Todays game consoles and what you think about them

Post your suggestions about what would be the Best gaming console of this new year.

I have been looking around the computer lately and i stumbled upon a topic on a news site about today's game consoles, It said that the WII is blowing the Play Station3 and the XBox 360 out of the water as far as how many sold and what their profit margin is. I myself have stuck with Play Station for my whole life because of the price and grapics aswell as the controllers(other console controllers feel odd to me) anyways in this topic it said that Nintendo has sold over 1.2million WII's because they are the most affordable right now even though they dont have the best graphics or memory they do have a knew controller which lets the gamer feel apart of what is happening in the game while the Ps3 has sold 650,000 consoles and the X-Box 360 since its release has sold 1.4million consoles (released in 2005).

Now on my part i did a little reasearch on the Play Station3, X-Box 360 and the WII and i found out that the reason the Ps3 and X360 are so expensive is their quality and their warranty. The Play Station 3 for instance is supposed to have the best graphics in all game consoles ever made and probably will for the next few years it also has 40-60 Gigabytes and is loaded with auto-memory and a few other neat things, the X-Box360 is the same way very great quality while the WII on the other hand has 25-35 Gigs and isn't packed with the newest graphics and loading softwear as these other consoles. As i have already stated the WII is the best selling console but has the smallest memory, slower loading and not as great graphics which makes the price of it affordable for the average household while the Ps3 and X360 are over priced they are for the more experienced gamer who is willing to go all out on the price. No matter what type of gamer you are I would personally go with the Ps3 Because of its fast loading, great graphics and other hidden features though it is on a price range of $400-$600.

Prices for each console

WII (Nintendo Revolution): $250-300

Ps3 (Play Station 3): $400-600

X360( Microsoft X-Box 360): $300-425

Feel free to add comments involving the PsP and the Nintendo Ds

Like i said Post your suggestions about what should be the Best selling and all out gaming console of this year.

The biggest thing I think is that the PS3 is overpriced. Not worth the money. The 360 was very good when I played it. I never played the Wii, so I don't really know too much about it.

As for the best, I would say 360.

122 Combat : 99 Hits : 99 Attack : 99 Strength

97/99 Defence : 99 Fletching : 99 Woodcutting

I can't really give an honest opinion, but I still would have to go for the Wii from a PC players point of view. This is mostly because the 360 doesn't offer much to me that I can't do on my PC, while on the other hand the Wii does.

But saying that the 360 has a more established library right now and has really started to shine this year with more titles. Give it more time and I think it will have a nice library. The Wii too I"m sure will build up a good library but only time will tell if the controler will lose its "gimiky" feeling or not. (I.E, if it survives).

The PS3 I can't really comment on. A nearly non-existant game library with an overpriced system.

True, true, but i agree with you when you say that you cant do much mother on a 360 than on a PC theres just not enough features but i am sure the WII will survive, but if it doesn't there will be alot of new technology put in to it that may go to waste unless some other company picks up the difrent things. But the Play Station 3 i have played it, it has amazing control hardly any glitches(for most games) and is the fastest that i have used out of the 3 but i also agree that they wont get much done because its so over priced. Which is why sony is franticly trying to reduce the price of their system according to the gigabytes it has.

But the WII does seem to meet every need of the average gamer including cost efficancy(I know i spelt that wrong).

Im gonna header late here hehe...

Darth~

I would say the Wii looks to be the best so far, its something new, cheaper than the other 2, only real problem I see with it at the moment is its only got 1 or 2 must play games, of course it hasn't really had the chance the 360 had seeing as the 360 came out a while ago and the Wii pretty much just came out, it hasn't had the chance to expand its game library yet, though it looks to have some very good ones coming out soon.

360 comes in at a close second, it has a fairly large game library, with some must play games, but, as was already stated, anything decent for the 360 is bound to come out on PC, if it hasn't already.

PS3 has been on a horrible downhill slope and it would take a miracle to even get it a bit closer to the other 2, its way overpriced and has no decent games. I'm not sure, but this could be the death of Sony gaming.

My ps2 is almost as good as the ps3, maybe even better with rumble! Ps3 adds nearly nothing new, just some graphics and changing rumble to slight motion.

Wii is very nice with it's innovation. Affordable prices and free online. The virtual console is a nice touch, I'm mainly a retro gamer. The only problem is with the online friend codes. And I'm hoping that some games are made that use the virtual controller as well. Also looking for a zapper attachment.

Xbox360, it has pretty nice games. Standard gaming console. Xbox live is really nicely developed, but you have to pay for online, so ehh..

I believe PS3 is worth every cent.

It all depends on what you use the system for. If you a person who's into movies and games and wants to move onto the HD theme then by saying the PS3 is over priced, your crazy!(I can explain why if needed) But if you wanna be a gamer and a gamer only sure the PS3 is a little over priced.

I think the Wii is the best next gen consol but im biased about that but even i do think it has lots to offer, a news channel,a forecast channel, a virtual shop and even has a gamecube built in it basicly.. havent even heard much about the ps3 though

34393.jpg

I would get them all if I could afford them. On a tight budget, the Wii looks best, which is why I got it.

they named it the 360!...fool...and explain why you ask?

