December 22, 200817 yr Author race bonuses arent THAT minuscule if youre a mage looking into heavy pvp undead > bloodelf (of course this is all my opinion) this is because of will of the forsaken for pve, bloodelf has the win because of the ability to restore 6% of mana with a spell that doesnt reset global cooldowns if youre just starting off though, i would roll a hunter, pally, or a rogue, though you should just play what you will enjoy the most. hunters are honestly the easiest class to level and a good hunter can put out VERY high dps (we have a hunter on our server that was putting over 3.5k dps only a month or so after WOTLKs release) With a lot of the changes in WoTLK I don't see mana as an issue at all for mages. I would not underestimate Beserking from trolls either. Coupled with Icy veins especially it's a nice little bonus for damage. In PvP it means I can get off that frost bolt a bit faster (Icy veins + Zerk moves frostbolt to around a 1.7s cast time) and the 15% less movement impairment effects can help as well. WoTF would be the next racial choice I would chose for PvP, but I don't think fear is as big in WotLK then it was in TBC. But man, overall just choose the race you like. No need min-maxing if you don't like the race.
December 23, 200817 yr I totally agree. Part of the reason i rerolled a BE priest was because i couldnt stand looking at my undead mage. just...bleh. and youre right with mana i suppose, i havent had much of a problem with mana on my mage and im heavy fire. ive never played a troll and there are none in my guild so im not familiar with beserk either. but its as someone said earlier, play with something you can stand seeing the back of forever lol a pally taunt eh...as is pallys werent already amazing enough tanks... Retired after 2 accounts and 8 years of scapin...2 accounts over 2,000 total...may my life rest in peaceBrawl Code:5327-0581-3706
December 23, 200817 yr So theres been all this QQ about arena season 5 and its gear models "Oh its looks like [cabbage] compared to S3 and S4" and that its way too expensive on the vendors. I think its a tad expensive for the person who dabbles in pvp like i do but 60k honor is much easily achieved and as a druid i love the look of the arena sets. I hope theres a progresion like vannilla where it may get a recolour and more [bleep]es, effects to distinguish it as better. Raiding has stopped till the 28th in my guild so ive respecced balance to clear icecrowns quest and farm some meats until then, I want to get back up to 3k gold by the time raiding resumes since ive been scraping together anything to get my 2 flasks or get up a few ins levels.I dont even know why im leveling up inscription, its pretty sucky and when i have enough gold ill be picking up JCing
December 24, 200817 yr This is why I rolled a mage The same guy i think posted on the wow eu forums a few days after WOTLK in a thread about the fastest way to level, posted a video of him in icecrown doing similar things but on smaller mobs getting about a thousand xp a second at level 76. Yep, i think im gonna bring my troll mage up aswell.
December 25, 200817 yr which wand would be better for a level 21 fire mage? Banshee rod of the sun 13-25 shadow, 1.40 speed, 13.6 dps. +1 Int +1 Sta +1 Spell power or Greater magic wand 22 - 41 Arcane Damage Speed 1.80 (17.5 damage per second) no stats.
Definatley 1 The thing you will learn pretty quickly playing a caster is that weapon damage doesnt mean anything to youre damage. You very rarely ever pull out youre weapon or wand on a fight so you want stats on items that boost the damage done by youre spells. Kinda bored with wwo atm, raidings postponed till the 28th, just clearing out borean and icecrown for my achievements. I could run a load of heroics but im balance specced and i hate pve'ing as a druid.
December 25, 200817 yr Author The big thing is how much you use your wand. At lower levels you might use it to finish off mobs because you don't have much mana, but later on the stats on the wand become much more important. If you still use your wand at all to finish stuff off I would say go for the 17.5 dps, the stats aren't terribly important on the first anyways. My wand didn't have stats until 35 or so (+3 int +7 spell dmg) anyways.
December 25, 200817 yr how do I say stuff in the channels like [general] and [trade] instead of out loud?
December 25, 200817 yr type /1 or /2 depending on channel number before you type your message :) Deviant Art Account2 Signatures | 6 Photographs | 1 Other
December 25, 200817 yr type /1 for general or /2 for trade in before you type what you want to say additionally, /p for party, /g for guild, /ra for raid, /bg for battleground, /y for yell, /r to reply to a whisper. /w "person's name" to send them a private message (without the "") you can also join different custom chat channels, and even make your own, by typing /join "name of channel".
December 25, 200817 yr /3 is Local Defense, /4 is LFG and /5 is World Defense even though you can't talk in World Defense.
December 26, 200817 yr Alright, I'm getting sick of getting gang-raped every time I enter a cave. Is there a class that can deal with 2 or more mobs attacking without dieing?
December 26, 200817 yr Alright, I'm getting sick of getting gang-raped every time I enter a cave. Is there a class that can deal with 2 or more mobs attacking without dieing? Most can. Just deal with them one at a time, don't go rushing in, check where they're hanging around, try not to pull to many at a lower level. Or roll a Paladin and get your revenge. sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
December 26, 200817 yr Author Mages are the best class for dealing with adds and extra mobs. Polymorph, roots, slows. Just at low levels you'll have a [bleep] time if you pull too many.
December 26, 200817 yr problem is I get halfway through killing one, then he calls over his buddies and kills me before I can act. They're all to close together to kill 1 by 1. Then I get stuck in situations like the one below. [hide=This is impossible.][/hide]
December 26, 200817 yr Author Yeah that quest is easy as a mage, I did it without deaths. You can easily do a 1 or 2 pull, just make sure they are slowed if anything before they run.
December 26, 200817 yr Mages are the best class for dealing with adds and extra mobs. Polymorph, roots, slows. Just at low levels you'll have a [bleep] time if you pull too many. Massive fun clearing huge parts of Icecrown w/Mage + Pally. xD EDIT - Ah, just keep your distance. Poly one, move away from him, Frost Nova, get your distance and BAMBAMBAM. Or use that Blizzard I think I see. That's massive OP. xD Where is that anyways? sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
December 26, 200817 yr Where is that anyways? http://thottbot.com/q6421 I'm specced fire... I normally pyro blast-firebolt-wand/fireblast/whatever to kill things. Apparently I'm doing something very wrong if mages deal with crowds the best. Mana shield eats up enough mana, blizzard would just leave me helpless. Anyways I did the quest by running, dieing, running, dieing until I got to the end...
December 26, 200817 yr Go Frost for leveling, and your survivability will go through the roof. Varrock Library: Shattered Sky | Silent Thunder | The Emperor's FinestAstri @ MythWeavers
December 26, 200817 yr I read fire was better than frost until level 40, and that frost requires alot of skill to use (which I don't have atm).
December 26, 200817 yr Author I went frost after shatter, which is a Tier 4 level talent (so you can get it maxed at like.. 27 or so). After that frost is a real easy build to use, half of the time the mob dies before it even touches you. A build such as THIS is a great starting frost build.
December 26, 200817 yr Ok, should I spec to that after 27 or do it partially now? ( http://thottbot.com/mage/t#/gb41 <= Heres what I have now, at level 21) on shatter, when it says a 50% critical hit chance increase does it mean it would be my current chance (about 6) + 50 (56 total), or my current chance + 50% of that chance (6*1.5=9)?
