I don't know if naming names is allowed in a positive sense, but I saw this on the RSOF and decided to share: A player named 'mefrog' got a lucky Divine from the SoF. It's too far down his RSS feed to see on his adventurers log, but it's on the long version. Can be seen here: http://services.runescape.com/m=adventurers-log/g=runescape/rssfeed?searchName=mefrog Guess they do actually exist :o

Any advice for someone that isn't 85 Defence for Gano? I have access to everything else (95 prayer, 96 Herb, Yak (soon), EEE, Dreads, SOA, etc) but I'm only 75 Defence.

Half the drop-rate makes effigy-scape non-viable from an efficiency viewpoint but doesn't screw over those medium-high total level players who want to Slay and Boss before they have the skills required to open all effigies.

It seems to me that the group of people supporting this update have a misguided view as to why the people against this update do so. The reason people are so mad about this update is not the fact that the effigy drop-rate has been reduced, hence making actual skilling better than collecting effigies. The people against this update, in general, are fine with this. The reason people are so angry with it is because those without the skills to open them have to go get an assist to make use of them. I, personally, was saving my effigies from my road to 99 slayer until I could open them all on my own which would have been a nice reward for training those particular skills. This update does not affect maxed/near-maxed players nearly as much as the 'supporters' are making out and effigy-scape is still as viable for them as ever. This update, instead of stopping effigy-scape, hurts medium-high total level players (a large proportion of the RS population) who are unable to open their own effigies that they have collected doing various combat-based activities (Slayer and Bossing) but plan on getting the effigy requirements in the future. This type of player is not nearly as uncommon as the supporters seem to make out. In-fact, most of my friends list is in this category, meaning that they either stop doing things they enjoy (Slayer/Bossing) and get all their skills able to open all effigies before starting up these activities again, or suffer a severe amounts of lost experience. A much better way to implement this update would have been to reduce effigy drop-rates enough to make effigy-hunting for the purpose of raising skills inefficient compared to doing the actual skill rather than making a 5 effigy limit. This would make effigy-scape non-viable from an efficiency standpoint, but not harm those players who receive effigies as a 'bonus' drop from doing activities they enjoy such as slayer and bossing. Instead, the way Jagex implemented this update means if you want to play for efficiency sake, and want to max at some point (Come on, admit it. This is the ultimate goal of almost every Runescape Player) you have to get all effigy skills to their required levels before doing any Slayer or Boss-hunting. I have heard that the drop-rate when you only have 1 effigy has not been maxed overly much and so it is still very viable to play the effigy-scape if you are near maxed/maxed. Sorry for the rant, however, I thought it was important to state that must people against this update are not angry due to the nerfed drop-rates, but angry because the nice bonus gained from getting an effigy drop before you are maxed (and saving for when you are close) has just disappeared.

I usually do my JOAT during a farming run. I do herbs first (Farm, Herb and Agil xp from Trolllheim shortcut) then do a tree run starting in varrock (tele - Magic) doing my the rest of my JOAT while there (saves the needs for ranged and banking for a fish. I find this more efficient for me as it saves me having to make a trip especially for JOAT.

I think i get what you mean. But a better solution could be making a base cape which you can "build on" with 99 capes. Example when you use Attack cape on this "base" cape you will give it attack bonus stats, then when you use ranged 99 cape - you give it ranged attack bonus. And so on. But then Jagex must make more rewards for Comp cape. Such as making 99 Agility cape making the "base" cape get the quality of lowering weight. And when you complete this "base" cape you will receive "Comp cape". -- Yeah that is what I meant by Mastery Cape. A Base cape which you add your other 99 capes to absorbing the abilities of each respective cape. This would require abilities to be added to each 99 Cape, however, and not just +1 to the respective stat. The Max cape would be all these abilities in one cape. - This idea however reduces the importance of other capes (Ardy, SW, Fire, Spirit, etc), and maybe these could somehow be added to the Base Cape aswell giving additional bonuses? Then the Completionist Cape could have added abilities. This idea is good in theory, but it would make capes really overpowered and would make 99's even more 'important' to get than when Skill Capes were first released. I do, however, agree that it seems silly that it requires non-combat skills to have the best combat cape in the game.
-
I don't know why you think combat deserves its own special cape. Surely since I have maxed Attack and Strength (without defense) then I deserve an offensive combat cape without the defense bonuses? Then you would have to cater to all play-styles which is what makes your idea stupid. I think a better idea would be to have a "Mastery Cape" in which you can add all your other skill capes which give bonuses to their respective skills. Then once filled up with all skills it becomes the Max cape, and then Completionist when all the other tasks are completed.

