And on that Ram-to-OS-related-note, a short way up................... Dunno if you're joking, but I doubt we'll be seeing more than 8GB-16GB of ram for a while. Even further, Nadril, I have to wonder who would need more than 8GB of RAM for anything, short of a Second Life or W.o.W. World, or a royally monstrous business database. I think we can both agree that even that much ram might never be necessary, especially if they are doing it properly with lightweight-but-feature-packed code. Also, I would hope that MicroSoft finally did something right with Windows 7, beyond what has been linked to in the above articles in this thread, causing less of a need for extra RAM. Sure, the MinWin (I think I named that right?) Kernel at 40MB is a start on shrinking things, but what gets stacked on is (in my opinion) probably the thing that will make-or-break the OS, and any chance of MicroSoft repairing their (currently horrid, to my knowledge, as well as -- again -- in my personal opinion) reputation. :-k As for that thing about 16TB, I also think it is very much a joke... I wouldn't expect to see that for another 20 years, by which time I'll be having my mid-life (age 45) crisis... LOL  ~D. V. "We should never need that much!" ohh good job peter what do you mean by tempory though? I think he means it as he says... Which means that he will eventually manage to re-unify it with the original images directory at some point, although that may take Silverion's help. :geek: BTW, I just checked the Inbox front page... There is still a problem. Friend/Foe/Reply colored markers are still not displaying next to message subject lines. (BTW, using both FF 1.5 and 2.0 here, and unable to check with other browsers due to a short-minded system admin.) But, as you said, the PM icons and color coding have been repaired. Call me mad, but it might be an idea to just leave the temporary directory that way, simply to make it easier to manage those functions. And possibly bring whatever you need to fix the item that I'm still seeing to there. ~D. V. "Mostly done, 1 to go... Thank you, for what you have done so far!" Devnull

The Jagex mods are aware now \ You stole my idea and get credit   Nice to see it might get implented. I'm glad to see it might happen, too. BTW, I wonder if BloodArgon pointed Jagex to this thread? :-s ~D. V. "Another idea in the works... Cool." Devnull

I would very much encourage that... If you know the problem is not with your Home LAN, then this is the next best thing to do! The problem might just be on their end... LOL! Just one thing that I recommend, when you do, is to make sure they do not give you the 'run-around' in trying to get help. (I've had bad luck with a mere few ISPs, so that is why I'm mentioning it... I hope your ISP is not like that, but I don't know.) If you have to, take it all the way to their network techs who are in the control room. :geek: And good luck getting the problem fixed, if it is possible to do so. 8-) ~D. V. I'll support this... There has to be some way to apply it, right? :-s ~D. V. Devnull

I was thinking that. "Zombie mod" is in practically every FPS. Halo, Half life, CS, etc. Aim for the head? I fail to see how to aim for the head with this right click menu "Attack Blood Argon (level: 121)" Maybe that's the point here? Not being able to just "Head Shot" the zombies, and therefore having to work as part of a team? :-s I could see some possibility in this as a minigame, if not a whole world of its' own. So I will SUPPORT this idea. ~D. V. "Mmm... Zombies." Devnull

No that sounds about right. Actually, it seems I happen to be dead-on as to the era... Stronger systems had arrived by 1993, which places the "32 KB RAM with 50 MB HD" specs well before that. Have a look at the following... http://ltelite.cybtonic.com/introduction.htm ...as well as several links trailing off of it... Such as an article from Bnet, which you'll find about two links away. :geek: <*DVD stares behind his self at a "Compaq LTE Lite 4/33C" from the era, remembering the days when he used to play ID Software's "DOOM" demo on it, then smiles fiendishly... For him, those were the days. ...*> We can only hope, Killerred005... LOL! ~D. V. "Old stuff... What sweet memories..." Devnull

TBH, I would hope they add both. Those look like they'd be helpful rendering examples, allowing users to get a better idea of what happened at Halloween 2008. That, and they make great historical examples. ~D. V. "Nice H'ween 2K8 caps!" Devnull

More like 32kb RAM with 50 mb hard drive for a high end computer. My dad and his friend were always amazed how much stuff could fit into a 1gb hard drive if they came up with one for PC, and that was back in like 1993. "Imagine how many programs and text files you could fit into that thing!" You sure what you're speaking of wasn't more like circa 1986??? :? ... I'm sure that stronger PCs had arrived by 1993, otherwise ID Software's "DOOM" would have been a pain to play. :-k ~D. V. "Temporal Confusion..." Devnull

