  1. They're right you know. This isn't the kind of item where everyone's got one on the first day, so you can ask everyone what their experience is. This is a low occurence, rarer than Dragon Legs from a Steel Dragon, lower than a Dragon Medium from a Fire Giant kind of drop. Ask in a week after the number of total shields has risen.
  2. More importantly, what's right with the old one? The campaign is for 'A New Banking System', but you can't even call the current bank a 'system'. It is simply a blob of items randomly thrown in there. You can tell people to be organized, but if everyone took the time to reorganize their bank each time they deposited a new item, Zezima would've never gotten all his 99's and whatnot. He'd have spent all day organizing.
  3. All these answers are when people got rich in one day. (Me too, though, so no room to talk) Doesn't anyone have a story with a deeper meaning?
  4. Turning into a pile of bones would be not only cool, but downright useful. Running from PKers? Give them the slip by climbing down a ladder and hiding amongst the other bones. But if there was an entire set of Reaper's Robes, you know what I'd like to see in their design? Every other set of black robes is actually a dark shade of gray, or a very light shade of black. I think it'd be cool to have a set of black robes that don't have any shading to show texture, or character depth, or anything like that, but just a set of totally black robes. Like, wherever you are standing should look like someone marked on your computer screen with Sharpie.
  5. . . . I remember when 18 was the max hit for Rangers, period . . . Every form of combat has become much stronger (Remember when Iban Blast was > all magic), but as long as they all become stronger in equal amounts I guess it stays balanced. Melee is still the powerhouse attack style, with Dharoks able to one-hit kill all but the strongest of players. Rangers have the advantage of speed. A good ranger can hit low 20's with extreme rapidity (even if MSB special misses half the time, a lucky special can be obscenely powerful). And the Mage's most powerful attack can keep you frozen for an entire third of a minute, while the mage takes you out at his leisure from 10 cells away. We've come a long way bronze daggers and oak bows ...
  6. Ohhh, that's a good point. I'll check, but if Pest Control was in fact introduced after this post, then you're right, that mini game has affected Runescape more than any other update, ever. Even more than RS3D or when they removed fatigue. :D (Well maybe not as big as those, but Pest Control has become a -huge- thing.)
  7. I wish I'd gotten to this thread earlier, since I'm sure nobody will see this post, but, to anyone who says that drops are random? No such thing as random. If a thing was 100% random, with all possible outcomes having equal probability, then barrows gear would be as common from the reward chest as runes, or even more common, since there are more types of barrows gear than there are types of runes. It's pure chaos theory. If you look at it from close up, everything appears random, but if you recorded your results, you'd start to develop some solid statistics. Pretend you did 100 barrows runs and got one barrows item. Does that mean that the chance of getting a barrows item is 1%? No, because your friend probably did 100 runs and got 5 barrows items, while your other friend got 0. That's because the test group is too small to accurately measure the odds when dealing with probabilities this small. However, if you did 1,000 barrows runs, and came out with 10 barrows items, we can start to draw out some better statistics, because we have a larger test group. Your friend who got 5/100 last time almost certainly would not be so lucky for a thousand runs, which is to say there's little chance he'd get 50 barrows items in 1,000 runs. With a larger test group we can make better estimates at the chance of getting a barrows item. Now pretend you did 100,000 barrows runs, and altogether those runs earned you 1,000 barrows items. With a test group this large, we could say with much greater certainty that the chance of getting a barrows item was exactly 1%, or near 1%. And then, if we go yet another step up, let's say you did 1,000,000 barrows runs, and ended up with exactly 10,000 barrows items. At this point, with such a great test group, we can almost certainly say that the chance of getting a barrows item is 1%. And then if you go higher still, and did 100,000,000 barrows, and after all that you had exactly 1,000,000 barrows items, then we could say with absolute certainty that the chance of getting a barrows item was 1%. Do you see what I'm saying? Most of the time, people will only record 100 runs or so and try to draw a conclusion from such a small test group. This is lunacy. If we had 100 people barrowing round the clock, until we had exact data on the results for 100,000 barrows runs, we could draw far more satisfying conclusions. rant>
  8. Well, skill capes are fun to show off, I'll give you that, but the only way they could really affect how you play RuneScape is they they give many people a great drive to reach Lv99 in a skill. They motivate you, you might say. But they don't really help you much once you've got one. EDIT: And that's true. They've gone a long way towards balancing the PKing triangle, but can you be a bit more specific? ^_^ EDIT: I've got one to add. This world-change button they've added to the login screen is nice. It allows people to PK with greater ease, and no repeated loading. Very useful. EDIT: I'll blame low-trafic midnight hours for the fact that such a good thread idea has so few responses. Should've waited until noon to post or something. I mean, a mod hasn't even come along yet to remove Suiku's spam after I reported it. :?