Man. I've burnt over 700 vyre corpses and not had a single treasure trail reward for it. -
It's up to you basically. Nobody knows how you plan to Pk. However at sub-max staking you won't want prayer (as you generally don't have prayer on in stakes and prayer will increase your combat level).

How to recover an account I don't remember the username?
Deletion replied to FellonyNoob's topic in Help and Advice
If the name has been changed recently (as indicated by the fact that it has a previously used name - If it has been inactive for 2 years I doubt it would still show your previous name), then the account is either not yours or someone has got access to it. -

Thought the name + gear was very ironic. -
You can brew out of it, his attacks are very slow.

It's been proven to work. You should be praying mage against the 360's anyway. With Ganodermic Jad maxes at around 570 (iirc?) due to the soaking so you can out heal his attacks and he will have low accuracy due to the mage defense.

It's a scam not a Glitch. He got you to lend him YOUR Santa then traded you and offered up HIS santa. He then declines this trade and uses YOUR santa back on you to give it back, making it looks like the trade went through successfully. You then gave him 'back' YOUR santa via trade. You never had his Santa, and you gave yours away without realising. Jagex will never roll back personal accounts because of a scam, sorry for your loss :(

To add to the above, with my limited testing, at 99 Magic is seems like a noticable increase in DPS over Fire Surge. I also tried it against Steels, and it seemed to me to be not too much lower DPS than a rapier there, though I was Ovling and I'm not 100% sure the guy I was comparing too was praying - I was killing faster than him though. I was using basic mage gear (ahrims, arc stream, slayer helm etc).

By training all our skills instead of just one or two at a time. I do thsi and still have like 100 free spaces. I do this, and have now have 30 free bank spaces. I have all I need for all skills, atleast a place holder of most raw materials (Herbs, Ores, Logs, Fish etc), atleast 60 spots dedicated to herblore and farming supplies, Melee, Range and Mage gear, about 30 effigies, and lastly around 70 spots full with cosmetic items (Most wearables from most quests :)) and hard to reobtain quest items, along with other misc. stuff. -
Do the monsters that require 88 slayer drop the sticks, or is it only the 95 slayer ones?
-
Stick with the hood for now, atleast until you've learnt all the little tricks to avoid taking damage and increase your DPS (side-stepping, prayer flashing, kiting etc). It's also definitely not qorth breaking your hood for a Prom plate, which is what you'll be looking at.

Really, duel arena is 50/50? Fascinating. Tell you what...make a character that's 40 in all combat stats. I'll make one that's low def, high atk/str but at the same combat level (basically at least 70 str/atk). I'll also only accept wager when the rules allow for no food, pots, mage, range, armor or shields. Basically, nothing but melee 1h weapons. Oh, and I have a abyssal whip. Now, in this 50/50 match, how many matches out of 100 will you win again? No, seriously try to answer 50 and not to be laughed at by anyone in this forum. By the way, virtual numbers of a virtual character, even if they're termed 'skills' does not a game of skills make. Java is still a pseudo-random number generater so it's still about chance. However, you can skew those chances in your favor if you know the system. That's no more skill that saying "55x2", no matter how you try to skew it. I think that's the point. By dueling you are using gameplay to your advantage, which requires skill and skills, rather than just dumb-luck. Yes it is still gambling, of sorts, but as Jagex said, it involves gameplay and skill, skills and tactics. We're all sorry that you lost your form of income, but good riddance. If I'm honest they probably removed it due to the amount of scamming, spamming, etc that it caused rather than because it is a form of gambling.