360 great graphics

descent price

can get an add on to play hd!

and still works out less than the ps3

so theres my argument.

but ps3 blows no matter what you say.

but then theres the 360 and wii

they just blew people away

the wii for the more casual gamer and party games and the younger ones (unless your a 10 yr old chav)

and the 360 for the more serious gamers with the high power games and games you cant really just spend 30minutes on a week etc

so a tie bettween 360 and wii

ps3 is full of un needed rubbish

Every Nintendo console needs some weird "gimmick" while the rest of it stays the same, nice and cheap without taking much of a risk.

The 360 and PS3 are by far the best consoles though, the 360 has an already established library and a lot of power. The PS3 is working its way to a good library (no console has a huge library at launch) with developers like Insomniac(they created Resistance and Ratched & Clank with a new Ratchet planned exclusively for the PS3   )

If you are looking for large games with a large storymode and smooth layout then go with the PS3, if you are looking for online play then go with the 360. The 360 is without a doubt the best for online ( I actually bought it just for Gears online even though I already have a PS3). If you are more of a mixed player then I would go with the PS3, it has online play but just not as many players.

The world would be a whole lot better if little green men in UFO's came down to earth to abduct rednecks.

Alright, first off, the Wii is actually breaking off from traditional gaming, while the PS3 and Xbox360 are doing the exact same thing they have been since they started. I mean the games they made for their newer systems could easily be made for their older systems without any change whatsoever in the game play, sure they have a couple extra features, but they are GAME consols, not DVD(Or whatever the hell else they play) players or anything else, thus wouldn't it make more sense to do something with game play rather than see how many different features they can pack in there, because of all the extra stuff, Sony had to make the PS3 $600, and while they were doing that guess what they forgot to make? Decent games, none of the games they have out for it are acually good enough to be labled as must have games, which is a necessity for any game system launch, if they actually want to stay close to the compitition they have to have at least 1 must have game for their system, though currently the PS3 has none.

As for the 360, yeah, its got a great library of games, several good features, so yeah, its a great system, though really, it isn't much of a step up from Xbox.

As for the Wii, they are actually trying something new for a change, its got tons of potential, its game library isn't very impressive at the moment, but it does have one game that has been put as the #1 game of 2006 on many lists, suprisingly even over Gears of War, which I personally thought would be the top game even though I've never played it, and its got tons of what look to be some great games coming in the near future.

Limp,

If you were gonna buy a regular 360(Core one) it would cost you around $300. Plus then you buy the external HD-DVD drive which costs another $200. So if I do my math correct...

300 + 200 = 500 (without tax)

Now the 20gig PS3 costs $500 with a blu-ray drive and a Hard drive! You don't get a hard drive with the core one now do you? Nope.

The prices are the same! How can you say it's over priced!

Now for the graphics. Have you played PS3 games, the graphics on them are the same as 360.

I believe this is an argument.

(I'm talking about all the people who want the HD experience and a gaming console. If you just want the a game console and don't care about HD then the PS3 is a little over priced. Only by $200. :P )

im on about uk prices here..uk works out ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã100 cheaper...and the hd drive is about ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã100 on top of a ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã300 console and a top of the range game

so basicly your wrong

uk ps3 price is rrp ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã500

Well how in the world would I know your talking about UK numbers, you never stated that. My US numbers prove im totally right on how the PS3 isnt over priced. Yeah you might be right about UK sales and numbers but I don't know one thing about your currency. So I so nobody is right here. Misunderstanding on both parts.

The Wii is very fun! My family loves it. <3: I totally reccomend it. If you ever play it and don't like it keep playing because their is a learning curve. Especially driving games for me. GO Wii!!!!!!!

Resistance is the current must have game for the PS3, critics call it better than Halo and Zelda. The Wii is for non-gamers, it has a poor future library for a big gamer like most people.

Blue107- perm banned 10/12/2007. $300 USD reward if you can get me in contact with someone who will take 5 seconds to look at evidence and get my original character unbanned.

My thoughts:

PS3: Despite a few hiccups, this is the most promising IMO. The games coming for it in the coming months and through to the end of 2007 are definately going to put it on the map library-wise. Good online (not quite as good as Live but still very solid), a lot of power and lots of features...Very good, takes way more flak than it deserves.

Xbox 360: A very very solid system, good games, good online...But too few exclusives and really, there's absolutely no reason I would buy one. As a PC gamer, there's literally a hundred reasons why I shouldn't buy one, and 2-3 why I should. All the best 360 games are either on PC right away, or will be. (Halo 3, GoW, Oblivion, GRAW, F.E.A.R., Rainbow 6: Vegas...All either already on PC or will be). If I didn't have a good PC, and I didn't have the money for one, I would probably get a 360. But as it stands, I'd rather have a PS3.

Wii:Ehhhh, it seems more like people prefer rooting for the underdog. That's why Wii get's so much hailing and the generic but superior PS3 essentially gets flamed everywhere, all the time. Wii is fun to play...At someone elses house. Other than Zelda, there's really very little right now in the way of games I'd play at home by myself (which is how I'm gaming 95% of the time). It's all Wii Sports, Wario, Smash Bros Brawler to come...Party games.

