Ray, aim for a combo of options #3/#4/#5. Literally, if you wish to be able to skill/tele/high-alch, and still be able to defend yourself should the evil chicken or something come, you may be looking at leveling defense (and in turn, combat and hitpoints) to levels that would enable you to wear stuff like Rune Armor and Green D'Hide Armor. I know, I may be a full omni, but most of my levels lately are from skilling. As another person in another thread you created made note of, you can still be a skiller and a kick-[bleep] mage at the same time. Just have a really high skill total in comparison to your combat level and combat stats, should you want the profile to look more "skiller" than "fighter". And BTW, make sure you have at least 40 hp minimum and 45 prayer minimum, if you wish to be able to stand and fight or even have a chance of running without dying. Leveling mage is going to seriously level combat towards the direction of 109. Just ran the numbers with Tip.It's own calculator... 1 atk/1 str/1 def/1 range/1 prayer/10 hp/99 mage = combat 50 (Combat is too dangerously high, automatic death will occur most of the time from a damage-causing random or other monster.) 1 atk/1 str/41 def/1 range/45 prayer/40 hp (estimated)/99 mage = combat 73 (99.999% chance of surviving any deadly random events or monsters, just flip on prayer and run. Much less damage will be taken with this layout.) ... and given those numbers, Ray, I think that just aiming for 99 mage alone without other proper combat development is outright suicide. However, I leave it to you to make your final decision on this. I just hope my info helps. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull (Late Note: Did you know that 10 hp is the starting base for all players?)

Just curious, what do you think of PhpBB3 overall? :-s 1) It's only been installed a couple days now (I wanna say 3). 3 days isn't enough time to play with everything, even if i didn't have #2 to worry about. 2) I havn't had time to look at any of it due to finals. 3) I won't know till I get around to working on customizing our skin in between other things I've been putting off because of school. Okay, no problem. : ... Feel free to just pop your opinion whenever you've finally had enough time to use it, whether by thread post or PM. I'm not gonna rush you. :) ~Mr. Devnull

On-Topic (quote image converted to link due to width) ...: Would be a nice idea. Maybe one I wouldn't make outright use of, if at all, but a nice idea. 8-) The only thing remaining to question is how hard it would be at this point for Albosky to implement, as well as whether or not he would be willing to, and why. :? Off-Topic: Just curious, what do you think of PhpBB3 overall? :-s ~Mr. Devnull

