I wasn't planning on selling/buying. I was merely curious as to what peoples thoughts were about the removal of offensive bonuses from armour. I can't remember reading this anywhere, but was it only armour that was having offensive bonuses removed? No removal of these bonuses from jewellery? RSOF is having a field day with speculation and I can't distinguish rumour from what Jagex have actually stated.
-
Does anyone have any theories on what will happen with Bandos? I heard somewhere they are removing offensive bonuses from Armour.
-
It won't be worth it purely for time saving. But since Suomi has stated he plans on getting the Completionist Cape after he's 200m all surely the earlier he does livid farm the better. Although it really does depend on his goals.
-
All are good, but I would say: Turmoil (+ SS) > Unicorn > Ovls.
-
So do you care a little bit, or do you mean couldn't care less? *end pet peeve rant*
-
If you read the update they plan on reducing the experience a high-level player gets for killing a low-level monster: However, I agree it would be stupid to assign tasks that give you reduced combat experience. I would hope that during Slayer tasks you never have your Combat experience reduced - but you never know.
-
I don't want to get into an debate with you, nor go off-topic, but you're arguing two completely different points. Penalized and less useful are two completely different things. There was never, and won't be any penalization for being well-rounded in PvM. Granted Ranged and Magic are less useful than Melee, but you are by no means penalized for having the Magic and Ranged levels. PvP is a different story, although you were never really penalized for having balanced offensive combat stats, just for having defence. I believe the combat update is going to greatly reduce the effectiveness of Melee in a lot of situations, so having well balanced stats will be key to being successful at PvM. PvP, it's hard to judge at the moment.
-
Being a Mage isn't a well rounded character though, and solely playing using one combat style is going to, in my opinion, be even harder after the update than before. I do agree that well-rounded players got penalized in PvP though, but poorly rounded players generally were unable to successfully PvM.

I meant it in the sense that making Prayer less useful than it is now = nerf. So yeah you're right. I just don't see it as a good thing, but it's pretty much inevitable since it's not being included in the new combat formula. Same with Summoning. If they aren't weakened in relation to everything else then they are going to be extremely overpowered, but if they are nerfed their usefulness decreases a lot. I don't particularly enjoy the connotation that these skills are going to be less important that equipment. But maybe I'm completely wrong, this is just my worry. I'm excited in the sense that the new abilities/buffs should be a great addition to combat, and that using a variety of equipment will be rewarded. I'm just worried that these improvements are going to come at the expense of the non-combat skills that aid combat. Edit: Urza. I completely agree player skill should win out, but that's why I'm worried about Prayer. By not including it in the Combat level calculations it means that if two players of the same level are fighting, the player with prayer will generally win regardless of skill (using how important prayer is now). So to make it more about player skill they're going to have to massively decrease prayers effectiveness to counter this. Which seems dumb to me. Maybe they're going to nerf it for PvP only, and make special prayer for each role and have a reason to have a person using each role rather than straight out DPSer's.

I agree with you in some ways, and disagree with you in others. I like that it sounds like the combat triangle is going to be much more balanced. Range and (debatably) Magic are, at the moment, generally inferior to Melee in most situations, including situations where they should be better based on the combat triangle. But in most places Melee is superior even if one of the other styles should be stronger. There are, of course, exceptions such as in a Dungeon, DKs, Fight Kiln and places where some styles are nerfed (Glacors, Ice Strykes and Gano's come to mind) and it will be nice to have all of Runescape like this. Where different Slayer Monsters require different combat styles, techniques, equipment etc. Though, it sounds like if you do only use one combat style you're still going to be massively penalised in the fact you can only effectively fight enemies that melee. As for pures, we don't know how effective they're going to be yet. I mean sure they're going to increase the importance of defence but in reality it might even favour some pure builds. I mean flat 99's with 1 defence will be 102 combat, the same as flat 50's. Unless the person with flat 50's has somewhere in the region of 5x the health of the pure then the pure is going to walk all over them. We just don't know yet. Whilst removing Prayer from combat levels makes calculating them easy, I still think it's stupid in the sense that what they are trying to do, by changing the formula, is accurately portray your combat abilities by your combat level. Prayer has a huge effect on your combat ability and it's crazy to exclude it. I draw two possible conclusions from this. Either, like you said, they're going to nerf it, which effectively makes one of the most sought after, and expensive skills in the game relatively pointless, or it's going to be overpowered. I for one am going to be extremely annoyed if they nerf Summoning too, and like Prayer it's either going to be overpowered or relatively useless with the new proposed formula. Constitution level I imagine will only be important for wearing health boosting gear, hence you will be visually able to see their effective constitution level. Although an update like this really nerfs to ability of lower levels to fight higher level bosses, which I don't particularly like. However, for the equipment rebalancing, I really hope they don't royally screw this up. Sure, I like that the variation of general use equipment should increase, it makes the game much more interesting. What I hope they don't screw up is how changing equipment works. If they're going to nerf hybridding they sure as hell better make us able to change gear during combat (which it seemed to be implied you weren't going to be able to do). This will make some activities near impossible. Less combat xp is fine, I like that idea. But I agree they should change Slayer Masters so, if you want, you can avoid tasks where you will get reduced xp from. I'm excited too. But I'm worried because there is a lot of potential for things to go wrong.

