Try plugging in a pair of desktop speakers to the headphone port of your laptop. If you get sound, then your earphones are somehow at fault. If you don't get sound, then the laptop is in need of repair. :( BTW, if you do have to send the laptop in for repairs, make sure to back up all your data. I recommend you do it both with a backup program, and afterward, a verbatim (1:1 ratio, no backup program for this part) copy to something like a "My Book" by Western Digital. After that, leave no trace of your music/files/work/etc. and send it in for repairs. Some people love to snoop around other people's stuff. :? ~Mr. Devnull

Post a full listing of add-ons and other stuff you've loaded into this thread, and what OS and system specs. There's not much anyone can do until then. ~Mr. Devnull

<*suddenly makes his voice echo much like a ghosts, from out of the depths of nowhere and into this thread*> You must be constructive with your bumps, or the anti-bumping monsters will find one of my favorite threads to check on! Please, don't let this thread die! Send Jagex a message, put a note at the top of this thread giving Jagex permission to use the idea! This idea must go through! <*stops making his voice do that ghost thing and pops his head in*> (Free halloween-ish bumper, BTW... Special Alert to any Mods reading this post: Please avoid editing. I'm just discussing with the use of opinions and theories. ================================================ I don't think you have a good grasp of how difficult of a skill mining is. 90 mining is no easy task. It should be easy if they power mine. Yet again it will still take afew days. Mining is probably the most boring skill. It also requies the most concentration. And 90 mining does not take a few days. Even if you are playing 24/7 like Nje said, it would probably take about a week. If 90 mining is so easy, then go and get it. I just checked the stats on PrOfEsIoNaL's RSN, "Carbine Siao"... It only has a laughable mining level that is basically down in my territory. In my opinion, they'd need a macro program to pull off what they speak of within 3 weeks. Since macro programs are illegal (which is one reason I've never gotten near such programs), it will take them more like 6 months to have any chance of touching close, especially even if they tried to 24/7 no-life it. To be honest, they're looking at around 1 year before they'll see 90 mining, if they don't throw away their life. Heck, I decided to go after putting fishing in the lead instead for that reason. BTW, it took about 2.17 years, even with a life that prevents going P2P, for me to get the stats I have right now. So I do have some idea of what I'm speaking of. See ya later, folks... I got a headache. -.- ~Mr. Devnull -

More F2P Bank Space! [BANKSPACE ACHIEVED!]
D. V. Devnull replied to Prankster_King's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
I'll leave you to check out the past 135 pages then. Too many "P2P Elitists" and "Non-understanding F2P Pure-users" are out to hurt this thread as much as they can. Personally, I wish they'd wake up and get a clue. ~Mr. Devnull -
I don't need to visit your link to know a few things. 1.) Your net access is somehow limited. 2.) Something is re-directing a lot of your internet travel. 3.) You're possibly using a Dell, and they aren't at fault for what is going on, likely enough. (You've got that branded Dell Search Page... what a giveaway. If you're not using a Dell, I'd love to know what is putting you there.) 4.) Either your ISP is failing in sending your requests to the right place, or your PC is badly infected with a virus. Any chance your PC is running an antivirus or firewall? Are you keeping clean of spyware/malware? If you have no antivirus or firewall, here are two URLs that are essential to any Windows user: 1.) http://www.eset.com <-- NOD32 AntiVirus by Eset Corporation. (Trial Edition allows you to update definitions for 30 days, proper license required after to continue using update service. It is far more than worth the money to have this working fully. I know because I'm using it.) 2.) http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/catalog/products/sku_list_za.jsp?dc=12bms&ctry=US&lang=en <-- ZoneAlarm FREE Edition. (This is, I have to say, the best firewall out there for an average home user. It will help put an end to unwanted inbound and outbound traffic, as well as teaching you the inner workings of what goes on in your PC. Although, I have to say that the ZoneAlarm Pro Version is better at doing this. I'm using ZoneAlarm Pro.) Now, if you can not reach either of those two URLs, then I can tell you that you are most likely badly infected with a virus. And if you can't reach Eset's NOD32 website, then you're worse than [bleep]-ed. Repairing your PC will be right next to impossible, short of saving anything you don't want to lose onto a thumbdrive or other such data space (preferably a 500GB "My Book" by Western Digital) and formatting and rebuilding your whole PC. BTW, I'm assuming worst case with this post, so I seriously hope you're not looking at worst case scenario. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

