Karil's + Mage prayer + good defense really counters that. Either way, a meleer can just switch to range, and that's GF. mage can protect from prayer and switch to range/melee this argument like this is just going to go around and around. And has anyone thought about the F2P'er Mages who can't teleblock and whose binds last about 1 or 2 seconds? Or are you all totally ignorant of stuff like P2P clanners with F2P members in the clan, or just honest teams of friends or solo mages? Are you all that dense? Pardon me, but I think I have a headache now from people being ignorant of a perfectly good point I've brought up already. -.- <*exits the thread until his next check, punching a wall on the way out*> ~Mr. D. -.- press "add ignore "______" " its really not that hard +1 to your note, Rustoid523. I agree. :) ~Mr. Devnull

Hey, at least it helps with better discussion of the thread now. :) ~Mr. Devnull

you have got to be kidding me... +1 to your note, Jaziek. Inserting RAM with a running PC would be mind-numbingly insane. -.- ~Mr. Devnull

steathpure, the best place I have found for a CB Level 70+ who uses multiple combat modes is the Stronghold of Security's 4th Level, The Sepulchre of Death. Just after you enter the floor, go to the room that is directly on the opposite side of the ladder from the spot where you appear. It will contain Level 75 Ankous. Melee them until they go non-aggressive, then switch to mage or range and use the semi-safespots to just blast the hell out of them. You'll see the safespots semi-obviously on your own. Enjoy! ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

id like to know how magic would be done for if it did not get an update. yes, f2p magic sucks. You should see Average Mages battling in F2P Wildi. I'm one of them, and I end up having to run away every time because Rangers and Warrior Melee'ers are doing too much damage to me too fast to fight with them properly. Proof is in the viewing, jessy87. :( ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Do you play any other multiplayer games? If so, what are your results with them? :-s If not, then so far, I can only assume that your new ISP doesn't like gaming and the kind of connection it requires, which has to have an instant response constantly. :( Heck, I found with an item called "Stick Arena" by XGenStudios that you have to run that on such a link for it to perform reasonably. Heck, try that game and let me know how things turn out. If you have more of the same, then problem solved and you need yet another new ISP. -.- If not, then what browser are you on? IE? FireFox? Opera? Try a different one for a short while with RuneScape, maybe? :? I'll wait for ya answer. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

what internet provider /connection to get?
D. V. Devnull replied to unknownmasterofnothing's topic in Tech and Computers
Um cable internet is usually better for gaming, it's usually faster all around (ping, down and up). For gaming you don't need fast download/upload speeds, it's more about ping time. What you say cable does is true but that can be better than what DSL does as to how far you are away from the central hub is how fast your connection is. What about "Link Token Conflicts"? I thought that only caused problems with gaming? :-s ~Mr. Devnull -
It sounded to me more like they shut down the system long enough to plug it in, then started up and ran into the problem. I could be wrong, however, so I'm waiting for a reply to your question too. :-k (I have to admit, you've made me curious too.) ~Mr. Devnull

But others (like me) just CANNOT type like that so it would actually give those like me a chance and if they wanted to not use it a toggle option can fix that. I have the same problem as NJE03... I'm gonna have to support this idea that Jadchor has made, seeing as otherwise I'd be [bleep]ed for trying to sell stuff, which I currently am right now due to hand stress limits. Typing the same thing hurts too [bleep]ing much after only a couple minutes. BTW, F2P POH Views, and one other that I never stuck in, just lost its' slot on my siggy due to the severity of what this thread would provide. I've marked this one as "Legal RS Chat Repeater", however, because "auto-talker" just doesn't quite mark it right. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

There's a future for mage only if 2 things occur......... 1.) F2P gets an update for it, like this one (click to see). (Combat triangle at high levels is NOT balanced!) 2.) New spells are released (even in F2P, there are major problems no one seems to care to take a look at, so we need them too) to take care of a number of failing points. If that doesn't occur, then mages are done for. :( .......... And please, no flames. ~Mr. Devnull

Hidhaeg, your best bet is to aim for the optimal item you can smith. Afterward, high alch it and keep the high-alch's gp for yourself. Selling is a bad idea 97% of the time with smithing, as I have come to experience much the hard way. ~Mr. Devnull

