no more ents = no more broken axes?

so i was reading the: "2nd February 2009 - Behind the Scenes - February" and at the random event section says that there will be no more ents, so this means that the broken axes will be undiscontinued items? like rares?

The same thing happened to axe heads when that random was deleted. Broken axes will suffer the same fate as axe heads, whatever that was...I can't remember. In any case, no, they will not become rare, discontinued items.

I dont think so. They just might make them untradable.

prolly cuz theres so many

the less items the higher the price due to rarity

theres prolly 100k broken axes and picks

tons more in fixed items but still at least 100k

Do a GE search for axe handles and you should see why. ;)

Would you pay 10mil or more for a broken d axe. If it were to happen and peeps had any idea everyone would be gettting broken d axes and then if they make them discontinued they would be worthless because everyone would have one.

By definition no. A rare is something that very few exists. I many of those axes got fixed then yes they could be considered a rare. I wouldn't be spending my money on broken axe heads though because you never know what Jagex is going to do to all the brolen axes or even the pick axe heads. They just might repair them or even remove them from the game.

When axe heads could come off of the handle you would get two different items, a (bronze-dragon) axe head and an axe handle or dragon axe handle. If you had an axe head it would simply turn into an axe and all axe handles and dragon axe handles were deleted from the game.

I think it will be similar with broken axes. All broken axes should simply turn into a "regular" axe of the same type.

Its funny that the first reply answered the question completely but the OP hasnt been able to understand what you wrote here...

There used to be a random where your axe head would fly off, and you were left with an axe handle. Now it is gone, and there are no axe heads or axe handles in the game. We are saying that theyll probably do the same thing with broken axes.

Jagex does not want more rares. Even if they overlook it at first, I guarantee there will be no broken axes the day after the update or they will be untradable.

Aren't they called discontinued and not rares?

I'm fairly certain that a Jagex Mod has claimed that these items will not be discontinued. Therefore, that leaves removing them or allowing them to change back into their fixed form/automatically change them back to their fixed form.

You'll still be able to obtain shade robes, strange fruit and security books; we do not intend to discontinue any existing rewards.

They don't specifically mention broken axes and pickaxes, but if they're not discontinuing any current rewards, it'd make absolutely no sense for them to discontinue those two items.

Jagex doesn't want to create any more rares or discontinued items. One of the reasons why many holiday items are untradeable now as well as all new ones. They'll end up fixing the axes just like they did to previous items. It would be the most sensible thing to do.

Of course they will not be rares. Too many people have started threads on fansites and forums asking if they possibly might become rare.

Undoubtably, Planet Jagex has noticed this and will never allow them to become tradeable rares. That is, if they hadn't thought of it already (which I suspect they had).

Well, I've got 2 broken adamant pickaxes and 2 broken rune pickaxes. I bought them at max before the first GE price update, and I put an order in for 100 each - probably before many people noticed, or did anything about it.

The price I paid was (I think) 1200 for adamant and 18000 for rune, or there abouts. IF jagex fixes them, then I will alch them (and make about 500 gp off the rune, and nothing off the adamant). IF jagex does not fix them, and they vanish, then I lost ~38k. IF jagex does not fix them, and they remain, then I have discontinued items.

Have the randoms completely gone away yet? If not, you can start powermining and intentionally break a few pickaxes. And then you could sell those broken ones instantly at max, if you're worried what will happen to them. As far as the number of broken pickaxes, I think the total number hovers around 10k total. They aren't really used for anything....
