Mails from (fake) Jagex getting anoying...

Maybe you should foreward it to jagex. They'll have their legal team on the fakers before you can say "p00nage."

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun.

Even if its from an "@jagex.com" it would still be fake, the only time they use the jagex mail is in-house(mess. cent.).

Also, it's not very hard to send anonymous emails, quite a few wiki sites have instructions on how to send these type, it's also possible to send emails "from" George Bush to other people.

Those sites do not keylog you. They trick you into thinking it's the runescape site so you type in your username/password which gets sent to them.

No idea why anyone is discussing keyloggers when they're not used.

Ughh, don't get started on these.

After joining the Runescape Community forums, and being promoted to a SeMe, I recieved on average, around 2-4 of these fake emails a week. That's via email, don't even ask how many PMs on RSC I got that were about this or about RS buying/selling sites.

It's pathetic, really, not much else to say on the subject.

Wait, I went to the link they provided in the letter (Stupid, I know, but I was curious! #-o #-o #-o )! I didn't enter any information, does it mean I could've gotten a keylogger? I really, really, hope not....

Before there was a message center, Jagex used email, but even then they never did send any links. They just said to go to runescape website.

Those messages from the real Jagex are the only emails about runescape I've gotten, lucky me.

Cor, the only Jagex impersonation I got was a PM, and even then I had a bit of 'fun' with him. You should never state your e-mail on any Runescape related site (Like here) apart from http://www.runescape.com.

It is quite a good fake, and it would be completely legitimate if it was on the message centre. That is exactly how they are written.

what im wondering is how does a hacker gert an @jagex.com email

JaGex.com is registered by jagex staff so only the registor (most likely andrew) has the ability to give access to email accounts.

This hacker sure did go a LONG way i bet to hack some accounts

And what proof do you have it's from that site? To get Spyware and viruses from Websites you have to download them to your computer by accepting the files. If you got spyware It's most likely from another source. If you want to reduce spyware and whatnot don't use IE.

You will NOT get a keylogger from such sites unless you're stupid and download random files.

I've gotten it twice, it's too obvious

However, there was one scam email that i almost believed, it was something like this:

From Tip.It Staff:

Dear user, there has been reports that there is a virus circulating throught the Tip.It Forums, please do not visit the Tip.It Forums for about a week, if you have visited it recently, scan your computer right now using

Just warning you, some of you would have believed it as Tip.It does email you.

Lamest attempt at a lure ever.

Not true AT ALL. You can easily get trackers without knowing it.

It's true, just by viewing a web page you can get viruses, spyware, adware, etc. If you need to get your PC clean, these ones should do the trick:

(I did not provide links, due to security issues, just search them on Google)

AVG Free Anti-Virus

AdAware Personal

Spybot Search and Destroy

Windows Defender (previously known as Microsoft Anti-Spyware)

All the above ones are safe and trusted, and completely free (although some have better versions if you'd like to buy the premium).

One last thing, always browse with the Mcafee SiteAdvisor. They have add-ons for Firefox (and IE, if you use that), and you should never search/browse without it, in my opinion. It adds a tiny box in the bottom right corner of your browser, and it will update it's color (green=ok, yellow=minor issues, red=bad) to match the web page you're viewing. Click on the box to see all of the e-mails you get from that site, info on the downloads and pop-ups there, and much more. It's very handy.

Stay safe!

It's easy to figure it out - any email from Jagex is fake.

They only use the in-game message center.

O yea?

I have proof that they don't only use in-game mesasge center Here's a few corresponding e-mails between us. PS start reading from the bottom as there is a couple of replies.

You took the words right outta my mouth. You can get things such as keyloggers and spyware from a lot of things, not just things that are downloaded. I haven't downloaded anything, how else could I've gotten that spyware? It wasn't there the day beforehand...

And also, when did I say I use IE? I don't. -.-