More F2P Bank Space! [BANKSPACE ACHIEVED!]
D. V. Devnull replied to Prankster_King's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
You are correct, gandorf61. :) I need both extra bank space and somewhere to store random event clothing too. Just one or the other won't help on its' own. As of recent, I lost all my random event clothes, after completing the F2P collection. Why? Because I needed bank space for my skilling and to protect valuable items I simply can't do without. But it hurt to lose the random clothes, because that has effectively ejected me from a number of future Tip.It Events. (Yes, random event clothes have a use. Social Events, like the ones that TET does.) Yet even then, I found I still didn't have enough space. Nightly now, I am having to leave anywhere from 7 to 10 least valuable items in my main pack and/or equipped to my character, all not safe from a hacker should they ever get my pass. (Which they shouldn't, seeing as I keep this PC secure, but still, I worry. :uhh: ...) In my opinion, this is wrong, seeing as P2P is able to store all their stuff and fully de-equip at night to guard against hackers. Now further, Jagex is teaching about keeping your accounts secure, especially with the Stronghold Of Security, yet they fail to provide proportionally enough bank space to do it with? Shame on Jagex for the failure on their part to provide enough bank space. :shame: Hopefully on the wake of this post, more will see why this needs support to such point that Jagex wakes up and provides proper bank space. Well why would we correct people who want the same thing we do? It's like a debate, you aren't going to go against people on your own side. I guess I can thank JustSleeping, and their idea that a person has to "criticize everything" for why I've posted the reply I have, especially when you're on my side of the primary fence, gandorf61. ~Mr. D. It's the same basic logic (which you seem to lack most of the time). The meat of your reply was "You didn't explain your point well enough so I'm going with the opposite side", which I pointed out with the cliff example. Context has nothing to do with it. You did nothing to explain WHY you chose the opposite side other than basing it off not liking how someone else replied to the idea. Argh, Cruiser, didn't you see what Jemathonical's post code and such looked like? Or the fact that Mercifull did not take into account most general PC users? Go read again, please. I've already explained the "Why I'm taking the other side of this issue"... It was due to anything but dislike. <*Walks off with this confusingly stunned look on his face.*> ~Mr. Devnull -

It would need to be F2P also. Would finally help balance out the F2P/P2P competition, and would finally put an end to all these "It is only in the wildi on F2P" complaints that make me roll my eyes  even though I understand and sympathize. If Jagex, both as its' comprising individuals and as a company both wish to see more money poured into them, they have a lot to fix about F2P before more will pay for P2P. People who see a broken game in F2P are usually repelled from entering P2P. Goes to explain why there's like 9 times the accounts in F2P than in P2P. ~Mr. Devnull -
It's exactly what the errors says. It can't connect to the SMTP server. Looking up what SMTP is will tell you it has to do with email. PhpBB happens to have features that email users when a reply is made to a thread or when other similar events happen. It can't connect to the email server to send said notices, that would be why the error appears. Simple logic answers so many questions. Alright, thanks for the info. :) ... Hmm, I guess I need to read a bit more, seeing as I never use features like that. :-k HEY!!! Wait-a-minute, didn't I ask to NOT get flamed? (Hint: Last line in your post, "Simple logic answers so many questions.") ~Mr. Devnull

Amen And do either of you want to say "Why do you think this idea is a failure?" ... If not, get out of this thread, or I will only consider your posts as spams. Komodoman360 does not need people spamming up his rather thoughtful thread. ~Mr. Devnull -
Hi, Tip.It Forum Admins. I dunno why, but I'm getting this message while trying to post... ...and I'm not even trying to send e-mail. (Can't do that on this forum anyway...) All I'm going to ask is please tell me why this is happening, and please not to flame me while responding. :-s ... I'm reasonably sure it is a bug that needs an "admin-squashing". : (Halloween veggie pun intended.) Thanks in advance for nailing it. ~Mr. Devnull (Note: I've posted this publically so other forum users won't go bonkers, so please don't flame me over that.)

So if I tell you that jumping off a cliff is bad for your health, but do it in a less than 100% comprehensible way, you'd jump off the cliff just because I didn't perfectly state why it's bad? Using logic like that in situations where it counts can get you killed. You're lucky this is only a forum. Your analogy is way off base, Cruiser. No one could get me to jump off a cliff, no matter how hard they tried, even with reverse psychology. You are effectively trying to compare apples (Tip.It Forums with real people and such) to broccoli (Real Offline Forumless Life). At least find something better to compare with, okay? : (And BTW, the "ROFL" pun is intentional. :P ... I'm laughing  at the 'lack of IQ used' in your post. It is like you're 'banging your head off a wall' :wall: or something before you post, which I have to admit, that's mind-numbing.) ~Mr. Devnull -
Yes, you're sounding a bit confused. So I'll try to re-draw my words in verbal steps. 1.) Plug splitter into wall socket. No filters used at this point. 2.) Plug phone line, with filter attached, into one side of splitter. 3.) Plug DSL line into other side of splitter, without a filter. 4.) Go around the rest of the house, and where you have a phone located by a wall jack, apply a filter to that phone also. 5.) You should be done at this point. Phone should have filters, DSL should not. Hope that helps. ~Mr. Devnull

