I didn't want to start a new topic so I hope its ok with everyone if I post this here.

I'm not sure about this, but is sex considered a sin in the Bible?

Because if it is.

'Go forth and multiply!' Which, if sex is a sin... is impossible. :-k

Pretty stupid question. Do you think a God would create beings (humans) and the ability for them to multiply and then tell them that he doesn't want them to do it and that its a sin.

Ok, ok, no need to be sarcastic, it's just that someone on another board mentioned that sex was a terrible sin and I was like really? Anyway thankyou for answering my question.

Biblically, sex is a beautiful, sacred gift to a man and a woman in marriage. Any perversion of that is considered a sin.

I'm wondering, have any of you read the verse in the Bible, "A day is as a thousand years to the Lord." With that, we don't really know exactly how long God created the Earth.

Technically, with that, if it were true and we took it literally, the 6 days would therefore equal 6000 years...Which would also disprove the argument that the Earth is only 6000 years old.

or it could be a simile.

You see, God is not bound by our time. He is not confined to our laws or our minds. If God was bound by time, that would mean he has been created, therefore destroying Christianity and Islam.

And therefore no scientific argument can be applied to God. That argument is stupid. It requires you're beleif in God to prove God.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

if no scientific argument can be applied to God then he can't be disproven, if he can't be disproven you can't disprove the bible.

Exactly, it's no argument it's faith. Faith in an argument like this isn't an argument, and therefore that statements pointless. It's just like saying you need faith in your God to prove God. Intrinsic arguments prove nothing to anyone except to those who already beleive.

Edit: And yes, we can disprove the Bible because it wasn't written by God but by men.

Belief based purely on faith is irrational.

It is impossible to argue logically with an irrational person. ( As they are not confined by the rules of logic. )

Therefore, bringing faith into a logical, rational argument is effectively destroying it.

We cant beat you if you dont play by the rules. :-s

Belief based purely on faith is irrational.

And you would know because...? You wouldn't know what faith was if it bumped into you on the street.

Christians aren't stupid people (contrary to what you atheist believe). We belief because we see our faith work in our lives and the things it does to our lives, and how much it enhances it. And its not something I'd expect or presume you to understand, neither should I expect it.

I don't think anyone's said Christians are stupid people. They may follow a partly-incorrect religion, but they are be no means stupid because of this. I would use the word "misguided" in this case.

(Unless Christianity really is true, then me, a spiritualist agnostic, am "misguided" instead, but still not stupid.)

He is not confined to our laws or our minds.

In actuality, seeing as you nor I have never seen or percieved him/her/it then he/she/it is completely formed by our perception i.e. our mind. You can't reliably go by descriptions in the bible either for reasons I have already stated in another topic:

It amazes me how people can be so incredibly sure of god's intentions and purpose for us as the bible was not written by him. Therefore, you're placing all your trust in the imperfection of mankind and assuming they documented and translated everything precisely, and made no errors or omissions be they intended or accidental. Full marks for being trustworthy though.

Refer to the sentence I wrote before the words you made bold and there's your answer. As said your not a believer or someone who has any faith, so its not something I could explain to you, neither would you understand if I tried.

Just try. Give it a go. I don't mind if you get it wrong or flat out can't do it, just give it a go, seriously. You ought to be ale to explain how the faith works in your life and enhances it, otherwise your asserting you arent really sure. Things you are sure of you can explain, so just try and see if you can, if you want.

Thats retarted of you. Have you not seen churchs and people on TV being healed through their faith? I'm pretty sure you got a kick out of it and said "thats fake".. I know I did, and i'm christian.

As he said above, non-believers wouldn't understand, because they are spiritually dead and have no discernment in the spirit realm, as its in the Bible.

Infact, once their was a unbeliever in God who had a disease all over his body and he was hospitalized. He prayed to God and ask him to heal him and what do you know, God did. But the preacher asked God "he didn't use his faith.. why did you heal him?" and God said "I hear the crys of the unbeliever because they have no faith."

You cannot understand something you do not even accept. The first step of faith is accepting God exists. If you can't reach that step, explantion will never reach you and be considered non-sense material. However if you still want to persist, stop being lazy and go read Hebrews 11:1 for yourself.

Seriously, alot of people are always asking for proof in this forum in realms they firstly don't believe exists. You will never understand it till you accept its place in life. But instead i'm sure you'll ask for more proof or explanations.

Here's a kicker for you, since you want explanations so much, and btw, we are the ones explaining FAITH to you, so we can't get it wrong because you don't even have a clue about it, otherwise, if you do, why are you asking us? This I would like to see.