Thanks Quy, the help is much appreciated. Get better. And yes, when I finish my other goals I plan on joining DGS and learning to Dg efficiently.
-
Thanks Quyneax, all of that is very helpful. I have Tokhaar, a 300+ MA rank, + multiple clue scrolls (got 4 Abberant Spectre ones on the way to 99 Slayer), and 99 Summoning banked (as of last night). I plan on finishing all the tasks I can so that means I might as well do temple-trekking asap. As for fletching, is there any cheaper bolts/arrows that are worth doing? At 6-7gp/xp it seems like a whole lot of money for an extremely common 99. With superheating at the LRC: Is AHK required for this? I tried Superheating + low alching recently and found that I couldn't low alch fast enough to be faster than I was mining. Or is there a trick I'm missing (like dropping is faster than low alch?) I will find a guide for Arctic Pines, thanks for the suggestion :)
-
Hit them all once, lure them onto you, run a good distance from Jad (or to the safespot) and kill. Or leave one and out hit that one.
-
Gwasha: Thanks for that, will look into AHK. I did the miniquest for it a long time ago but can't remember it at all. The only two skill pairs I was really worried about were firemaking/woodcutting (Doing jadinko lair for fm first) and smithing/mining (I've heard it's common to superheat, but I don't know the method). Yeah I know I don't need 120 Dg for Max Cape, but Comp Cape seems like a reasonable goal for afterwards, plus I find Dg very fun so it's nice to break up the monotony of some skills with a couple of floors :) Say I am going for Comp Cape in the most efficient way possible (cf Max Cape) what other problems will I run into? Sxq: That's a very good point. Is there anything else like livid farm that is worth doing before I max?
-
Yes, I'm 99 Slayer, and all the other skills I didn't mention. I have heard about barbarian fishing, but have no idea how to do it. Any suggestions?

Hi Guys, I've finally reached the point in my RS career that Maxing (within a year or two) seems like a reachable goal. Below is my plan on how I will go about achieving this. Any advice or changes to my plans would be greatly appreciated. For now assume I have access to ~300m and can make atleast 2m/hr. Skill, Current Level, Plan. Defence - 85: Dagannoth Sentinels in the Dom Tower. Max Strength gear + Iron Titan + BGS spec. Prayer - 95: Dragon Bones on my Guilded Altar. Woodcutting - 95: Not sure. Arctic Pines when I want to pay attention, Ivy when I want to afk I would guess. Will do after Firemaking. Could combine with C2 fishing? Fletching: - 90: Adamant bolts (if I can buy), or stringing Magic Longs. Fishing - 82: C2 fishing and then rocktails when I get the level and want to afk. What is efficient if I get bored of C2? Firemaking - 92: Jadinko Lair (will do prior to Wc). Smithing - 83: Smelting gold with gaunts till 88 then Adamant Plates. Mining - 82: LRC conc gold. Don't know the best method though I assume it's a combination of low-alching, mining juju, urns and lava titan. Herblore - 96: Untradeables. Agility - 86: Gnome stronghold advanced course. This will probably be my last 99. Will use all my bonus xp on this (Lamps, pengs, bonus xp). Farming - 95: Will continue doing what I'm doing. Daily herb and tree runs. Shouldn't be a problem. Runecrafting - 90: Runespan. Hunter - 75: Jadinkos. Common until 80 then Draconics. I guess to get maximum xp I will need Zamorak favour, scentless and Arctic bear. Summoning - 96: I have almost all the charms, will get the rest of them via Glacors. Dungeoneering - 102: Continue what I've been doing. Is this a good plan? I don't have any idea on order. If there's an efficient order please let me know. Thanks for the help :)

