were is the best f2p training spot for prayer
D. V. Devnull replied to bestmo10's topic in Help and Advice
Yomyth105, have you checked the Official RS World Map recently? If not, you've missed a lot. And I mean A LOT. The "Bone Yard" Location is DNEA (Does Not Exist Anymore)... I've tried hunting for it, but to no avail. Everyone is stuck with the Chaos Prayer Altar and its' normal Bones now. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -

Behold! Tip.it Staff RuneHead Highscore List!
D. V. Devnull replied to The Observer's topic in General Discussion
Hmmm... 'Red_Tanya', stat-pwning 'Albosky' ??? :-s ....... While normally seeing a girl pwning a guy IRL is awesome, seeing this in RS in this manner is not something that quite settles in the back of my mind. So, while I'd normally not want to be the voice of competition, I have to say it (especially after at least 18 wins or more in the duel arena and only 1 loss to date, so yeah, I'm a little exhilarated)... STAT-PWN HER, ALBOSKY!!! I know you can do it, man!!! ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
Only sad that Jagex isn't giving players a chance versus these things, unless the player is part of a team that fights against revenants. Hmm... If only I had the tools to make one of my own. What a thought. And yet, I'll never get to execute it. :-k ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

You can bet good money he isn't just going to shut them down and do a vanilla install over what is currently running. It's going to be set up separately, tested by staff, modifications made to suit Tip.it, ect. I wouldn't doubt waiting a couple weeks for any other bugs to be found because of the wider use of the official release as well. Alright then, I don't mind waiting for those bugs to be handled before going towards upgrading. Thanks for the thoughts, Cruiser. : ~Mr. Devnull

Body Tiaras FTW then. (Note to self: Do those!!!) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

First off, yes, they are as nasty and powerful as their P2P counterparts, and for us F2Ps are too dangerously strong. Going near them in wildi is effective suicide for us, and when they come along, they chase us totally out of wildi! You're right, we don't know how to handle freezing and teleblock, because we didn't get to check it out ourselves! I think they do, although I remember times when there were hits getting past the mage protect. Although I might have been close enough to get melee'd (Which I know they do!) or ranged (If they even do such!) in those instances. Don't bet on it. :? ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Real suggestions to yesterdays updates
D. V. Devnull replied to nitram99's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Penguingeek, here's a thought that should make nadir shut their mouth, if they're thinking...: If Jagex is monitoring trades properly, both the gp buyer and seller will both get banned for their misdeeds. Opening up the margins to as much as 10% on trading would only speed up this detection and banning of the violators. So it is still good, even though potentially risky, but I do see how it could work and be applied. ... Although to be honest, I would prefer if G.E. gets the 10% margin, and Normal trades just get a 5% margin. Yes, it would mean longer before the gp added up into a bannable offense in normal trades, but it would give Jagex more proof. Anywho, I'm still gonna support nitram99. Their stuff would work. 8-) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
Well then, shall we ask Albosky to shut the forums down long enough to upgrade?!?!?!? :-s ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
-
Agreed. They can force you totally away from your training zone and out of wildi entirely, which is not nice to innocent players like you and I. Here's your wake-up call... I end up losing 16 of 20 swordies on F2P, even with Green Dragonhide Armor on!!! Those monsters hit you like as if it didn't matter!!! Now, you want to try to tell me that it shouldn't cost more than 5 on F2P? Just to expand properly, it is worse than dangerous. It is more like... ...and that's just my experience on the issue. They blow right through a F2P'ers HP like water. Not my cup of tea, you might say. :( ~Mr. Devnull (Currently on a very short fuse... He doesn't like those revenants.)

Uh, not anywhere on the map, just any multi-combat zone on a LootShare-Enabled server. Now, like I said, 'Nuff said. ~Mr. Devnull

F2p Mage Proposal *Read it now!* 105 supporters!!!!
D. V. Devnull replied to Komodoman360's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
People will think it's a bad game because fewer people are playing it ? Are you entirely stupid ? They've played the game themselves they know exactly how good it is. Also, how do you have any idea how much Jagex gets from ads ?? I would support the mage robe bottoms having a bonus, but boots and glvoes ? they're P2P We're not talking about having the P2P'ers gloves, we're talking about having basic gloves, but with mage bonuses for the higher level mages. Don't you get the point of this thread?!?!? :-s ~Mr. Devnull -
You're welcome, mrmyk. 8-) In the meantime... MODS, PLEASE LOCK NOW, THANKS! ~Mr. Devnull

Computer slow while playing RuneScape
D. V. Devnull replied to The Observer's topic in Tech and Computers
http://kb.iu.edu/data/afqp.html If java takes up about 50mbs of ram, and win98SE its self takes about 16-32 well.. you do the math. His machine is simply out dated D_V, and nothing can help that. Now, his machine JUST meets the minimum requirements for runescape, but the problem is that its not really taking into account his OS. Obviously he will run into problems. LOL  ... Well, aren't you the funny one. I've seen these so-called "Requirements", and what most all game makers don't tell you (Jagex included) is that these numbers usually include OS and necessary net-protection services, such as your AV and firewall. So I continue to stand by my advice to Killerred005. BTW, the last time I had a major foul-up with Java, clearing my Java Applet Disk Cache took care of it, along with clearing the Temp Internet Files. ~Mr. Devnull -
Given he pointed out it was a sarcastic reply, because he knew you're reply like this, we'd expect you to take it as a joke, but once again you have proven why nobody takes anything you say even remotely seriously anymore. LOL  ... Okay, you're just funny, Cruiser. However, I probably should have gotten the message from the " :^o " icon. Oh well. I'm probably too wound-up from the recent idiocy of Jagex in their most recent updates. -.- <*Checks Eelspremiers head for any bruising, finds some, pulls out one of his array of special staffs, heals the internal damage and external damage, and then disappears out of the thread until later*> ~Mr. Devnull