17 December 2007 - Future Changes to Recent Updates
D. V. Devnull replied to Jordanweb's topic in General Discussion
I'm doing some serious catch-up on this... Yes they should, if they want the full game they should pay for it. By the time a player has finished all f2p quests they should have moved onto members, if they haven't they are just leeching jagex's bandwidth. We free players supply you members with your raw lobsters and your yew logs and your coal and your iron ores and your... First off, Jordanweb, you should not be taking my words out of context like this. Quote and response based on a full paragraph is necessary when you're replying to me, as in the meantime, if you're smart enough, you may understand what I'm talking about. So, nice shooting yourself in the foot there. LOL  Further, Jordanweb, there are people who are unable to pay the $5/month ever to play as a P2P, and have friends who don't want them gone that are P2P'ers. (I happen to be an F2P with this kind of situation!) Are you trying to hurt those P2P'ers in the process? Are you trying to be flat rude or nasty? HMMMM?!?!? Now, Jordanweb, the main point I was trying to originally make was, "The 'legal & innocent F2P'ers (which I am one of) should not be treated the same as RWT'ers in any way, shape, or form." Also, Artificial_Doom_Flavor rather much made a good note of why F2P should be treated more equally with the P2P'ers. F2P is usually handling most of the stuff that P2P buys to be able to blast through their levels so fast. So we need some larger margins (about 10k preferred, which still kills RWT'ers) to work with to be able to sell to P2P at a reasonable price, as well as for trading amongst our own worlds. Why, Jordanweb, do you think you have so much competition up there in the ranks? Other P2P'ers have been buying stuff to be able to trouble you with. If you're out to cut them down by cheating yourself, then cutting down F2P would be the way to do it. Personally, I would say that if you're not going to buy your supplies from F2P, then I think you should beat those other P2Ps fairly instead of cutting their method off. BTW, one last note... players fall into 8 categories that I know of these days ... 1.) Good Non-"Pure User" P2P'ers 2.) Good Non-"Pure User" F2P'ers 3.) Good "Pure User" P2P'ers 4.) Good "Pure User" F2P'ers 5.) Noob P2P'ers 6.) Noob F2P'ers 7.) Rule-Breaking P2P'ers 8.) Rule-Breaking F2P'ers ... and while I know that groups #7 & #8 need to both get deep-sixed by Jagex, I know at the same time that groups #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, and #6 should not be getting hurt in the process of killing off groups #7 & #8. Personally, I'm surprised you want to hurt groups #2, #4, and #6, Jordanweb. We F2P are in this fight with you and other P2P against RWT, being rather much as hurt (if not worse so) by this as you are, and not against you, so why pick to backstab F2P anyway? ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
It would figure that Andrew would hide his face. He really doesn't want someone to be looking for him. LOL  ~Mr. Devnull
-
At least you're p2p so you can handle them. Sadly, too many F2Ps have run into them alone, and can't handle that kind of pressure. :( Could you mentally stick yourself in an F2P'ers shoes a moment, please, and think about it in that aspect and manner? Thanks in advance. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Jagex fails on a sticky runescape situation
D. V. Devnull replied to kevylord's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
I get what you mean. You can't control who's gonna be there or how things will operate now at your drop party. Put simply and obviously, Jagex hurt too many innocent players while trying to stop RWT (Real World Trading), and didn't think about this impact well enough to do the job right the first time. Further, I don't ever expect to see them properly correct it. They're deciding to use a 'quest point'-based system to open up the margins, but they really should have used a percentage system. 5% to 10% would have been sufficient with a ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâñ3k arbitrary applied with it. Further, the 'G.E.' should have been more than 5% in its' own margins. It should have had at least 10% to 15% margins applied on it, to allow a more realistic economy, and as such, proper trading between players, both in and out of the 'G.E.' :( ... Sadly, Jagex failed there too, and so when trying to trade, some people don't want to pay the real market value of items like "Cooked Lobsters", which as everyone who has at least half a brain knows, runs for '250 gp ea'. Someone actually tried to undercut me today by too much for 27 'Cooked Lobsters' (Which adds to 6750 gp total!!!) that I was selling outside Bounty Hunter, and tried to tell me to (and I quote) "get a life" when I wouldn't budge. I don't think they studied properly, or they'd know that Jagex fouled up the market prices rather badly because they didn't check the normal F2P markets (Which is where the real market zone is, BTW!!!) while trying to gather price info. -.- ... Also, I live with my family, so I've already got as good a life as I will ever get. I hope Jagex will fix themselves soon, before they finish killing what was an already good game and the elements thereof. I've actually hit a point where I won't be able to function without a properly free in-game market, and I'm one of those legal & innocent players that I'm talking about. If trying to sell something like green d'hide stuff that I need to when I see chances for it as it stands now, I'm basically shot. I paid a lot of gp for it, hard-earned gp, and this bunch of new market systems is effectively a slap in the face of every respectable player who's ever played this game, as it has dipped their so-called "Allowed Price Range" that they may sell at, which prevents them from selling at all! I guess my own dabbling in merchanting is done and gone. All that I will get to do now is to just make stuff, high-alch it, and let be at the gp from it. But I guess that's what happens when a bunch of noobs get to control the game through the RSOF (RuneScape Official Forums) because they can afford it, thereby creating an aristocratic system, instead of Jagex looking around fan sites like this rather reputable and respectable one, Tip.It, for thoughts and ideas. For now, enough of me and my telling the truth through steam-blowing. I've got a headache from all of this anyway. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -

Yeah, that upsets me. F2P should NOT be penalized in this department! We're still getting lumped in with the RWT'ers! ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
[hide=Bag Of Quotes (Click to Open)] Lol, ROFL. Thats pretty funny, lol. But I think That they do have people on all the forums. To see what players "Really" think of the updates. They definitely do. In one of their updates, I remember them say that they look on fansites as well as rsof for feedback from the players. Odd, I got a reply from a message saying that Jagex does not look on other fan sites for advice, ideas, or to see what parts of their community think of them. :-k [/hide] Would be rather stupid of Jagex to not look. Most of their adult or smart players are out on sites like Tip.It, just simply because they don't have $5/month! ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

I'm sure Jagex doesn't need the "popparozzi" (sp?) in their face anyway. ~Mr. Devnull

