sailing last year, Love there music, I'd say Indy. My dA account..retired, as of the 1st January 2008.
January 20, 200719 yr Electric Six. They are way underrated, and altohuh their singles suck, they have great album material Back by popular demand! And I guess I just wanted to tell you, as the light starts to fade, that you aree the reason, that I am not afraid, and I guess I just wanted to mention, as the heavens will fall, that we will be together soon if we will be anything at all.

January 21, 200719 yr well... the original chilis phish is just awesome but different return to forever- i think chick corea was in it but they are like electric jazz stuff its kinda cool actually even though im not too into jazz
January 21, 200719 yr Dillinger Escape Plan. Hardcore metal with random time structures based on algebraeic equazions :) Explosions In The Sky. They're just ambient :)
January 21, 200719 yr The Mars Volta and Aphex Twin are both pretty weird. La lune ne garde aucune rancune.
January 22, 200719 yr maybe the Deftones idk i'm ont into weird bands They aren't really that wierd. Anyway, I heard this little known Aussie band on the radio called 'Hospital the Musical' (wierd name, I know) and the song they played totally hypnotised me. It was so raw and brutal, the vocals were screechy and desperate and the time signatures and riffs awkward. Pretty progressive and odd stuff but it just captivated me. Edit @ Nadril, I'm listening to 'Aarni' right now on myspace. Wow, quite unique and odd, yet captivating. haha, I read the descriptions of the music on myspace, one of them is pretty funny.

January 22, 200719 yr I don't know if these are the kinda of bands your asking for, but.. Sikth HORSE the band Futurama already said Dillinger. They're such an amazing band. Between the Buried and Me are kind of strange. Amazing as well though. I'm gonna check up on the bands that you mentioned in the first post. :) Cool.
January 22, 200719 yr Gentle Giant. From some of their songs you might think they were a joke band; they're not. They are excellent.
January 22, 200719 yr i think they might be giants would fall under this category. they've been going around 20 years yet still remain popular to this day. i would call their music a cross between indie, and weird al :-w Runescape nick : Fat_SlugOwner of Ears, Scythe and a 10 year veteran cape :D

Their (They Might Be Giants') genre of music is sorta undefined, though they call it "geek rock" :-k
January 24, 200719 yr Gnarls Barkley is just plain odd. But I can't stop listening to them. So is Indochine.