Sounds like the drive's circuitboard has failed, and is also possibly causing power glitches. :( You might be able to get that drive going again (and your data back) by finding a circuitboard from a matching drive that is still good, but the matching drive's disk has failed. The transplant would be hell, but the rewards would be phenomenal. Good Luck. : ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Since this has gone off-topic, excuse me while I do this... <*Runs Cruiser and Errdoth through a cheese-grater for telling a person to destroy their PC parts*> ...and now pardon me while I exit. (LOL  ... Sorry, can't resist this joke!) ~Mr. Devnull

what internet provider /connection to get?
D. V. Devnull replied to unknownmasterofnothing's topic in Tech and Computers
Maybe they'd still have a better shot of luck on DSL, though? From what I remember and understand, cable puts a whole block of people on one shared pipe, which is no good for gaming. ~Mr. Devnull -
gahh, quick tip: ALL the phones need to have filters attached, but NOT the DSL modem unit. If you have a phone with the DSL, use a splitter at the DSL modem's point, and put a phone with filter on one side, and the router on the other side of the split. And for all the other jacks, just have the filter right out of the wall socket. At no time should there ever be a filter in the DSL modem's line path. That should fix it. And hopefully I haven't been too confusing either. ~Mr. Devnull

How do I Convert protected WMA. music files into MP3?
D. V. Devnull replied to bobdjojo's topic in Tech and Computers
Winamp can convert wma files to mp3. Winamp can not convert protected wma files. Hence why they are protected. Protected means that they have drm in them so they can not be modified and can only be used with one device. For example Itunes drm songs will only play with itunes or the ipod (only songs you buy from the itunes store would have the drm). WinAmp 2.8x series or later should be able to circumvent this due to technology types. Good ol' diskwriter plugin would convert to '.wav', if I don't miss my memory. ~Mr. Devnull -
Addition to Mining Guild - 60+ Support [Pics Added]
D. V. Devnull replied to NJE03's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Slightly off-topic: No interesting quips? No "Hey, is there anyone else or am I blowing air out my mouth for nothing here?"-type of statement or query? Come on, man, you can do a better bump than that! (LOL!!! ... BTW, free bumpage...) ~Mr. Devnull -
1. It worked before but just recently it has started doing it 2. Happens every time so i don't think that will help 3. Firefox, RS Client, MSN 4. Ok i'll try 5. Done, nothing found 6. See 1. Okay, I use IE6/FireFox/WinAmp 2.9x/god-knows-what-else all at once without problems, most of the time anyway. Even though Cruiser and Olgath's combined info is good, you may wish to try one other thing first........ Empty your temporary internet file cache on your Internet Explorer program's options. I can tell you with 100% certainty that RuneScape is running on the IE engine which comes with Windows........... This usually fixes any problems for me, especially since I use IE6 and its' engine for RuneScape. If things start working, then good. If not, then follow the other info. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

But Advert Blocking is against the rules... ~Rcty This is true. If an advertisement is causing you problems, click on the "?" near the advertisement, note down the number it gives you, then follow the steps told to report the particular advertisement to Jagex. Just one serious problem with all of that. Due to the wordings of Jagex's rules and TOS, they've auto-invalidated rule 15 of their own accord. If you're going to force someone to view something, 2 very deadly things apply: 1.) Policy of the location at which the computer is used. (This can not be avoided.) 2.) Federal law of the country in which the user resides. (This can not be avoided.) Due to the above, Jagex can not under any circumstances, even through a TOS, state that they are not liable for 3rd-party advert damages or other types of damage imposed on a person's computer. And sadly, focus-stealing, as well as viruses incoming from the adverts being triggered by the loading scripts of the advert server of RuneScape is immediately in violation of said computer location policy and federal law both. I've said more than I should have to on this matter, Rcty and darkblade986 ... Bug off, and let the true techies talk. BTW, at this point, if any government wanted to come down on Jagex for all the viruses that have been triggered by Jagex's scripts, Jagex's personnel would spend near life sentences in Jail. ~Mr. D. peteypablo and goat, you both have PCs that can not handle advertisements. :( You therefore only have one option. Block "advert.runescape.com"... Sorry, but that is the only permanent fix. :( ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

No wonder then... you've got a PC that can not handle advertisements. :( You therefore only have one option. Block "advert.runescape.com"... Sorry, but that is the only permanent fix. :( ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Any chance you're on FireFox and using the original AdBlock and not the more recent AdBlock Plus? If you are, no wonder. If not, you need to tell us more about your layout. ~Mr. Devnull

I know what can do it, but you won't like to know what it is......... :ohnoes: ... You really won't like it, but here it is: Any time the RuneScape java app is triggered or any heavy Shockwave or Flash applet, it makes the RAM usage go to hell in a handbasket. Fixing this is not possible, sorry. I should personally know this, as I've had the direct experience with it. Only way to force a cleanup that I know of is to shut FireFox totally down and then bring it back up after a 30-second delay. Sorry to be such a disappointment, but I already know there is no super-permanent solution in this matter. -.- ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