But anyways, in 2006, a preacher was on TV around January or Febuary. They was prophesising in the spirit.. and said they saw many many houses for people that was gonna get blessed with them. I lived in my house for over 10 years, it felt like we was NEVER going to get out. We was poorer than our family that lived around us, and they aren't how, how are we gonna get out??? I got depressed because of it.. thinking no way we can get out of this house..

November came and I am in a completely NEW house!

Just today, my sisters car stoped working. Should I bring complaining to God? No, but of course, my parents and sister were having a bit of a argument. I told God and used my faith in the situation "lets just settle this right here God, we don't need all this fighting. I pray that my sister gets a good new car without any trouble".

She walks into the dealership, leaves with a Crusier with NO down payment till two weeks later!

Once again, I don't expect you to understand.. but God does exist and God acts to those who have Faith (otherwise they would just be disappointed when it doesn't happen and not use their faith ever again).

So you can keep asking for Explanations of Faith, but when you can't even accept God, there is no way you can accept Faith either.

Why do people continually assume that I would have to be an atheist and am therefore 'spiritually dead'? I am an open minded person, trust me and I don't outright not accept it at all. I'm an agnostic. So you can either just say 'sorry, I can't explain it to you becuase I don't know how' or actually give it a go and stop assuming I'm a 'retart' whose only motivation is to prove all christians wrong. I'll give that passage a read too. Seriously, stop assuming I wouldn't understand and try me. I want to hear it.

Once again, if you want to learn about it, go to Hewbrews 11:1 and people assume you don't know because its in the Bible that unbelievers are spiritually dead. So we take your word, or we take Gods. Most would choose the latter.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see

So it gives you certainty in life. Now that wasn't hard to understand at all. Amidst an insult of 'retart,' being basically labeled a moron because I'm not a believer and 'wouldn't understand' and being called lazy, I actually understand that clearly. You see you could have cut through all of that crap and just quoted hebrews 11:1 like I did. Simple.

Forgive me if I misquoted or misinterpreted the verse though.

Can you prove that claim?

Have you ever NOT been a Christian, and felt how that feels?

I'm personally insulted that religious people think their life is somehow "enhanced" over people who are not religious. They think they're somehow "better" and "more complete" and refer to us as "lost". Screw you, I'm not lost. I sure don't feel lost. I'm not sure how believing in something that has NEVER proved itself to anyone is going to make me feel better. But I can see how it makes you feel better - You're promised love and Heaven for eternity. That's pretty comforting. I, however, know that almost noone is going to go to Heaven, and not even the "Christian" label can get you there. There is a very large chance you will go to Hell yourself, according to the Bible. How fair. You dedicate your life to God and you're still sent for eternal torture! Nice.

I can't believe Christianity is the #1 religion. It makes God sound like some evil space-tyrant who wants to rescue everyone who bows down and doesn't disobey, but everyone else get plowed into the sun for eternity. Why in the Hell would anyone follow THAT? The Bible itself says that the path to heaven is narrow, and the path to Hell is broad. Yet every single Christian on this Earth thinks they're going to Heaven, while also claiming there are 2 billion Christians (inaccurate, largely).

Makes you wanna' play "Who's not getting their reward?", doesn't it?

The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past.

Yikes, Defender...What are you, an Evangelic?

You actually believe those dorks on TV who claim God talks to them?

God speaks to noone. Anyone who claims he does is something called a "False Prophet", you know, the thing the Bible warned you about? What's that? You don't believe there could be False Prophets in your beloved religion? Believe it.

So far, every single preacher I've seen on TV that claims God talks to them wants only one thing: Your money. Benny Hinn, Peter Poppoff, The 700 Club, etc. etc. etc.

Afterall, how impressed is God going to be by the title "Christian" or "Evengelic" when you're face to face with him? Not one single bit, so if you ally your beliefs with a group, you can probably say hello to Hell. Especially if it's a Christian group, because satatistically, and according to the bible, not many Christians are going to Heaven.

(I read somewhere that only 144,000 Jewish virgin men will go to Heaven, and noone else, but I dunno'. Apparently, it says that in the Bible.)

Apparently, Jehova's Witnesses believe it will be them, but apparently the Bible says it will be only Jewish Virgin Males, or something.

I didn't go look to see if the Bible said that, but where I saw it, there were a lot of Christians and stuff saying "Yes, it's true, it says that, but they'll be Jewish, virgins, and males...Not JW's."

It says 12,000 from the 12 tribes of Israel, so that's 144,00 Jews, apparently.