I find the easiest way now is to just kill the healers. It takes longer, but recently in an update healers are able to heal Jad by just being around him, even if they are attack you. It doesn't take very long to kill them, just SoA them to death. If you're really worried you can lure most (if not all, depends on your spawn) into a spot that is safe from Jad and allow you to kill them without worrying about getting hit by Jad. They only respawn if they heal him to full health before you kill them.
-
Hence why I said re-trying. I used the Gano method last week and used less than 2 brew flasks on him. It's the only method you can really consider if lag is preventing you from prayer swapping efficiently. Ovls would help, but aren't required, just drink a sip of super restore every time you brew. You should be able to get to Jad with 12+ Brew flasks remaining. I don't really know how this method can fail. Make sure you use a Armadyl Battlestaff too. PPS is fine for all the pre-Jad waves.
-
But you shouldn't really be doing brews around those levels. When training Herblore around those levels you should be making at least some untradeable potions so you don't have to waste time + money after getting the levels if you need the potions. I don't see the point of getting 99 Herblore if you don't have a massive stock of untradeable potions. As for the original question, how much money do you have? Herblore - 100m+ if you make untradeables Runecrafting - Much more viable with the introduction of Runespan. Expect 100k+ xp/hr at 90+ which is also very afk. Definitely a skill I am considering as my next 99 (after summonintg) due to the ease of it. Farming - This is a very casual 99 and takes a long time due to only being able to get a set number of experience/day. I would suggest starting this as soon as possible by doing your most profitable herb every 90 minutes + a tree run once/day even if it doesn't end up being your first 99. The trees you use on your run depends on your budget (I can't get on Grimy's spreadsheets while on my Uni computer but I believe doing pineapples + willows is ~1-2gp/xp while doing Palms + Magics is 20-30gp/xp. I'm doing an inbetween method atm and doing willows or yews + papaya. Crafting - I would suggest doing this similar to farming if you have cash you can spare to sit around in the GE. Making air battlestaffs is ~4gp/xp but the amount of battlestaffs you can buy/day is limited. Cost me under 40m. Thieving - I found this a very fun 99. Definitely the easiest on your list.
-
In the case I would recommend re-trying the Gano Method. Your lack of Ovls will hurt but it should be easy enough if you use full Gano + SoA (with Armadyl Battlestaff). If you take a lot of damage just step into one of the safe spots (depending on where Jad spawned) to heal up and calm yourself.
-
If you're getting Overloads you should spend the time unlocking the EEE (upgraded enhanced excaliber - from the Seers tasks), which will greatly minimize the amount of healing you will need to do. I would definitely suggest EEK (Eagle Eye Kiteshield) over the CKS as it is better for both maging and ranging. Also some form of ranged defensive armour would be preferable (Cheap barrows will do) as you will often be tanking ranged.
-
From what I can gather from my own experience and Quyneax: Karil + a defender would have lower DPS (from you only) than Void (deflector) but allow the use of iron titan scrolls stored in the Helmet of Neitiznot which would increase the xp as well as the number of kills per hour from the Iron Titan equalling ~2 minutes worth of Goliath attack. So it depends if Elite Void gains you 2 minutes over Karil, which I don't know. Ideally, from what I can see, if your APM is high enough that you can losslessly flash SS while having deflect magic on then to maximise kills/hr: Max Str > Karil > Elite Void (all assuming Iron Titan). So it depends on whether you can be bothered dealing with the hassle of max strength gear over Karil to maximise kills & xp per hour. I may have a look to see if I can get a kills/hr difference between Karil and Elite Void when I get home.
-
Using a Firecape would shorten my trips (though if I had to guess only 10 minutes max) and leave me less room for emergency brews. But I will give it a go next time I try. I was thinking about trying what you suggested as well, but Void seemed like a good option because of it's offensive abilities, prayer and magic defence. Can you suggest a good body + legs instead of void if I did use non-void gear? Would Bandos be viable even though I would be at mercy of their magic attacks, or should I use Karil Top + Elite Bottom and just have a lower Strength bonus?

yea.... uhmm... no. so you want advice on how to get jagex to give you your stuff back, but won't take basic security measures to secure your account? Why should they bother (not that they do anyway  ) if you won't? You'll just get hacked again. That's what I got from his reply too. In all honesty there's nothing you can do to reclaim your items, just take the steps mentioned in the second and third posts outlining how to prevent getting hacked again. Sorry for your loss, but it is seriously unlikely that you took the proper steps to secure your account, so take this as a lesson for the future.
