I have to decide between a kickass frost, fire, or arcane wand. They are all identical in stats and DPS. Do wands get spell damage bonus or talent bonuses?

 

 

 

I'm trying to decide between the diversity of an arcane wand, or if frost gets better bonuses...

Pick the arcane one, very few mobs (if none at your level) with arcane resist.

7% reduction in dps isn't too bad... although considering the top dps is usually only 3 or 4% ahead of second place, this could make quite a difference...

 

 

 

Anyway, all I need is a new set of hunter legs and I'll be off doing some heroics. Just got a belt and gloves from CoS. Ran the Oculus too, but I didn't even get the achievement since I died on the second boss (the tank pulled before we were ready :| ).

Thats a nice looking UI. It doesn't work too well on my old computer, but I'm installing it on my new one right now.

 

 

 

Edit: After half an hour of trying to get it to work, I give up. The chat logs don't work, the hardly any of the unitframe addons work, the bag addon doesn't work... If only these were updated it would be wonderful.

i have a lvl 80 mage hunter and rogue

 

 

 

mage is by far the one i find ez mode

 

 

 

7% is nothing in a 5man group cus ur either at the top or your not

 

 

 

wait till you get into a 25man and see how hard it is keping top DPS

kinda think about it makes sence for hunters to get AoE - Blizzard Worldwide invitational did say that they want to make classes not bound by a style

 

EG: Mages + rogue = CC

 

Mages + locks = AoE

 

Hunters = Missdirect

Come on now. Back when I raided we had a BM hunter who bound his Steady Shot to "mouse scroll up" and Beastial wrath to "mouse scroll down" and would put out crazy DPS.

 

 

 

 

 

It's not that hard to DPS though as any class in a raid enviroment as long as you know the right rotation. And that's as easy as going to elitist jerks or some other forums and looking it up, along with an optimal build.

 

 

 

 

 

But whatever, point is you were doing too much dps -- this fixes it.

My point was that was all he had to do as a BM hunter to achieve his top DPS. Maybe your rotation changed in WoTLK, I don't know.

 

 

 

 

 

What I don't get is that content is already so easy, why do you care about some nerf when you're still going to be brought to raids and still going to clear the same easy content just like before? Maybe now you'll have to actually try to get top DPS in a raid, and maybe it will fluctuate a bit actually. If you looked at a thread which compiled the top 100 DPS on a certain raid fight hunters almost overwhelmingly were in the top positions.

 

 

 

 

 

Done with arguing about it though. Why I dislike raiding, too much QQ over what is (apparently) going to end up being a minor % to your overall DPS.

If its easy for you to top dps meters then youre whole [bleep]ing dpsers suck.The top 3 damage dealers in our raids are Marksmen hunter, BM hunter and a combat daggers rogue and they are very close to each other pushing 3.5k dps Razuvious and i dont know on patchwerk tbh because we wiped on him a crap tonne last night.But its not easy for them to top the damage meters because all the dps are pushing as much as they can and if its easy then theres a problem with the dpsers in the raid not pulling there weight.

As a mage who needs perfect conditions and perfect procs to pull off nice DPS, I just did 3,300 on Patchwerk 10-Man last week. No shaman, no boomkin, low hot streak procs and when they did it was at the worst time (End of Living Bomb, near scorch reapplying).

 

 

 

Burst damage rogues DPSing in perfect conditions.

 

One DK and RetPala in perfect conditions, mage near perfect.

 

 

 

I spent a bit looking but couldn't find the one where a mage did around 8,000 DPS.

is it just me or does patchwork on heroic rape everyone elses raids on 25 man...

 

 

 

one of our problems is one of our tanks was the 2nd highest threat for the 1st strike, then dropped to 3rd just before the 2nd strike and got that one too. but still...it shouldnt be that bad. weve wiped on him...8 times so far? have had no problems doing the rest of the instance though. who knows, maybe its because our healers fail.

So, funny enough, I just cleared Blackrock Depths for the first time. I mean, I've cleared all the TBC raids up through hyjal, yet I never did clear BRD even leveling through 2 70's lol.

 

 

 

Did it with a level 50 prot warrior too. Anyways, level 56 now at /played 5 days, 7 hours

Yeah it's a really nice dungeon. We actually ran it again afterwards, killed every boss in an hour and a half. :) You really don't get groups like that much anymore, but it was a decent PUG group. First healer we got sucked, second was good.

Running that at normal level with my priest i think we took 6 hours to clear everything.

Done the first few bosses ages ago but never again. That place is far too confusing ;-)

 

Tomorrow we are doing Sarthatrion10 with 1 Drake up. It's easier to do Sartharion25 with two drakes up than this. The only reason is because we have to bring 3 tanks, adds, drake and Sartharion, and 3 healers, one raid, one drake and adds, other on Sartharion tank. This leaves only 4 DPS which have to be awesome because of the healers going OOM. On Sartharion25 with no drakes you can do it with 3 healers (No joke we did this in a PUG), so replacing DPS with healers doesn't really affect the raid much.

Wiped about 16 times, killed him twice. Patch and saphirron are continually cited as the hardest bosses in there (thaddius if you are on a laggy server) an i can see why patch is, tanks taking 25k damage have about 3-5 seconds to top them up for the next, its a healing race as much as it is a dps race.On both of our kills we killed him way before the enrage timer yet recently its been the healing. I think we worked out after the raid that we had to have the tanks stcked exactly on top of each other, otherwise if patch turns at an angle during a heroic strike ,one tank takes most of the damage.

 

 

 

Next raid were starting off on patch instead of anub'rekahn so we can move on through the construct quater and get some solid attempts on Gluth and Thaddius

That was stupid. We were in Oculus HC, and we are all guildies. I have green level 74 bracers, my friend has the ones from VH HC. The epic ones drop and I'm like 'FINALLY SOME DECENT BRACERS' and I need, and the other mage needs. I'm like wtf, the ones from VH are better for a mage. He explains that he'll get higher DPS from what it says on Rawr (A program that shows which items are better and by how much). They are better for him for like 0.5 DPS. Yes, 0.5 DPS. I exclaim how mine give me a 60 DPS increase, which is far more important especially since we raid weekly together. And the guild now thinks I'm a lootwhore because I had a row at him for what he did.

Nice character, but if you want better stats then replace all the level <30 gear anyway, even though it's blue anything green 30> will easily out do it for stats. :

Not really. Robes of Arugal lasted me until 53 on my mage.

 

Going to run Violet Hold HC now. Let's see if I can get my bracers! Wish me luck.