  9. I'm proud of you guys. :) After reading the first page, I expected this to turn into a 'I love Zezima thread', but everyone has managed to stay mostly on topic so far. Although this makes me kind of a hypocrite ... Anyway, ON TOPIC! I never really found any advantage in using Melzar's Maze. I didn't know there were ghosts there, I always killed them in the other places with 1-2 spawns. Maybe this is an oversight and they didn't really intend to lock us out, but more likely, they don't want people bringing friends to help with Dragon Slayer. It's supposed to be the hardest F2P quest, and where's the thrill if you know your friend can get your stuff if the Lesser Demon kills you? (For me personally that Lesser was harder than the dang dragon.)
  10. This was written by our own Bloodveld, around 18 months ago, shortly after the release of the Mage Training Arena in Al Kharid. What I want to know is, what updates in the time between this post and now have truly affected RuneScape. What updates have changed the way we play everyday? Was Bloodveld right? Were there really no more updates that we truly needed? Now, here's my answer to this question. This post was before the Construction skill & Player Owned Houses, and nobody can say that having a POH hasn't affected the way they play, with all the useful features there (teleport room, fixed glory, banking from home). But (and maybe I'm forgetting something important here), what else since then has really, really changed RuneScape for the better? Post away. EDIT: So far, the really big ones we've got are ... Player owned houses Pest control Re-evaluation of the combat triangle Skill cape Pure essence New magic book (Lunars) Defenders
  11. OOC: So tired of British people thinking their sense of humor is more sophisticated than American's. Two constables chasing a grave robber in sped-up animation, while Yakety Sax plays in the background isn't exactly high brow stuff. Monty Python is brilliant though, I'll admit. On-Topic: The entire game of RuneScape is built around humor. If you want a game that takes itself too seriously and has no humor, play WoW or something. RuneScape makes up for its bad graphics with good jokes. You could look all year and you'd never find all the jokes hidden around RS.
  12. I think they have, and I think I know why, too. Have you been to F2P lately? It's absolutely riddled with bots. There are hundreds, literally hundreds of LV3 yew cutter bots in every world. Every yew tree has its own set of about 10 Lv3's woodcutting, and every time the tree respawns and they start chopping, about 50 random events appear immediately. It may be an attempt to reduce botting on free world.
  13. Kashi replied to Toad's topic in General Discussion
I'll just repeat exactly what I said on the official thread about this.
  14. I've got a good story for this. Around Christmas time was it .. last year or two years ago? I guess it was two years. It was Christmas eve, and I was so hard up for GP that I actually prayed to get a G.Spear from barrows, so I could afford to buy the runes to get to 85 Mage, so I could finally actually PK. Well long story short, my first barrows run on the afternoon of Christmas day (after presents but before dinner), I came out with a shiny new Guthan's Spear (10m+ at the time). Now when I said 'Prayer' I meant 'I made a deal with God', and my half of the deal was that if I did get a spear, I wouldn't play RuneScape again until the new year. (6 days of self restraint can be tough.) Well, long story short, I didn't hold up my end of the bargain, and I was on again by December 27th. God, apparently, didn't like this so much. I did end up getting to 85 Magic, (Well, 83, but at least I could still teleblock with a mind bomb). However, on my first trip out using teleblock, I experienced catastrophic internet disconnection and lost about 1m worth of stuff. So I guess the day I got the spear was the best day ever (it was my first G.Spear, but I've had 3 more since then), and the day when I died horribly was the moment of, "Well .. I guess I kind of deserved that." Don't screw with God, especially on Christmas. He's kind of all powerful. :XD:
  15. There is only one answer to this question, and it is a single sentence; Look out, here comes TzTok-Jad! Or when I was helping Panda do Desert Treasure, he MUST have lagged, because I was screaming at him to put on Prayer when he was fighting the smoke guy, and he -still- didn't do it. That guys hits 35's. :XD: Two hits, he's down, luckily I thought ahead and brought law runes so I could telegrab his stuff for him.
