I used to like texas tech when they had Bob Knight.

He wasn't humiliating his opponents. He was quite clearly looking towards the crowd and he slapped his left chest in a show of pride for his country. Unless of course, you mean he's deliberately antagonising you like them awful gays in San Fran do. To give less than your best and then taunt your opponents DURING the race is an insult. Michael Phelps doesn't wait 3 second and give everyone a head start then go kill them. He gives his best.

Well when I was a senior I went out with a freshmen. But she was only 3 years younger than me. She looked like a freshmen in college though. She already had a fake id and it worked every time. People used to give me a hard time until they actually saw her. I went to her prom this year and now she looks older than me.

It might be legal but if I ever saw anyone do it they would be in the hospital. People have died for that flag. And this topic just reminded me of something I saw a few days ago. You have to watch this. e2fd9ivL1Vg fixed youtube link ~pryo

2012 Olympics Ceremony - let's not throw away over $300mil?

Yet you still do it. Actually, my family has never bought from those stores. The Empire is also the sole reason I refuse to be called British. Not all of us take delight in dominating the world to our will, jack. ;) Nevertheless, living my idealist socialist lifestyle in a capitalist structure would be totally naive. Hence why the system needs to be changed. So please don't bother inferring I'm a hypocrite when my life and everything it stands for clearly says otherwise. Okay so? My family has never shopped at wal-mart. Does that make me special too? And you actually refuse to be called british? Do you prefer english or something? England isn't that bad of a place. The food is terrible but that's nothing to be ashamed of. When he said he refuses to be called British I think it's more in relation to the old British empire of the 1600's - 1900's practically ruling most of the world and pillaging / raping many countries it was in command of for it's resources / welfare. Nothing in relation to food quality or anything  Well I'm not actually *that* stupid. German people have no problem calling themselves German. -
To me that guy is just a disgrace. To give anything less than your best in the Olympics just to humiliate your opponents is terrible sportsmanship. I have no problem with celebrating after the race but to do what he did is disgraceful. :shame:

The food is terrible but that's nothing to be ashamed of. Where did I say I'm special? Do you argue digressed points for fun or something? My point had absolutely nothing to do with me or how I live my life. And frankly, I don't see what business it is of yours anyway. Wal-mart may pay minimum wage but they bring millions out of poverty around the world. Not to mention saving families money in the United States. And it's my business when you start on your whole "The United States is evil, capitalism is evil, wal-mart is an evil corporation that murders african children and I don't shop there so I'm somehow better than the people who do" -
That counts. She is just adorable.

Then Rice will say the same thing again, and the US will do nothing. If Russia was some rinky dink weakling country, you can bet your sure fire [wagon] we'd be pulling Iraq 2.0....Russia, S. Ossetia, Georgia..oil galore. This is the thing. At this point the Neocons aren't achieving anything other than broadcasting to the world how utterly ineffectual America is at diplomacy, and how totally broken our ability to influence foreign affairs without direct involvement. You'd think it would be more in our interests to just shut up, so people don't notice that nobody's listening to us. I think at this point, even if Rice had the cure for cancer, no one would be interested. So if russia had not invaded Georgia we would have invaded an ally of ours? Sounds pretty likely. And we are not really ineffective at diplomacy. We were pretty successful with the North Koreans. Sarkozy just beat us to the punch. He's a beast though.

To you, maybe. The rest of us aren't bigoted with pro-Western morality. It's a country of 1 billion people. The US is under a third of that size. It stands to reason China will use more authoritarian measures to control a vaster population. Moreover, it's clearly working since China will overtake you as the world's economic superpower in 20 years. I despise this "Communism bad, West good" mentality. I like to think for myself as a human. Independence is a wonderful gift. I don't see how their growing economy somehow makes them nice. And China isn't even really that strict with it's citizens. Mostly it just leaves them alone unless they get in the way. I've been to Shanghai a couple times. It isn't really nice but it's pretty interesting. I think of myself as a human too. I'd assume you are not alone in that despite what you may think. China is bad because of their actions in Tibet, darfur, and their religious tolerance which isn't even limited to their own country.

Thats the point.

No I would want us to do it to them.

Sure, anyone can. But you can't deny the correlation. Why is it that the government essentially consists of the same family trees? No it doesn't. Maybe Ted Kennedy and George Bush. Go through the names of everyone from the house. Or even the senate. Most of them aren't from political families. Neither of the two candidates running for President are.

They'll probably have them in venezuela within 5 years.

Anyone can go to a good college. Maybe rich people send their kids to private high schools which would give them a better chance of going to college.

What is wrong with a missile defense shield?

Of the nations millionaires only like 2% inherited their money. The rest are self made. They can't search your house for no reason, they can't arrest you for no reason, and they can't torture you. Actually, they can. Bills stating such rights have been abolished due to terrorism. They need it to be easier to take down a 'terrorist' instead of waiting to get a warrant and that man does something in that time. No they haven't. They still need a warrant.

Basic social economics - the majority of people are NOT middle class. That's just a term that's loosely flung about these days to describe anyone with a fancy job. Unless you can live without having to work for a wage, you are not anything above working class. And believe me, without state subsidies, the working class do NOT live comfortably. What do you mean subsidies? Tax cuts?

I have to agree. When I was young I couldn't leave my block. If I wanted to go to the playground near my old house (3 blocks away) my mom went with me. These days I see kids who are maybe 7 or 8 years old trying to cross main roads (35+mph, high traffic, poor drivers, etc). My mom would killed me herself before she let me attempt that as a kid.. I think it is the opposite. When I was little I used to walk to the park or friends houses or just explore by myself. My little cousin can't even play outside by himself because my aunt's afraid of child molesters.

The warrantless wiretapping is only if you call overseas and the party on the other end of the call is a suspected member of al qaida. There are not warrantless searches. What they do have are called 'sneak and peek' searches. This is where if the get a warrant they can search a suspected terrorists house and not alert them to the fact that they are being investigated which could harm the investigation. I can not think of a single abuse by any of the intelligence agencies. They can't search your house for no reason, they can't arrest you for no reason, and they can't torture you.

Congress. The President would only be able to start a military operation if Congress allowed it (although I do believe very extreme situations can warrant him acting without Congress). And Congress is currently very Democratic. I just wanted to say that. And Yomyth, you're so very insightful about the world. :twss: I think he can start a military operation but if it lasts longer than 60 days congress needs to approve it.
