  2. Personal bonuses for crew, and traits for at least captains, possibly crew too. I've decided to stick in the Arc for another day or two, as I probably wont have the time to run all my voyages (specially not one at a time in the Skull), and I fudged my last voyage last night, and don't have close to the money I need to get rid of all my lowest tier crew (like my smugglers). I figure if there are missions in the Arc I can't meet, not matter what (like seamanship I can currently muster just over 1600), then I would like to look at entering the skull region with a better roster. With any luck, I can pick up a few lower difficulty Skull voyages to get a starting stock of gun powder. Not sure about the ship upgrade vs crew thing. For the Arc, I started with crew, and then bought upgrades as I needed them. I think I'll stick with this if it keeps working for me. By getting the crew first, I get to train them up while I get more stuff for the upgrades, so I should end up with better ships at the end of the day vs buying upgrades to go on missions for resources for better crew.

Ah. That's still brutal, though not quite as much. Honestly, I don't think anyone should ever write two exams in a day, at least never back to back. Attention is not an infinite resource that you have at your disposal by virtue of being awake. The brain can become fatigued just as the body can.
  4. Nice, I was actually toying with the idea of writing a program myself in Java to figure out the best crew combinations. Cept I can't really do a GUI yet, or save information to a file. Kind of need the second one. A particular feature I would like, though I have only begun to toy around with how I would set up the math, is two ship optimization. Essentially to see what crew I would use to send two ships on two missions, and to check to see if it's viable. I can build a single crew pretty fast, but depending on how I do it for some missions, I can make sending out the other ship a very bad idea
  5. If my cyclops died...I'd eat my ship. At least he has rallying cry instead of suicidal hero like my golems (note to self: always put a golem on dangerous missions with cyclops). I am nervous about the skull region. On the one hand, staying the arc for another day means I'm pretty much twiddling my thumbs. All my crew are levels 2 and 3, I have a cyclops, and pretty much every upgrade I can buy for my ship, and I'll probably have everything bamboo can handle by the last voyage (I am missing a hull). I could however level up my crew some more, as I am not entirely on top of the Arc. As I type, I have a ship sitting in port doing jack, because if I send out both ships during the last 3 missions I have a bigger chance of killing someone than I like, especially since I'm not exactly on the clock. While my crew can handle anything in the Arc if the whole pool is available, it is a challenge to equip a second ship when the first keeps stealing the better people. In particular, I could really go for another first mate. His solidarity and his own skills have made him my best crew bar none. There is not a single mission that he can't make (substantially) more doable.
  6. Now that I have finally gotten to sending my ships (day 2) I am very much enjoying this, mostly fishing while I wait for my ships to return. Good to know that you still want some seafaring and moral when you don't need it. So far so good though. Right now I have ships out to get me money because I am going to need cannons to get a ship up to 2000 combat. If they really haul it in, I can go back for a battle hull as well for another 50 points, but I think the cannons should do it. Glad I picked up a second golem, and my cyclops is going up nicely. I am also going to assume that a third ship, when I can get it, will increase my missions per day, so I brought on a third captain and 6 additional crew (I wanted that second golem). I do seem to have an elite set who go on most of the best missions, but training up a third crew in preperation is affording me nice flexibility. So far I've been able to get my ships over 90% pretty much every time, and in cases where I can't, I've been able to do other missions so that I can, either by training my crews or getting new toys for my ship. And I'm going to be different and say that I like the place being instanced and a bit empty. I mean, I wouldn't mind it bustling with NPC's, but if I am going to be the port master, I really want to be the only one. I want it to me my port where I can go to get away from the players. I also massively dislike the combinations for combination special missions. There are two other skills I would consider pushing towards 90 for this, and the three I would have are all in different categories. I'd prefer if they had done it so that have any 2 or any 3 of the skills would give you this option, rather than only any 4 guaranteeing you combo runs.
  7. Depending on the level, things like dancing and running have the added benefit (to you) of filtering out pretty much anyone with self image problems (as in you get an above average hot/cuteness ratio). Applies best to teenagers. Past that, people stop caring so much. I'd probably avoid taking up an activity with the pure intention of meeting people though, that's really for dating sites. Pick something your going to enjoy, and ideally, something you will be somewhat competent at. Always goes better when they see you being competent.
  8. I assume he means either one side gets a blinking green arrow (preventing the other from moving), or both sides do, so no can move.
  9. I can back up at least the poor internal co-operation and communication from interacting with them as a player mod. The frequency with which Jagex reorganizes it's employees is actually kind of alarming. I'd peg them at about 6 months. Not everyone moves of course, just all the bosses, in true Dilbert style. I'm also pretty sure the website team doesn't actually exist, and their website is contract work (it isn't really, but they only seem to do anything when it's an honest to god crisis, which suggests it's not getting the resources it needs to function). I don't know. Some of them really love their job (this is normally means they are on the list of people who will next be moved), and others aren't that into it, which I suppose is normal.

