how would they do that? like no-one is online that would kinna be wierd, and how would they keep track with it on there main data base, how you kill the kq lol?

getting stuff like barrows would be hell since you would have to get all of one set and bank space is limited, heros requires 2 people...

and over the community might have some annonying people it is still the best part of the game, kinna ruin it...

nah, that would be kind of dumb, seeing as the whole economy relies on the players, it would be no fun. no rares to save up for, certain aspects of the game would be ruined. :shame:

MMORPG can also stand for massively multiplayer OFFLINE rpg... but nvm that. RuneScape would never survive, and how whould you get the updates haveing to re-download it every week?

there is NO single player on RS, and thats all there is too it. Is your internet down or what?

I would totally hunt greaters. Oh man...

It might be nice to fool around when you're offline, but otherwise it would rapidly lose its appeal.

I'm thinking there would also be a pretty big security problem. Would-be hackers of Runescape are hindered by the fact that the game is run almost entirely from remote servers that they don't have access to.

In order to play the game offline, the entire game code would have to exist on your computer somewhere, leaving all of Jagex's secrets exposed to anyone who cared to download and decomplile the program.

The most powerful autoers in existence today are created through knowledge obtained from reverse-engineering the client, imagine if hackers had the entire game to work with! :ohnoes:

I believe it would be great! Well for one day that is. After that, almost no one would play it, it would be a waste to keep it up.

It is a MMORPG

That's actually describing what it is at the moment. :-$

Doesn't mean they can't give a variation/different aspect to the game.

Though in my opinion they won't and they have no need to waste their time in doing so.

I think players would eventually get bored of them and carry on playing the main runescape game.

If however they made runescape totally with private servers, people would get bored doing stuff they have always dreamed of doing and the novelty will wear off, making Jagex slowly loose money.

No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug.

It would be fun if the servers contained bots, like POD-BOTS on Counter Strike. Imagine owning bots in the wilderness

Quick reminder... Rule 7 of RuneScape effectively means "NO BOTS". :(

You know, this isn't that bad of an idea: Jagex has even thought of doing it - but never actually implemented it into Runescape.

31 March, 2004 - Upcoming Runescape Updates:

"Randomly generated scenarios, where a new adventure is generated for you and your friends each time you go on it. Form an adventuring party and go on your own personal quest."

Is that not the same thing? I believe it is.

The only difference with this is that it is fully online. The person who began this thread wanted to run RuneScape in a LAN environment only, which Jagex will likely never allow, sad to say.

First of all, he didn't say one person. He said you and your friends. Impossible offline but more possible online, apply for a private server, make it have a password, and there. There could be some option to go to a private server on the main page. Although it would take up a tremendous amount of bandwith, and make the whole game worse then world 2, lag-wise. My point is, it's near impossble to do online, and impossible to do offline.