All I can say to that? ROTFLMDFLYCAO   :? :P  :XD: Thanks for pointing out the humor in my thoughts. :) Still, though, I feel nudged in the direction I do because with how the points are presented, Jem's and Mercifull's attempts to shoot it down have an inverse effect by their overall aspects and nature. Just examine it, you will get what I mean. ~Mr. Devnull -
Okay, grimmm125, I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner, but I was hoping you'd respond to your own thread so I would not end up hitting my sentbox limit again. Anywho, having seen the following PM which you sent to me, and I need to make public due to the thread's discussion... ... along with your second post in this thread, and JoeDaStudd's reply to your post, here are my thoughts.......... JoeDaStudd's note of getting more RAM is a VERY good idea. Make sure you do this, grimmm125. Also let us know in this thread what your results are with SpyBot S&D, which he also recommended. Only get XP SP2 if you DON'T have apps that won't work with it. (Microsoft was a bit of a [bleep]er with SP2's design.) Also, finally, if you're going to try AVG Free and scan with it, you have to disable CoMoDo AntiVirus from running while AVG is active, and vice versa. Period. No Exceptions. Just make sure that AVG does not touch CoMoDo AntiVirus's quarantine hold. Nightmares would ensue otherwise. (Personally, I'd recommend the top-of-the-line NOD32 for this, even though the same rules would apply, but oh well.) BTW, if nothing else works, call your ISP and verbally rip their heads off. Personally, however, I would make this the first step, as it might be all you need. It STILL sounds to me like they're 'bork-bork-borking' RuneScape, which I really have a distaste for. On the side: Assassin_696, thank you for merging the threads and correcting a severe problem. This helped a lot in helping grimmm125 with their computer. :D ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Sorry but no. That will never happen. Range > Mage > Melee > Range > ect.. Magic will never be the ultimate fighting force on its own, as no combat type should be. You need to hybrid in the wild to be effective. Carring just 1 combat type with you, shoudnt win a fight. But most often this boils down to the long discussion of farcasting, which is why people say magic is underpowered. Basically: Magic's strength comes in its holding spells. If you dont use holding spells to hit your opponent from a distance, your not using magic as its intended to be used. If you hybrid melee/mage with robes on, its going to be like wearing rune while ranging against a mage. Its just illogical. You need to understand your defensive bonus, not just your offensive bonus in combat. good point but tbh holding spells are pretty useless in edgeville cos if you hold someone they will flame you so much it will melt  anyways the drain prayer thing, smite + spell or sara strike? heres some more PROPER HEALING <---- not lame lunar buffs!! yes we can drain peoples stats but we cant enhance them can we infact i think combat as a whole needs a total reformation (lol thats why i made a topic about it :D ) And something to hit you all with............ What about F2P's inability to easily get Nature Runes at rapid rates? This basically shuts down the ability to use Bind Spells as just a mage alone, and can shut down the option for some rangers also. :( BTW, jondea0, please AVOID ripping up the quote set as badly as you did. Thanks in advance. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Depends on your own speed, and the system setting speed. All are different. 'Overall, deal with it. Other uses have.' If you mean other users, I don't know why since I've already stated I'm not coming from my own views, but trying to guess at other user's views. Mercifull also forgot, due to the fact that some users play games that require avoiding changing that scroll setting, there are people who can not change it, period. Also, there are users who just don't know how to change it, and would find it upsetting to do so anyway. (Microsoft-ian 3-line-scroll setting FTL. -.- ...) Jem, that was just awful and annoying to post something like that. I opened the thing thinking there was some kind of quote set in here, and all you did was, TBH, effectively spam. Now I really do think that having an option to jump on the index would be a good idea in someone's profile. Nice shot, Jem, you and Mercifull can thank yourselves for pushing me in this direction. :boohoo: ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -

O.o most autoers seen at a spot for me <*screams :o ...*> HOLY STUFFING!!! SOMEONE SUMMON A JMOD, FAST!!! <*stops screaming*> That, to be honest, is THE most autoers/macroers that I have ever seen. I guess RuneScape is forever doomed, at least until they add new non-wildi special zones where players can fight at random, without so much as a duel request. :( ... Would have to be some kind of special area for anyone from levels 3 to 126. (And yes, I know that idea is extreme, but I can't think of much else.) ~Mr. Devnull
