Dan, I'm bypassing all the other posts in the thread to tell you this. You should stay quiet and report under all applicable rules. The more reports that Jagex has about a given rule-breaker, the better. So if they are breaking R6, R7, and R1 nail them for all 3. Then if you wish to warn them after to stop, do so. This will give Jagex the level of evidence needed for an insta-ban against the rule-breaker, without chance of appeal success for that rule-breaker. Fair warning, however, never talk to R11/R12 violators. You'll give yourself away to the bot nets and such, and you'll never be able to catch any of them again after. (I know because of experience with helping the "Ad Busters" channel and their network that is trying to kill R11/R12 violators, and the things I've heard. You might wish to come join us and help, we can teach you more.) Good luck to you, and I hope to see you in the 'Ad Busters' channel in the future, helping with the fight. ~Mr. D. V. Erm... actually, it is as strict as it should be. RUNESCAPE IS NOT A DATING SERVICE OR A SWEARBOX!!! ~Mr. Devnull

Will future bots be almost impossible to detect?

There are auto responders, how effective they are depends on the time put into it. When I used to macro, I made a very nice auto responder. I kept logs of everything that happened, and there were entire conversations between my macros and players that thought they were talking to real people. I have an idea for you then, Iamdan... How about you send those logs in to Jagex, with commentaries from you as well as videos and source code and such, and help Jagex with defeating the Autoers/Macroers/RWT'ers? Maybe you can get a job with Jagex after facing a little jail time to pay for your sins too, and really have fun with code and programming, and fight on the right side of the war for a change! ~Mr. Devnull -
Weird Message Comes Up...Is it the End?
D. V. Devnull replied to a topic in Forum Updates and Suggestions
That goes under the header of "no can do"... why? Because I use a PC that several other family members have access to. Do I want them getting near an active login cookie or infecting this PC in a manner (which is 99.999999% impossible, I'll admit no defense is ever completely perfect) where my Tip.It account would become compromised? NO FREAKING WAY. So yeah, I have to log out when I'm done somewhere, and I have no choice in the matter. Am I a security-conscious freak? Probably, but for good reason. Anywho, I don't think anyone would want to suddenly see my ID on these forums posting forbidden & illegal stuff anyway. Obviously, I won't do that, but if the wrong hands get to my cookies, I'm [bleep]ed. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
I'm correct in assuming then that you didn't change the English language file? :-s (Just curious!) ~Mr. Devnull

I support. Having something like this is seriously needed after all this time. (... x4 ...) I've been accidentally stuck under at least 2 or 3 monsters at a time in a room, and they're all being shot which causes my own thing to be not viewable, so I seriously know what it is like. And having an option to disengage it would help too for those times when it isn't really needed. ~Mr. Devnull

Disable your in-account HTML setting & make sure that Javascript really is properly on and working in your browser. It really sounds much to me like something is not configured right on your end, because from what I understand, Albosky does quite a good job making sure a feature works before releasing it, just in case of this kind of [bleep]-ery. I really can't believe that it isn't working right for you, unless Albosky really blew it on the German language file. :? (Note to self: Don't reply to threads that make you bang your head off a wall in the future. Too much headache. :wall: ...) ~Mr. Devnull

Weird Message Comes Up...Is it the End?

Wait... there's a long limit after I log in before I can log out? What if I only have a few minutes to spare? <*freaks out*> :uhh: Aww man!!! :ohnoes: ~Mr. Devnull -
More F2P Bank Space! [BANKSPACE ACHIEVED!]
D. V. Devnull replied to Prankster_King's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Yeah, between the two, if they both happened, F2P would be set for years on end. Literally. 8-) ~Mr. Devnull -
Off-Topic: Please, no more of that [bleep]. It really is not nice to keep 'harping on' the issue. Especially since when I log in, I usually have about a stack of 30 to 40 threads to catch up on, and usually don't find myself replying to more than about 10 of them maximum on a given session. ~Mr. Devnull

