  1. Actually, it is a big help. Now I see exactly what's going on. Some idiot blew it on maintaining the servers that keep your net link going. Call your ISP, and have the tracert info handy. They should be able to clean up your net link, if they're not incompetent. :) Make sure you also keep tracert info handy, without the -d switch, for RuneScape.com also, so you can have that fixed too. :) Good luck on finishing off that problem. 8-) ~Mr. D. 2. @ Cruiser ...: jsboutin2 already said they are running FireFox with the thread title. Just thought I'd point that out. :) I've noticed even without the banner, due to my parents' house policy regarding advertisements, that focus can still pop away. I don't know what causes it, but unless you jump to FF 2.0 or later, you're [bleep]ed for trying to fix this problem. Go to your address bar and tap in without the quotes "about:config"... it is the ONLY way to change this setting, as Cruiser said. But, fair warning, it only works in FF 2.0 or later! Hope this info helps. 8-) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  3. Thank you, Tip.It Admins and Mods for fixing the normal posting system before I ran into it. (I probably would have generated a pile of flaming dung by accident? [LOL  ...] ...) Anywho, good luck on getting the search fixed. :) ....... I'm gonna miss that "View Your Posts" function until then. :( ... You know, the one with the 'search_id' of "egosearch"... I loved being able to track discussions that I was already talking in. ...But alas, it's gone now. <*sighs and tries to walk through the mud of text some more in an attempt to find where he was discussing stuff*> ~Mr. Devnull
  4. Gee, Exp_All, if I were you, I would whip out your account again for its' original operations, and get back to them, if and when the black marks expire. Get in touch with old friends and whatnot from there. And make up lost time for all those nice exp goal lines. : ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  5. Rosco, re-run the tracerts, but without the "-d"... I might be able to tell you what network is fouling up, because it definitely looks to me like some router out there just doesn't like you, or some black-hat-hacker is fouling with the net, and the ISP may need to re-route their traffic around it. I found the IPs are pointless without the DNS names, BTW...... ~Mr. Devnull
  6. Eh... that makes a ban sound like it is only temporary? :-s ~Mr. Devnull
  7. gahh, it sounds to me like you've hit a problem that someone I know hit with someone else's router... Frequency matching problems. I hate to say it, but it sounds like you need a different wireless receiver unit to patch in the laptop to the router. Other than that, you're out of luck, unless you have a lan hardwire port on the laptop........ sorry. :| ~Mr. Devnull
  8. I've discovered the hard way that rc-ing for f2p falls short. How? Lack of Chaos when altar entry is in F2P. Please, don't reply until you get why, I don't need the headaches. ~Mr. Devnull (100% F2P, Non-Pure and Full-Omni FTW...)
  9. Please clarify? You confuse me. :? ~Mr. Devnull
  10. Tip: If you're running FF 2.0 or later, disable your normal 'backspace' functionality. It should clear up the dumb kick-outs. ~Mr. Devnull
  11. Dude... NOD32 has saved the computer I am on from entirely new viruses. Viruses that I wonder if Norton (or anything else) EVER noticed. I'm NOT an advertisement. I'm a living testimonial. Major difference there. :? ~Mr. Devnull
  12. *PooF!* A pebble with the name JaGeX pops out of the ditch.. "Mist?! Blood?! Both of those are too dark for runescape. We must protect the 13 year olds that play this game!" *PooF!* The pebble has disappeared. Erm, sorry, but that kind of thing falls apart here. Jagex does not want to be the next MiniClip, and they also have blood splats on the ground in wildi.......... oh, and this game is supposed to be medieval-based by nature, so it is supposed to have dark stuff like that! <*Vents steam and runs Taco through the cheese-grater*> ~Mr. Devnull
  13. Eh, wait... you're trying to run Norton and NOD32 at the same time? ... I don't mean this in a rude tone, but apparently you didn't catch what I said about NOD32 clearly enough, so I need to spell this out well...: Norton can not be running while NOD32 is. THEY WILL CONFLICT!!!!! Put simply, block Norton from starting up at all temporarily, and fully unleash NOD32 against any threats to your PC. NOD32 will not fail to catch any threats if they exist. : ... Just one tip, don't let NOD32 disturb Norton's quarantine folders while Norton is down. Other than that, everything should run well. Good luck, and let me know what happens. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  14. <*chokes suddenly*> ... McAfee?!?!? That's like having a keg of government-made backdoors into your PC!!! So you know, NOD32 can also have its' auto-update temporarily disabled, but thankfully, NOT ever by a virus, unlike McAfee's. I have actually had the fate of facing computers running McAfee, and in worst-case situations, SeniorCitizenKane. Sad to say, it took removing McAfee and changing antivirus programs to get rid of the virus on the PCs that I was faced with. Norton is better than McAfee, but by far, NOD32 kicks the [bleep] out of both of those. Please, before you are hit by something, make it a point to use NOD32. ~Mr. Devnull
  15. It used to be the other way before, where attack was option 1 on higher-level-than-player monsters and humans, and then Jagex switched it. I have been upset at the change since, but have gotten used to it, so if it doesn't go through to add some kind of option control, I won't be too mad. ~Mr. Devnull
  16. Why not "Shift+click" to walk move and "Ctrl+shift+click" to attack? And change "Ctrl+click" to run move (instead of run and do default action)? It would make the game so much better to have it like I am thinking. ~Mr. Devnull