4 finals in one day? Ouch. Our University won't let you take more than two in a day.
  11. A few thoughts. First, don't confuse civil union with common law marriage. The former is a marriage, with a judge instead of a church official. The latter is where you gain some of the legal rights of marriage because you've been living together for x number of years. There are however legal advantages to getting a civil union or marriage certificate, especially during tax season. The common law marriage is more for protection in case you split. As for you Noxx. I think I'll keep it short and sweet. Maybe you two have a future, maybe you don't. There are a lot of if's surrounding both of you, and I doubt any of us could really say which way the wind is going to blow. I think you've created a power imbalance. She see's, true or not, that she needs you more than you need her, and that's bad in either direction. You might have also planted some trust issue seeds, but whether they matured or not is probably impossible to say without dating her again.
  12. A vulnerability in Internet Explorer versions 6 through 10 allows websites to track your mouse while they are open in the program, even if IE is minmized. While RuneScape bank pins should be safe against this as the numbers move around, anyone who uses an onscreen keyboard to avoid any potential keyloggers would be vulnerable. From this article on spider.io:
  13. In regards to the buttons 4 pages back, the problem is that the ticks are .6 seconds, so anything that has to sequentially go through selections is a pain because it can only ever update that fast. Thinks like sliders, drop down menues, and boxes allow the game to present your client with all the possible options, and then wait for the client to get back to it with your selection, rather than hammering on a button and needing to wait to see the result of your actions. In miscellania you can add/remove several workers per tick, but it doesn't show until the next one, and there is no way to select the value you want strait up. And now to finally try this.

The Day's of Uncertainty. All I did today was set up a tekkit server on my computer. Not really planning on running it as even a part time server though. Ideally, I just want it to be a host for me and my friends stuff so we can show out stuff off, help out from time to time, and maybe have a war or two. I did get up after lunch though because I once again managed to totally unhinge my sleeping schedule, and I'm right back to being a vampire.
  15. Okay yeah, you'll have to use some judgement on the falling out, specifically the exact causes, including less obvious underlying causes like pent up frustration about something, and what the lasting effects might be (did it create trust issues that will never go away for example).
  16. I'd do prefer it if they can keep the micro stuff out of the game, so I do mind the wheel a bit. But I am also past the point where I particularly care how I stack up, and I'm not particularly competitive by nature. For the most part, I see a higher quality of updates with me paying the same membership I was paying in '07, plus $5 for some soloman stuff. If other people are going to subsidize the game for me, without really impacting how I play, then I'm all for it. It's like a perfect selective tax. I do agree with fallstar though that there seems to be some heads in the sand about the SOF. If you goal is to compete, it becomes mandatory, unless you already have such a fantastic lead that people can only catch you by blowing obscene amounts of money.
  17. Split off some talk about microstansactions to it's own thread, here. Please resume EOC specific talk on this thread :)
  18. While congratulations are always nice, please refrain from reviving an old topic if your not adding something to an old discussion. Locked the thread to prevent any more pointless replies in response. Cheers
  19. If the breakup was purely over logistics, then I don't see an issue starting it up again now that circumstances have changed.

I think this is the standard Canadian format for purely numerical dates. Spoken I hear both orders. When the month is written, always month before day. It does sound nicer, and it's also shorter.

That's the one. I do like that picture, and now find it impossible to picture him looking like anyone but that guy. I'd also love to know the story behind that picture.
  22. I've managed to still not try this. Wondering what the user interface is like. My experience has been that all interfaces in RuneScape are really clunky since they tend to be very button oriented, which is absolutely horrid when combined with server ticks that are more than half a second long). I mean, I'll find out for myself obviously, I'd just like to now how much I need to brace myself for potential buttons covered parchment a la MTK (which might have the single worst clunky and cobbled together UI in the game).

Stress could do it, as could being tired. Both will diminish your ability to concentrate, potentially to nearly nonexistent levels. I didn't realize that you wouldn't be able to see his profile Vezon, though I can guess why. I can see his profile however.
  24. Randox replied to Leoo's topic in Off-Topic
His account exists. I think he even reads the forums a bit from time to time. Can't say I was a personal fan, not in the end, but he did have an impressive image library, and I did like his main avatar. Not the one he ended with though. Some ugly dude.
