Do you believe you are normal?

Normal doesn't really have a set definition... Unless you go into conforming, and all that stuff. And even then, it's shakey.

In the eyes of some people, I'm "normal", and in the eyes of others, I'm a freak of nature who wants to eat their children. Good stuff, fellas. Good stuff.

Hmm your Avatar does protray you as a Green Zombie. And zombies naturally want brains and little children.. Hmm :-k

I don't believe there is a normal. There is no normal. We are all different in our seperate ways. How can there be a normal if we're all different?

Normal is the sum of social averages; The closer you're to the average person, the more normal you are.

The average american earns $55k a year in an office job, has 3 kids, a picket fence house and a dog called Rusty, drives a shared farmer car with his wife, likes hollywood comedies and prefers pizza and hamburgers as a favourite food.

The closer you're to that the more chances are you'll be considered 'normal'.

I didn't choose to follow society like my parents. They wanted me to find a mistress by 20 and be married by 22. I was to marry into wealth, and continue my father's banking business. But this first class up tight lifestyle just doesn't appeal to me. I feel like I'm surrounded by mindless chatter, polo matches, yachts, clubs. I feel as if I'm standing at a great precipice, with no one to pull me back, no one who cares, or even notices.

As for me - meh. Nothing out of the ordinary on the outside.

I have to disagree...have you seen a mirror lately? <3:

I don't care whether I'm someone people would regard as normal or not. I don't try to be anyone other than myself.

^Well, define "nerd".

I'd say, normal/average with a few oddities here and there, like my beliefs, the fact that I don't watch tv, my hair, or the fact that I'm about 10ish IQ points higher than most people in my class. I'm not popular, but I'm no nerd either - I have a good amount of friends, am decent at sports, and will take hanging out with friends over the computer any chance I get (unfortunately I don't get that many).

No one on TIF is normal. I can tell you that much. :)

Amen. Messed up bunch of people.

I've always felt as if I'm the only person who can understand the concept of sarcasm on the internet.

You know, the people that jocks make fun of because they won't be flipping burgers for the next decade or so.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

I strive hard to be normal, but it's very, very hard. Everyone I know loves hockey, is obsessed with relationships and think reading this paragraph is enough literature for the month. I am the opposite. And it suuucks.

And has anyone seen Maddox's pro-jock article?

Yup yup yup, that's me. I don't fit the "friendless, glasses, no luck with girls, is always on the computer and cannot beat a fly in a strength contest" stereotype (God I hate that stereotype) fully, is what I mean.

I always wonder why people try to be normal. When did mediocrity ever become a good image? If your normal you should just be that way, no trying intended.