Good question. I'd love to know the answer to that myself. -.- ~Mr. Devnull

Jagex fails on a sticky runescape situation
D. V. Devnull replied to kevylord's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Many people find it fun to be successful in the game without having to raise their skills.I know I do. Thanks to the simultaneous existence of the Grand Exchange and Bounty Hunters, my f2p level 3 now has well over 1.5m in cash, as well as a full wizard (g) set and a mage (t) amulet. I think it's pretty fun to beat the system that way without cheating, don't you? Even if RuneScape is "not about" merchanting, the fact still stands that this and many other options that were once open to players were a great part of the game's appeal, certainly much more so than raising one's skills by mindlessly, repeatedly clicking on objects. Note that I have never once autotyped on my 3 pure merchant, though I have been accused of it on more than one occasion. Well said, Artificial_Doom_Flavor ... I also liked being able to buy full rune/d'hide/etc. at a low price from someone who wanted to sell low and sell for more later should I happen to need bank space or want to beat another overpriced seller's offer. But with these latest updates, that's gone, and I hate it being gone. Players should be able to make gp they need for some skills through other legal stuff, such as item sales, but with the prices being locked down, that's now been rendered no longer possible. Jagex needs to realize that a more variable in-game economy is necessary for the game to function properly. :? And BTW, I know how you feel about being called an "auto-typer user". I've had the same kind of problem happen to me sometimes, due to my own natural ability to type rather fast on short sentences, and some long ones, for short periods. Kinda upsets me that any legal fast-typing human would get lumped in with the Macroers and Autoers, and when we're just making use of our natural human ability. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
solution to unbalanced trades and item lending
D. V. Devnull replied to Ibcrootbeer's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
This would help with situations where a hacker takes over a friend-of-a-person's account, so I will support this, seeing as it would help the friend get revenge on the hacker through the person who loaned the friend something. Kinda cool, actually. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
Maybe you can fix their 'line of thinking' then? :-s ~Mr. Devnull
-
We can only hope... :( However, I feel that any further trading through Tip.It's marketplace will be screwed now. People won't be able to choose their own prices near at all for their sales now, and will constantly be at the mercy of Jagex as to what prices they can choose, which basically sends their trading to hell. Well, if it takes killing the RS economy to prevent the death of the game by Macroers/Autoers/RWT'ers, so be it, I guess. Although, I find it sad that Jagex didn't find a better way, especially when they say they've got great detection systems. :( ... Leaves me to believe that they are not as great as Jagex purports them to be. :notalk: ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
-
Good luck to you. Smack Jagex's workers around for every law-abiding and innocent player (including those that have left RS due to this) they've caused upset and trouble to, would you? ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

More F2P Bank Space! [BANKSPACE ACHIEVED!]
D. V. Devnull replied to Prankster_King's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
I'd prefer to have Fletching over Summoning any day. It would at least, even if only small parts of it were made avilable to F2P, give F2P Rangers a better chance at fighting versus melee. Also, since the Chaos Altar access location is in F2P, why not enable F2P to rc them also? This would give F2P Mages a fighting chance also against both Range and Melee, as well as pick up for certain sale deficits I've noticed lately in-game. Also, Agility would be nice to have some small access to in F2P, especially since I have noticed that P2P players' Run Meters have been recharging far faster than a F2P-only player, AND IN F2P WORLDS!!! That kind of thing happening, in itself, is hypocritical to Jagex's Policy for P2P to have no in-game advantages over F2P. And as for one last thing, you're right, some don't know what they have until Jagex starts taking it away. I will miss the ability to actually make a profit on legal trades. Legal and innocent F2P'ers & Legal and innocent P2P'ers should not be losing their ability to gain 10k profit on an item like full rune armor, just for an example. Well, here's to future hopes and looking forward. :? ... Maybe Jagex will do something to cause players to want to come back, like making it 5%+3k difference on trades? If Jagex's Detection Systems are as good as Jagex says they are, they should be still able to catch illegal RWT even with those kind of restraints. (At least, that's my opinion, if not the opinion of many others right along with me.) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
What about "Green D'hide Full (t)"??? :-s ~Mr. Devnull

Male/Female politics I see? Lol, well I do think it was a great Idea. Very clever of your Killerred! I never knew subtlerune was level 3, but I always knew that I had A Deal was. I also wasn't suprised to see Val number 1. Someone challenge her for the number one rank! (Level 3's FTW!) ~Alina I bet you that killerred005 was not even thinking of gender-based politics in building this. I just happened to bring it up without realizing it either... Go Figure. :P Still, though, I think Albosky should make his self the admin with the best stats somehow. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
In 2 words? "WE WISH." :? Best I got has been 100+ coins. That's all, and I've been only able to kill one of the many Revenant species that exist, and even then, I had to have help. The rest of the time, I've ended up running from them, and I don't like running from a monster. As I have voiced before, and I will voice again, I think the Gower Brothers signed a pact with the devil. Why else would these hellish things now happen to RuneScape? Why would it have been so easily been affected by RWT'ers/Macroers/Autoers? Why so many careless people? Why so many items being 'nerfed'? Why a lack of F2P bank space until now, which was causing people to create "bank accounts" and the like? There are many more questions, but I want to know, for all of them, WHY?!?!? ~Mr. D. V. Devnull (Pardon the rant, but it was necessary. I'm almost a mental wreck from the near-death occurrences from Revenants. Okay, I think that at least helped cool me down a little... maybe... :| ...)