Looks like this person thought of it before me, and their numbers look fine, so I'll support it. :) ... About the only thing I could have asked for is that the 2-hand range bow had shortbow-type speeds in their specs. Dealing out damage fast enough is a staple of point-blank range combat, and I have this feeling Jagex would forget the ranging walls or something. I'm reasonably sure, however, that hbk_hossack can cover that. BTW, I happen to also like the idea, which PrOfEsIoNaL made note of, to have the ring teleport to 3 major RS locations. Not having an F2P teleport to Draynor is too much of a pain on innocent and hard-working F2P players. ~Mr. Devnull

When will that happen? When pigs fly? I believe Albosky said when it goes gold. But phpBB 3 probably won't go gold until pigs fly. LOL  ... Just give it 6 months. They'll probably be stable by then. :P BTW, it appears that http://forums.xkcd.com/ has already upgraded to phpBB3. (Note: I don't actually use their forum, it is just that I noticed they upgraded already! Just giving an example!) ~Mr. Devnull

More F2P Bank Space! [BANKSPACE ACHIEVED!]
D. V. Devnull replied to Prankster_King's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Not into bankspace anymore? :? Having Random Event items stored into one space would save a lot of bank space which would leave it open for everything else. And what about certain quest-related items that can't be made again, like The Knight's Sword, which you have to be careful to have a chance of making duplicates during the quest? Or the key from Draynor Manor? Or what about the Ghostspeak Ammy after you've done the quest in F2P? BTW, I like having that sword for certain special events. :? *sigh* -.- ... We really need more F2P bank space, big time. ~Mr. Devnull -
Addition to Mining Guild - 60+ Support [Pics Added]
D. V. Devnull replied to NJE03's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Are you nuts? I like having the rocks out there for many reasons! It also allows dedicated p2p and f2p miners to get away from some of the more ugly chat-filled zones. And there are enough training spots already! Off-topic: I could - though I would rather not. What, no interesting quips? No "Hey, is there anyone else?"-type of bumps? Come on, man! ~Mr. Devnull -
Increase runescape resolution (make it look bigger)
D. V. Devnull replied to Spoiboy's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Not for those with a limit of 800x600 resolution on their physical screen. On the other hand, there are those with monstrous 1600x1200, who need the rs applet to render larger. BTW, thanks for updating your resolutions list. I like it. :) ~Mr. Devnull -
Apparently you've never heard of cook-x, fletch-x, etc etc etc etc. <<<Quote Snip...>>> chris1216, well said. I'm gonna '+1' because I agree completely. BTW, I saw your post and fell backwards laughing, because the execution was perfect. Nice. ~Mr. Devnull