I know exactly what is going on, mrmyk... this is soooooooooo easy! Just follow these steps and you'll be fine...: 1.) Remove all the double-quote marks from the url tags. 2.) Put the "/size" Tag to the right of the "/color" Tag. With those steps followed and done, your siggy will change to what you had intended. Heck, here's the code from mine so you can see the difference...: [img=http://sig.runeweb.net/sig/5/D_V_Devnull.png] 100% F2P ... BTW, my chat is open 24/7/365, but I normally ain't there. Computer slow while playing RuneScape
D. V. Devnull replied to The Observer's topic in Tech and Computers
Killerred005, I got one question for you... Are you running the RS client with an advert above it? If so, no wonder you're having this problem, because the advert will steal clock cycles from the RS applet in a rather indiscriminate fashion. In short, even if you get a faster computer, you would continue to have this problem, maybe with less lag, but it will still impose itself. (I know this from personal experience, seeing as I do use a faster system.) So, you have a choice. The advert goes, or you go and effectively lose links with a lot of friends who don't know about Tip.It, which sadly, is how the advertisers who want to bend you to their will are making things these days. They don't want you to play, they want you to spend your money away so you can't do anything anymore, and they'll do any dirty trick they can to force it. :( And as for Cruiser saying your system is crap, he's wrong. I've checked my RAM usage here on Win XP, and I can safely tell you that Java while running RuneScape uses no more than about 50 MB, which leaves more than enough RAM (14 MB!!!) to be able to do other things, including run a firewall, antivirus, net link, and the OS all without trouble. Win98SE itself is capable of compacting down in RAM a lot, long as it has reasonable Virtual Swap to work with, and I'm sure you've got that, because either your swap is on 'auto-manage', or is set to equal in size to your RAM, or set to 1.5x your RAM at the minimum. : So, in short, permanently kill the adverts that could potentially infect your PC and will steal clock cycles, maybe drop your current Java Applet Disk Cache, clear your Temp Internet Files, and restart your PC one last time, because what you're seeing should not happen at all, Killerred005. :? ... About the only other thing I could suggest is to use Java 1.5.0_06 or later, which, if you already have such, is a moot point. :P See you on RuneScape soon. I've been haunting W7, Canada West, and the UK worlds these days. 8-) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
Rcty, the only reason that the info is on the right side there is because they're using a custom skin. That and they are '1337' (Elite) in knowing how PhpBB works, because they built it. Look at http://forums.xkcd.com for an example of PhpBB3 with the info on the left side of user posts. (Disclaimer: Link may not be safe for work or for children under 17.) I don't actually use their forums as more than a guest, but they're the only example I can think of on the fly. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Not everything. Go check out some of my old forum posts back in the super-early days of the "You're Banned" Game thread, before someone had to pick the wrong darn thing to do. At the moment, however, with the recent RS updates, I can be a bit unusually serious about stuff. Also, Eelspremiers said they were being serious, so... :P ...what do you expect me to think? ~Mr. Devnull
-
Only if you're P2P and have tele powers out the wazoo. But, again, you're another P2P'er who can't think of all the weaker people, which depresses me rather badly. :( ... Put yourself in our shoes in a mental sense for once, then you might get the idea a bit better of how bad things are. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
-
deathwalker & purepure4774, given your levels, you're both what I refer to as "Elite P2P Combatants". Sadly, I think you have failed to think about F2P and the Non-Elite P2Ps who are getting slaughtered by these things, or constantly almost dying to them. So, could you stick yourselves in our shoes in a mental sense, please? It would help. ~Mr. Devnull

How to fix RWT without "fixing" RS
D. V. Devnull replied to WingedFish's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Agreed. Nitram99 was able to think of better stuff than this thread tries to propose! ~Mr. Devnull -
Agreed. Also, I think theidiot11 does not get that RWT was damaging the company that built RS, and if that company dies, so does the game. So, do people want RS dead because RWT was allowed, or do they want it to live by having RWT-killing, yet player-friendly, suggestions active instead? :-s ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
-
Okay, F2P may be in potential need of new quests, but at this time, I'm not even gonna push for it. Probably not until the start of my 3rd year on RS. (I'm still in my 2nd year at this time.) If you want help from me on this, bug me after July 1st, not before, on this issue. All it will take to bug me is a posted thread about it in this forum area. <*Walks off for now...*> ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
-
Okay, Eelspremiers, I hope you're just being sarcastic and attempting to be funny. Otherwise... <*pulls out a giant bat*> ... Heh, Heh, Heh. I know what to do with those that go overboard. No I'm being deadly serious (no pun intended). According to a 2005 scientific study which involved 500 Tip.iters, not being able to log into TIF for a short period of time, was shown to cause premature death. But for the sake of your sarcasm radar, I'll put a nice one of these in >> :^o just to help it out with its detections. Yeah... right... as if not being able to log into a forum for a week or two is going to cause that. Sounds more to me like they had worse problems in their minds that led to such an action. Heck, I've got problems I've had since birth, but do you see me killing myself when the forums go down? NO. I'm smart enough to realize it will only be temporary, unless Tip.It leaves a set of notes on the front page of the main site, saying it will be down longer or may not be back for some reason. But I'm not gonna kill myself over it. -.- Personally, though, I think you're just talking a stack of [long bleep - too much swearing] falseness that shouldn't even be thought of in the first place. <*slams the bat across Eelspremiers and knocks them out cold*> ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