  16. Remember Construction, though? It was such a big update being promised for so long, but they didn't tell us in advance that it was coming. You just logged on one day, saw there was and update, they like, listed a few other updates, and then they were like ... "Oh, also by the way--PLAYER OWNED HOUSES!" So they might not tell us at all when it's coming up.
  17. For those of you who are new around here, a bit of history: The Dragonfire Shield was what the Anti Dragon shield was called originally, but this led people to sell tons of them to unsuspecting newbs who were lured in by the fact that the name was so cool. By changing it to the Anti Dragon Shield, they made it clear that this shield was only effective against dragons. But now they've added a brand new shield more worthy of such a great name. :)
  18. Alright, see, someone explained it to me. That's the kind of thing this character is meant to test. In order to get myself a cape like that, I'll have to forego the '60+ Combat level' requirement which I set for myself before getting members. That also means I'll have get it before doing Dragon Slayer. So my new goal to achieve before getting members is: All free quests complete 1m+ total GP
  19. My plan is to not get a membership until I have completed the following goals: 1 million+ total GP All free quests complete Combat Lv60+ After playing different online games for months, returning to RuneScape as a newb is kinda' nice. I only told one person I met about the project, everyone else assumes I'm a new player. I've been playing the part, asking people how to do stuff and etc. :) Pretend newb-ery is fun.
  20. Untrimmed .. wha'? I dunno' what that is. How would one achieve that?
  21. Sure do. :) Just because I'm starting over in the game, doesn't mean I have to start over in the friends department too! For old friends who would like to keep in touch, my new character's name is, as you probably guessed from the above paragraph ... Kashi_Reborn ! Send me some PMs, I'd love to hear from you guys.
  22. Removed old post to this location: The Kashi Reborn Project! Just a crappy Freewebs, but still more easily navigated than some cluttered, tiny thread. What I'll do from now on is log every day on Tip.it, then at the end of the week move it to the site. Should make things alot simpler, instead of having a thread containing 1,000 days of RS logs. Okay, it's now day 25, and I haven't been keeping up with this very well. Mostly it's because I haven't been playing much at all. I don't tihnk daily updates are necessary at this point, and instead of marking each log with a day, I'll just use the actual date. That should make it easier to keep track of things when I go a day or two without playing. Right?
  23. I only took the time to read the first page and a half of this thread, so if I missed something forgive me. Perhaps if they divided the points into three types, where points from one boat gave less XP than points from another boat. And then maybe games played from one boat would be easier or harder than games played from another. So basically, if you played out of the most difficult boat, the games would be much harder and therefore would give more XP, but of course they'd have to add a level requirement. Ummm .. Basically what I'm saying is, it'd be great if there were 100+ combat boats, so long as the games played from them were so difficult as to make the success rate of the game about 75% or even 50%. It would level it out as far as XP, but would stop the higher ups from having to deal with annoying newbs and things like that. Or the whole thing could be a mistake maybe. :XD: EDIT: Or maybe! The easiest boat would give three points, or two, but you wouldn't be able to use it once you were above a certain level. That way people would rise very quickly to combat Lv80+, but their training would slow down dramatically after that, and eventually they'd become so disgusted with the whole thing they would quit. And that would solve your community problem right there.
  24. Does anyone know the stat/level requirements to wield a Mystic Battlestaff? The attack power is supposedly similar to that of a rune sword, so if you could equip a Lv3 character with one they'd be rather all-powerful against other Lv3's. Just curious.
  25. If you look back in the very, very old section of the Treasure Trail rewards thread, you'll find me posting some stuff. I even have old sigs saying "Kashi~Treasure Hunter!". I was a Treasure Trail -nut-. I love them. Alot. EDIT: Aww ... I guess they've remade that thread. My accomplishments, they are gone!! WHY?!