My Girlfriend moved into my flat today. We're going to be living together by ourselves (in a flat designed for 6 people) over summer as we both are working for the Uni. Should be interesting. She's making us Butter Chicken with Naan for dinner, and let me tell you she makes amazing Butter Chicken (y).

Hi all, I'm currently 80 smithing and looking at 88 for the varrock elite diaries (and just cause I want to be able to smith rune <3). I got to 80 by using smelt/super-heating gold ores at the same time, however due to a moderately recent update it's no longer possible to do these two at the same time. So I was wondering what's the best way to train smithing now. I have been hearing a bit about the Artisian workshop and was wondering what's the best way to train there and what kind of xp rates I can expect. I'd also like to know the gp/xp cost if possible. Thanks in advance :)

I'm going to have to disagree with you here. More often than not a person will ask a question for example how to do something, giving no stats, gear, requirements, criteria, etc. Then once they get given an answer they say 'but this is how I want to do it', completely wasting the time of all the people that tried to help them, and thus the people that gave them the advice (generally the efficiency crowd) get annoyed. I think this is how they get given a bad reputation, not because they don't answer questions to the askers specifications, but because it is extremely annoying when answering somebodies question who just ignores the advice given and does it their own way anyway. I agree with the dungeoneering comments though, the skill has definitely become more elitest and efficiency based. However, saying that, it's not unenjoyable like many people make it out to be, as long as you aren't skilling, being a surivor prod, and follow orders given it is easy enough to do a 25-30 minute large (Yes, slow I know) on W148 with a group of randoms. I still find the skill immensely fun even though I have crappy internet and am often slow to gd's due to doorlag, even with the occasional keyer who hurls unneeded and pointless abuse.

Now that is an idiotic statement, Makaveli has been a long time contributor to this thread and won't have made up his opinion on Gemeos over night. I read this thread everyday, and everyday Gemeos makes some statement about efficiency, and that he has the best method to do thing, that he's going for 200m all skills, that he has 35b bank, that he can make 25 (or was it 75?) m/hr, yet uses rocktails for cooking. It's that kind of arrogant attitude, that he's always right and that he's better than you because he's efficient, that has got him so hated. He reminds me of a guy who I live with, he planned to run a marathon this year and started training for it. Once he started building up some fitness, he ran a half marathon and then started criticising everyone else's exercise habits, that we weren't going often enough, that we were too slow, that we didn't go far enough. This reminds me of Gemeos, criticising people who don't have an end-goal, who exercise for fun and to be healthy and fit, not to run a Marathon. If you actually care he worked his way up to running 200m Cooking, I mean a half marathon all the while criticising everyone else, then ended up pulling out of the full Marathon because he couldn't finish it. Let me tell you there's a big difference between running a half marathon and running a full 200m all skills. If that's your goal fine, just don't bring it up every chance you get and criticise everyone else along the way, who are playing for fun. And you say mine was an idiotic statement haha, I don't even have to read your bibalical length post to know that. You've assumed I'm talking about Makaveli within an instance of reading my post, typical kid. Oh sorry you were talking about the only other post in-between your two that wasn't Makaveli and was relevant to what you were saying, even though you had quoted Makaveli previously on the page, my mistake. Even if you weren't talking about Makaveli the rest of my post still stands. Don't come here trying to defend your 'friend' if you're too illiterate to read 8 lines of paragraphed text that state why he's being hated on, kid.

I havent even been drunk yet... My problem is finding an environment TO get drunk, no one has house parties anymore and in Newcastle its not to wise to get drunk for a first timer because you've no idea how you'll react AND it's a bit of a crime city when it comes to drunken fights and knifes. Ring up a few mates and just invite them round of a drink. As long as you don't go silly with the amount you drink, then your first time being drunk/tipsy will be fine. Niece. Cant because sister will abuse everyone and ruin the night. I agree with Ouchy, that's definitely the best way to do it. Drinking with the boys at home I find alot more fun than at a party, or at the pub. You could try and arrange it at another mates place, same principle will apply. Still just as much fun.