Some of us just like to sit at home and play games by ourselves, and I think all the hype around Wii has forgot about that. :uhh:

PC: Without a doubt the top platform. A back catalogue that puts the three systems combined to shame, more features, better controls, better graphics, better sound, higher resolutions, free-online play that's been perfected over the past decade+, mods, the Games for Windows initiative, and, without a doubt, the system with the most promising games coming in 2007. Period.

Fine, I stand corrected, though I checked several scources, and many(If not all) rate the new Zelda far above it.

As for future library, lets see, looks like any decent looking game has either been canceled or the date it comes out hasn't even been released yet.

Though while I was searching around, I found a graphics demo hat they apparently showed at E3 of what FFVII would look if it was on the PS3, if they made that game, that would boost sales through the roof for them if they actually made it, though they say they arn't.

Mr Putter(I'm to lazy to quote what you said):

Completly agree with you on the PC, it will always have the best games, its just plain fact.

But as for your other ratings, *Points up to Introuble's sig* the numbers don't lie, PS3 is doing pathetic, Xbox360 is doing fairly well for how long its been out, but the Wii is doing outstanding, both the other consols have been out long before the Wii but its already shot up to almost half the consols the Xbox360 has sold.

It is clear who is winning this race.

Lets compare this situation to something which you might not be as ignorant about. Lets say car A has decent gas mileage, warranty, fits a lot of people etc and its $20,000. Then lets say car B can fly to the moon and cost $5,000,000. Which can the average consumer afford? BUT, which is better?

I believe PS3 is worth every cent.

It all depends on what you use the system for. If you a person who's into movies and games and wants to move onto the HD theme then by saying the PS3 is over priced, your crazy!(I can explain why if needed) But if you wanna be a gamer and a gamer only sure the PS3 is a little over priced.

:-s

You make absolutely no sense. Im into movies, but it's not as if you can download them over live like on the '360. It's not as if you can use your own regular or HD movies, oh no, instead you have to buy blue ray movies for even more money! "Move onto the HD them" is exactly what I want, so I went for the Xbox 360 which has over 10x the HD Games & Movies than the PS3.

Now for the games, your better off going for the 360 because it have so many more exclusives, a prefected Xbox Live (Granted, you do have to pay for the 360 Live though, a minor drawback in my opinion.), more games already out, and it's cheaper per game. The pricedrag ($300-$400) is not very nice, but compair it to the PS3 and it's a bargain! Or if your into arcade games, you can always get those off-live, and you can get game videos, game demos, game extra's, all of which you can't get on the PS3 (Im sure they will get around to it someday though.) Top that off with the fact that it can play regular DVD's unlike it's counterpart, and you've got yourself worthwhile package. Many people are mistaken about what the think the PS3 can do currently, because they have been spoiled by the Xbox 360, and they have heard all of the Sony hype. Did you know that the PS2 has sold more copies that the PS3 since the PS3 has been out?

For a final point, think about GoW & Halo 3 too. Does PS3 have those, of course not! Does PS3 have a better live than the Xbox 360 Of Course Not! Is it true that the PS3 will have more exlusives than the 360 of course not! Is it true that you could buy a Xbox 360 & a Wii for the price of a PS3? Yep  . So after all of that, I would have to tell everyone, that currently, my favorite system of the 3 would have to be the Wii. Leave it to Nintendo to come up with a completely different way to game, and get off your couch while your at it. Plus it's about 1/3 of the cost of a 360, and about 1/2 of the cost of a 360. :P

"Even when the odds are against you, even when the chance of victory is bleak and your situation looks hopeless, take a look at the horizon, and think back to what you have learned. You'll be filled with the confidence to take on the world."

The PS3 can play regular DVDs, and blu-ray movies cost about 3 dollars more then a reg at best buy. Also the 360 cannot play 1080p, which is considered HD without an external $200 disc drive

485th person to ever play RuneScape

Blue107- perm banned 10/12/2007. $300 USD reward if you can get me in contact with someone who will take 5 seconds to look at evidence and get my original character unbanned.

1080p is considered full-HD. 720p and 1080i are both HD, just not full HD.

i'll think i'll discuss the hand helds or now.

ok lets look at them. the nintendo DS and the sony PSP both easily conquered the GBA and the SP but which is really better?

nintendo has recently been coming up with ways to play a game than just sitting on your couch and staring at whatever screen, so they invented a handheld game with TWO screens AND it can fit in an average sized pocket. sure it may not be able to play movies or music like the PSP but when someone buys a game system, who buys one to watch movies for listen to music? we've already got ipods and portable DVD's.

sony has been improving on graphics rather than gameplay IMO. the PSP is just a portable PS2  i dont thank i've seen a PSP game that you cant get on the PS2 or PS3 its nothing new just a portable PS2. if i wanted to listen to music while playing games i'd get an ipod its not that big of a deal

so who wins? the nintendo DS of course