F2p Mage Proposal *Read it now!* 105 supporters!!!!
D. V. Devnull replied to Komodoman360's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
The problem with this is people who like the Black ones better and would therefore want them to be equal to the Blue ones. This isn't really that great of an idea, I'm sorry to say. If that's the case then change it the other way round. Full blue requires 1 defence to wear and Full black requires 40 defence with high defence added. This just causes the problem to change direction, since they can't make both robes have both requirements. You took the words right out of my mouth, unkn0wnwarrior. Well said, and +1, I agree. ~Mr. Devnull -
More F2P Bank Space! [BANKSPACE ACHIEVED!]
D. V. Devnull replied to Prankster_King's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Maybe it can become a hidden update along with a new skill or something. This is also possible. They'd need to make this kind of update public. Just suddenly having extra spaces there would make some people think that the game is broken. :ohnoes: ~Mr. Devnull -
Wilderness Capes for F2P. | 35+ Supporters!
D. V. Devnull replied to The Observer's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
That would be a mess, but at least having the option of these capes will help, because it will make it darn hard (if there are enough options) to match the opponent team's capes, which would help to stop this "cloaked clan confusion" mess I keep hearing about. ~Mr. Devnull -
Off-topic: That is not a windows problem. That is a user stupidity problem. It is NOT Microsoft's fault the user left Automatic Updates on and happened to be playing WoW when the time to update showed up. It is a well known fact that AU downloads, installs, and reboots without notice. Using AU updates on it's own isn't the smartest of things to do for exactly those reasons. That is exactly what it's suppose to do. Stop trying to flame MS software for doing exactly what it is suppose to being doing. The stuff you cite (by proxy, source it next time) is easily fixed by actually taking a bit of time to review the updates being installed and by doing it yourself. Once again, you've proven you use your opinion sprinkled with a few weak supporting stories to try and make your point, and failed once again. I guess you haven't heard of updates that don't listen to a user's disable on Automatic Updates? And the fact that MicroSoft hides these things and doesn't tell you? And then to finish it off, that in all honesty, there are people at MicroSoft that think a home user is too stupid to handle system updates on their own? Or the fact that in the latest MicroSoft EULAs, MicroSoft stipulates that they can shove software and updates at you as they see fit? I've also heard that Norton is dependent on MicroSoft's Automatic Updates being enabled, as of their latest versions, and will flip it on in the event that it finds it off. I don't think Nicrune008 is running one of those, so I've ruled it out. The DOJ needs to take MicroSoft back to court and take them down, once and for all. Otherwise, this [bleep] will never end. Anywho, let's get back to the topic at hand, and stop with the evil arguing, to which I'm replying below...: =================================== ON-TOPIC: Nicrune008, before I even get close to suggesting a total rebuild, which would mean backing up all the personal data (e-mails/music/documents/downloads/you-name-it) that you have, I just noticed something. I don't remember seeing a "HiJackThis" log in this thread. Now sadly, I'm not one of the best with them, but maybe if you post one, someone who knows how to handle it can come through and tell you anything they know in regard to the info provided by it. Maybe they can see something I haven't possibly thought of. I'll be back in the near future to check on this thread again. Hopefully we can still nail the problem, but I have to admit, chances of defeating it still seem slim-to-zero to me. :-k ~Mr. Devnull

Split the General Discussion board
D. V. Devnull replied to Adam007's topic in Forum Updates and Suggestions
The only reason for the (excessive) speculation threads is the BTS. But without the speculation, what would we be posting on? That is the only newsworthy update in the past 2 weeks or so. I don't know about that. Not after seeing the release of the "Assist System" and the news on it. I've actually got buddies on RuneScape that are hitting the 30K exp/day max. :P (Off-Topic: Anyone know what happened in the System Update on RuneScape earlier today? :-s ...) ~Mr. Devnull -
Well, at least since you're using Win98SE, you don't need so much RAM for the main OS or much anything else, but the hard disk size is going to get you (You could use something a little larger, like 20 GB)... That and the video card (32 MB FTW?) and possibly a potential need for a slightly quicker CPU (Like 500 MHz) ........... But other than that, you're definitely fine. :) On the other hand (and to get back on-topic), I still have yet to hear what RazorAce's OS and ISP are... :-k ...once I know, I'll be able to go to the right spot in my brain. <*Walks out, dizzy and overloaded... He'll be back later, looking for RazorAce's reply.*> ~Mr. Devnull Lol, There's no way I'm going to upgrade this thing. It's about to die as it is...Windows is taking up so much stuff, I'm just booting off of the DS Linux Live CD anymore. In fact..I take that back. I'm seriously considering formatting this hard drive and installing Linux. If you are upgradng it, it may be worth just buying an old machine off Ebay or something, and pinching it's RAM and Hard drive. [/hide] Nah. I'll probably end up just formatting, buying a 20 GB Hard Drive and then installing Linux on that. 4GB just isnt cutting it. Even better, stick the 20 GB drive in, copy the 4 GB drive's data to proper matching partitions on the 20 GB, set up a dual-boot with Linux and Win98SE on it, and then wipe the 4GB drive and use it for backup caching or pictures or music or something like that. This way, you still have Win98SE if you need it for any reason (category of "it just won't work on Linux for some really good reason or really evil reason"...) instead of being like "Oh [bleep], I don't have it and I need it!"... :) Any which way you go, good luck. :) ~Mr. Devnull
