There is adolescence, where you are not an adult, yet not a child, so your role in society is somewhat unclear. A young adult would probably be defined in UK standards as turning 18, seeing as that is the last age restriction. Turning from a kid into an adult is defined in some cultures by a rite of passage, but unless you are Jewish or from some remote country with unusual rituals, there is no such thing in Western culture.