Interestingly enough, Windows 7 will make use of the windows micro kernel, just 40 megabytes in size. A nice improvement from the what, 1 gigabiclycle or more? That's still large, compared to kernel sizes back in 1990... All ya needed was 32 MB of RAM (at maximum) back then, to which only about a few hundred KB were in use with the system at idle. And heck, you only needed about 1 GB of disk space for everything, only about 18 MB (*gasp*) of which was needed for ALL of the core files and utility programs! And knowing all of that continues to make "Windows 7" look like a large rat... Sure, it is an improvement, but it ain't THAT much... LOL!!! ~D. V. N_odie, where are the links for the female versions of the rewards??? :? (While I may not be female, I do try to give a care about them.) ===================== UPDATE: I went crazy with the Advanced Search Feature on the Items DB... Here is a link to the rewards for females for the Halloween 2008 event. This Is The Link... BTW, check out the search terms. I think I got it right. Wow... Could have gone all day without that kind of language. :-# BTW, I'm not trying to be all dogmatic, like as if it were a "be all, end all"... What I'm trying to point out, however, is that if their setup were correct, then NOD32 should find whatever malware is present. That's all I'm trying to point out and make clear note of. :geek: Thanks for jumping way off the deep end over something that was just a bit stunning to my eyes, SilverSword. I'm really not as bad/awful/wacko as you may think I am, and I never will be... ~D. V. "I'm not your enemy. Quit thinking I am." Devnull -
I have four questions, just to start with... But, we'll have to wait for the release of "Windows 7" to know what the answers are... Anyway, here are the questions: [*:2qptsrzw]Will we need a hyper-beefy graphics card? [*:2qptsrzw]Will we be able to use some old-style (Win9x/WinXP) functions if we so choose? [*:2qptsrzw]In regard to #2, will we be able to mix-and-match as we see fit? [*:2qptsrzw]Also in regard to #2 & #3, will we be able to configure our Task Tray to use the older modes in combo with the newer ones as well? And here's to looking forward to a stack of answers from MicroSoft... Which, BTW, they have not really held to their company name and what it implies, have they? A company name like theirs, I would think, would refer to "small, feature-packed, nice software"... Not a pack of bloated elephants. :P ~D. V. "One new OS, one new stack of crazy questions... (Pardon my offside comment here... but that image really stuns me. :o ...) Whoa... If that online thing says that their copy of NOD32 didn't find anything, but we know that something is there due to at least 3 other scanners, then I'm reasonably sure that site does not have their NOD32 setup and configured correctly. Especially since I've seen NOD32 stop new viruses before my eyes. This would tend to make me trust that online scanner much less. :( (BTW, as for that "uzcpgs[Caution: ExecutableFile]" thing, I think Clare will be the one who knows what's up.) ~D. V. "I think that online scanner isn't setup right." Devnull -
Honest answer? If you're not careful, then yes, you can possibly kill your PC... I recommend (only if you're too uneasy about handling it yourself) that you take the PC and RAM to a computer technician's shop, and they can probably have you all handled within about 15 minutes flat. That is, if they don't give you the runaround, which is why I'd get up some serious guts and stability of mind instead, if I were you... :| ~D. V. "Be careful, but don't get had..." Devnull

Better yet, just have it seperately display both the 'P2P CB Level', and the 'F2P CB Level' next to each other. It can be left to people do the mental math of the difference, if they wish to worry about that. ;) As for integration into the current system, I'll leave that up to Tip.It's Staff to take a guess at. I don't think I have enough of an idea to hazard a guess this time. :? However, I'd say you have a good idea there, jimmyw3000... : ~D. V. "Nice Idea." Devnull -

Gehackte, nice siggy images. As for this... Hard to do when I know that double-posting isn't allowed and I have to wait for other people before I can increment the count. ;) ....... BTW, in case anyone gives a [bleep]-darn, I had a nasty headache (and drowsiness episode) yesterday, which caused me to slow down my posting. :( TBH, if you're trying to help this count move fast, that's a bad thing, because it means you can't help count as often. :| <*DVD hands run4runes a bag of cookies, in hope that run4runes will get more comp time available in the next few weeks.*> And, BTW, didn't anyone notice my overly blatant mention of ranting like a 'mad man'?!?!?!?!? 11,338 ~Mr. "Looks like we're all having count lag..."
