The all time repected lvl 85 mining

thats like saying is it really worth it to drive a SUV compared to a compact car...

Sure its worth it if you like mining for money...if you have better sources or income or other ways you find more fun you will do those ways anyways regardless of having 85 mining in most cases

EDIT: better example...speaking of 85s...

thats like asking if its really worth it to get 85 slayer...it all just depends on the person

depends if there doing it for money, for the accomplishment of the lvl, for training or for total lvls...

TBH, I think they should increase the number of rune ores in the game and more easily obtainable.

Simpley because.. Rune just isn't as great anymore combat wise.

Granite Armor

Dragon Armor

Barrows Armor

All of these overtake what Rune can dish out. Not to mention Rune is the Average thing people wear these days.. So its not as worth much today as it was then. I think its a complete waste of time IMO.

IMO i would take 85 slayer before 85 mining....thinkin about it...

although mining is a sure source of income, and with slayer, it's random and rapidly declining....you get to train combat along as camp out...I like to camp out...just me tho.

but i really mean is it worth it, speaking of money.

Is spending thoes countless weeks getting to lvl 85 to mine rune worth it to make decent money.

or can a lvl 3 get the same amout of money an hour picking up snapdragon spwans or flax.....

im just wondering because im at lvl 80 and if mining rune for 1 day can get me mills comming in fast then i wouldnt mine clicking for another month but if not then......................................

rune mining is good.. cmon.. 12k ea ore? it takes like 5mins for an ore maybe... i dunno i never mined/watched some1 mine rune.

you can easily mine more $ in ores then u can get whips. with the % of luck lately.

AMEN! The rate of whip drops blows now...from 1 in 400 to 1 in a thousand (or so ive been hearing)

but ya for the boredom factor involved id much rather do any other skill for money making  #-o :wall:

No way, now look there are about 13k players with 85 mining. If you ask me, i can barely get into a world with SPAWNED rune anywhere  Nat rcing for me anytime, single or double, it's better for me

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

like i said, factually i couldnt comment, but the idea is i believe its much more likely to rune mine more $ then slayer.

99 slayer is a feat accomplished over a long long time...im sure your friend had gotten a few whips before they were near the prices they are now, i mean just a year ago they were 3mil?...then the year before that 6m? okay, then not only could he do slayer but manage thy kingdom while u slay all day could definately make you side cash for doing...nothing?

runecrafting is the big new $ craze and its long term to... but maybe sometime their will be a better thing, like barrows the first months it was amazing... then yea after that not as but still brings in a lil side cash.

I reckon the chance of a unique slayer drop should be increased depending on slayer lvl.

doubt it, ask axe man jack what he thinks tho.

What I meant was that a higher slayer lvl should help incrase the chance of getting (lets say a whip) from Abby Demons. Or any item obtainable only from the slayer skill (Mystic, Weapons, etc.)

I personally mined my first runite ore in 2002 and got my first whip drop 2.7.2005. Here's my opinion on both skills:

85 mining:

+ Prices are pretty stable because of high alching. Even if a new oe was introduced, they wouldn't go too much down.

+ The money just flows to you as your ore/hour speed stays at pretty much the same as you don't have to wait for lucky shots like in slayer.

+ No matter how you train, it's always either profitable or free.

- Lack of rune mining spots

- Training is pretty repetitive.

85 Slayer:

+ IMO less boring to train than mining.

+ Clues, rune chains, rune meds and key halves give some pretty good money too.

+ Also training melee (and maybe ranged&magic) stats same time.

- Whip prices might get crashed in future if we get a new superior weapon.

- The money you get depends about your drops; with this luck factor you can't make as good estimates of your daily earnings as with rune mining.

- For maximum xp per hour you need some items to help you; this increases costs and might be that the drops from your tasks don't cover them up.

Both are great ways to make money and they both got cons and pros. I personally can't say which one should you get, but I can give you one tip: get the one which you feel like getting.

Rune Mining is not worth it. As you said yourself, you can pull more money picking up snape's. (With good spots and tactics).

Rune mining was good in Runescape Classic. In the early days when you could get 300k for a rune kite shield. These days when rune sells for just a little above high alch prices its become a very bad money maker indeed!

Now you can get 12k per ore? Before Bluerose13x could buy them for 100k each.

As long as dragon ore is not put into the game mining will never be a main moneymaker skill.

Fredz, at the moment I'm making 400-600k per hour with rune ores. That's pretty good money imo.

Indeed 400 - 600k / hour is good. But when using the wilderness mining site (2 rocks) you risk getting killed by player killers. Making 500k constant each hour in the long run less likely. Off course you might have developed anti-pk tactics. Or maybe your combat is 110+ so your pulling it up. But this will vary from player to player, and its a luck factor involved. Offcourse you have the Heroe's guild spot (1 rock) and the Temple of light (1 rock). But I doubt you can pull of 500k an hour at those places, mining the ore, and selling it. Making 500k an hour. :-k You will at least need to get your hands on a permanently buyer to achieve that kind of speed.

theirs 2...

fredz he might be using the mourners rune rocks i believe there is 2 rune rocks there so you have no chance of being pked when mining at the mourner rocks

hm, Thanks for the info guys. I could swear that there were only 1 rune rock back in rs classic. (last time i visited heroes guild) But offcourse I might be wrong.