  17. No, it ain't. But live events like with what Matrix Online used to have would be kind of nice. ~Mr. Devnull
  18. Best AntiVirus Option? NOD32 RAM Usage Limits under normal conditions? 50 MB CPU Usage Limits under normal conditions? 3% of CPU The only time this AntiVirus uses a whole CPU is when your system is under attack, you're scanning for viruses, or it is updating itself. And of note, it has better virus catching capabilities than Norton, McAfee, AVG, and whatever other one you try to compare against it. In my own install-time usage and live usage, I saw it find 200 viruses that Norton MISSED in my dad's mail quarantine, and it has quarantined 2 totally new viruses that tried to hit me during innocent web searches, viruses that I can be sure that Norton would have missed. Now if you really want to know something that knocks the socks off any other, NOD32 packs that viral data up for transfer to Eset, and has totally new definitions ready to go for the world WITHIN 3 HOURS of learning of a threat. Oh, and I haven't even mentioned this yet, but NOD32 has the lowest costs in licensing and renewal for updates, and provides better definition and scanning quality than Norton (and all the others, from my experiences)... Time for a full system scan? 28 minutes @ 305K files, faster than any other antivirus out there. Good luck on getting that PC built. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  19. If you're running WinXP, there is a ".wma" or two buried deep in the 'system32' folder. I don't mean to be rude, but for now, I'll leave you to find them, seeing as I can't remember the location right now, even though I have dug the file up at least 10 times. Might help you to get a handle on it that way. :P [Edit after slapping self: Here is the path to where a '.wma' file is under WinXP... "C:\WINDOWS\system32\oobe\images" ... Look for "title.wma" there.] ~Mr. Devnull
  20. I hate to say it, but it sounds to me like MusicMatch Jukebox borked itself suddenly. I don't intend any rudeness, but I suggest you get yourself a more respectable music player. ... MusicMatch has never had that good a reputation behind it. (WinAmp 2.9x FTW here! ...) ~Mr. Devnull
  21. Hey, it's me again, ready to rock and here to help. I just looked this thread up and down, and I'm reasonably sure that if your PCs are all clean of any malware/viruses that the problem IS NOT within your home network. It is somewhere on the way to the ISP, or within one of the first 2 hops afterward. So if you've virus-scanned and see no viruses, run some "tracert <site>" commands, where <site> is the name of the domain of the page you are trying to go to. Check the ping times carefully. Anything jumping high like 'a cat flying up off the opposite end of a seesaw after an anvil's been dropped on your end' (Yes, slapstick humor  ... I love it. ...) automatically means the fault IS NOT within your home net. Once you've narrowed that down, you'll know what to do pretty quick. Here is to praying this info helps. ~Mr. Devnull
  22. I'm just making some quick notes of my own status on this, in an answer-styled format alongside Jax's notes, which should get the point across to those who aren't getting it... and BTW, I've already trimmed down as far as I can, and am short items that I need at this time. In my case, being that I train all F2P stuff, going without lesser essentials leaves me without what I need to do the training. Literally, those items are still essential, and therefore, can't be done without. Every time I don't have them, it stops what I'm doing instantly, and sometimes I get stuck with locked spaces for weeks. I don't even have room for melee armor I need right now, so my range and mage are not getting the training they need. Total locked spaces? About half of my 60-space F2P bank. Anyone thinking that is too much is right, however, they are wrong about it being all non-essential items. Each item taking up those 30 spaces is fully essential. This kind of problem just recently cost me full F2P random event clothes. Estimated time to a new full layout? UNKNOWN. I wish Thessalia had a "random event clothes bank" of some kind to handle this problem. It would allow those who had earned the clothes to have them stored for later. Time for me to go do what I can do. I still need 12 more bank slots. And now I am realizing I need a "Random Event Clothes Bank" right along with it. ~Mr. Devnull
  23. Well, the function of the Ditch would still exist, sadly. That's kinda the whole reason it's there. So even with a new look, it'll still work the way it does now... Dude, what I am saying is that I want something equivalent to the ditch to exist, but, I want it to be something like a mist wall that you can only run through if you've dismissed the warning or turned it off entirely. In short, ditch ... without the ditch. That way, those who need to hit into wildi at a dead run can, and those who want or need the warning for a little while can have that too. Also in short, trying to walk into or past the mist wall would result in the warning. So yeah, it would be "Ditch V2.0", but without having to wait for a lame time-costing animation, and would allow some restoration of certain wildi parameters, and would not cost the poisoned so badly like the current one does. (I really think it isn't nice that they got one in the foot like the rc'ers did.) Having the current "Ditch V1.xx" just does not work. ~Mr. Devnull
  24. Wrong thread for that kind of super-powerful item. I suggest you make one for it, as that kind of thing would end up being P2P. This is a thread for balancing out F2P combat triangle by boosting higher-leveled mages. Which, unbeknownst to a lot of 'Elitist P2P'ers, would only help them. ~Mr. Devnull
  25. We'd never have guessed.... :wall: "Freudensprung" = "Walk here" ??? :-s ... (I don't know much of anything about German, please don't kill me. I'm just guessing in an attempt to learn!) ~Mr. Devnull
