If you receive any other email then it is a fake and should be deleted. -ALL our emails have this warning message at the bottom -Our emails will NEVER have attachments of any sort -Jagex staff will NEVER ask you for your password I really is a good fake, and i was wondering for a moment iff it's real or not... but then i thought well jagex always tells that they don't send mails so... Anyway i'm wondering why people do this, sending fake emails, it isn't fun at all... Please Discuss... (I didn't made an Url from the link cause i don't want people to fill it in... you can always check it out, but i hope no one gives his information to that site...) Severation
It's easy to figure it out - any email from Jagex is fake. They only use the in-game message center.

Potter_Pkr
Those emails are annoying. If you want to be extra save why not make it so that users cannot see your MSN/AIM email addresses? Lots of points which make it show it's fake but i'm not in the mood to list them  yeah i know but iff you follo the link it looks a lot like the main runescape site... The thing that made me sure that it was a fake was that there is 2001 - 2006 on the page at the bottom, while on the runescape site it is 2001 - 2007 QP cape (20 october 2007)

What the hell were you doing following the link? I hope your PC's malware defences are up to scratch if you engage in that sort of behaviour on a regular basis. Saru Inc
NICE FAKE!! I thought it was real because of the password thingie at the bottom. THen I remebered that they only use the message center. But, if they don't want you to use your pass, then whats the point of it? Unless it has a key logger or something. :notalk: ~Saruman I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. darkblade986
That should be all the proof you need that it is fake. This does not link directly to the Runescape Main Page, which all links would if it was legitimate because of the Javascript code embedded in each page. The next proof would be that it is trying to direct you to "port5.com." Any features of Jagex would be linked to "runescape.com," which is impossible to manipulate unless you accidentally type it wrong. I'm pretty sure that there's actualy a "runesacpe.com" (note the "ac" rather than "ca" in scape). I wouldn't try it if I were you... EDIT: Well this is interesting... McAfee SiteAdvisor says that the site I mentioned above was used for the following... RANK: YELLOW Our analysis indicates that this site's primary purpose is to capture traffic meant for runescape.com, a more popular site with a similar name. don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?Officially reached 100 Combat at 1:33PM EST, June 14, 2007First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat

RANK: YELLOW Our analysis indicates that this site's primary purpose is to capture traffic meant for runescape.com, a more popular site with a similar name. Owners of popular sites such as those owned by big brands, often buy up domain with similar (mis)spellings to direct traffic to their sites. Ever heard of 'cyber-squatting'? In the early days of the web, people would buy domains i.e. coca-cila.com and either re-direct them to their own site, or wait for the relevant brand owner to cough up, often large sums of money, to buy the domain from them. This practise has now been outlawed, and large companies can get their domains legally 're-possessed'. TechHead7890
I just used my account in Vienna and I didn't get that. So yes, It is fake. Jagex will NEVER email you. So don't click it and report it on the real runescape site.
