HOLY [cabbage] THIS CAN'T BE GOOD!
D. V. Devnull replied to runescapeloser22's topic in Tech and Computers
That is true, I will admit. However, you will find it worth the cash to buy ZA Pro in the more recent versions, because of the finer levels of control the program provides over the free counterpart. Sure, use the free version if you wish, you just won't have the extra-fine-grain control that I've grown to like. :) And BTW, I've used the free version, NEVER have had a problem with it. In fact, it has saved the life of the PCs I have used a few times! (Still remembers one night at 2 am in the morning where the firewall had shrugged off over 1100 hits within a 2-hour time period.) ~Mr. Devnull -
You're probably right. :) However, I admit I am a lunatic in that for some reason, I keep an eye on my "post per day average" and feel like if I'm not keeping that high enough then I'm not doing enough to help the community I like. :anxious: (Maybe I'm the definition of a "True Fanatic"? :-s ...) ~Mr. Devnull ============================== Yet another quick update: Okay, the one on my sidebar is updating properly, but my main profile isn't updating for several moments at a time... weird. :| ============================== One more update: I get what's going on now. Slow spot in the database update for certain items. I can live with that, so PLEASE LOCK THIS THREAD. Thanks in advance, and sorry for the waste in posting space. :( ~Mr. Devnull

decisions for ways to make money f2p..
D. V. Devnull replied to deathmonark's topic in Help and Advice
Not possible. However, they may have been talking about lobsters or swordfish. ~Mr. Devnull -
I like the idea, but I am willing to wait for phpBB3 to come forth. Thanks for at least popping the note. :) ~Mr. Devnull

Hey, Staff of Tip.It (and especially Albosky), I hate to bother you guys again like this, knowing that you're all loaded down, but I just noticed that threads I am sticking replies on in both the "Help and Advice" section, and the "Tech and Computers" section, are both failing to register on my post count. :-s Per the thread that is up as to where post count should not be added to, unless the rule has changed for some reason I didn't expect, those should be adding. :? Can you look into this and let me know what's up when you have time? :| Thanks in advance. :) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull (Un-official bug-noticing nutcase of Tip.It) =============================== QUICK UPDATE: I just noticed my post count jumped a few. Is the database handling stuff having trouble for some reason?

What just happened? (new random event???)
D. V. Devnull replied to Ilovesd90mac's topic in Help and Advice
This one is rather old, Ilovesd90mac, and it is known as the "Capt' Arnav" random event, found at http://tip.it/runescape/?page=random_events.htm within Tip.It's guides. Look for that name I have put in double quotation marks on that page. You'll be glad you did. :D ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
HOLY [cabbage] THIS CAN'T BE GOOD!
D. V. Devnull replied to runescapeloser22's topic in Tech and Computers
runescapeloser22, kill anything Ad-Aware thinks is bad with a TAI of 4 or higher, and be careful and look through anything with a TAI of 3 or less. Anything you need or want, keep those, and kill the rest. And BTW, if you find that some app you were using won't run later, it was due to something that needed to be killed with a TAI of 4 or higher. This also means the associated application should never have been installed at all and you will want to rid yourself of it. (I'm glad I arrived with my knowledge of how to handle that... problem solved now, I hope.) Hobgoblin11 and blade995, as for your software firewall problems, you should both get ZoneAlarm Pro 6.5 or later. And do take the time to read the help, it does point out what you want and need to know about how to configure that thing so it doesn't misbehave. 8-) ... (As a case example, I learned very quickly with an earlier version when I wanted to torrent some fansub episodes of Naruto via ̢̮â¬Å¡ÃâõTorrent. But enough about that, since it is more or less trivial to mention upon this discussion.) 3 people, 2 problem types, 1 post to handle it all. : ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
I fully agree with mchainmail about rule 15... Also, there are parents who have a house policy that doesn't allow display of adverts, therefore forcing the person playing RuneScape to be auto-violating that rule. The rule is effectively, in its' very essence, fully and completely unfair, and should be done away with. The parents (and/or person playing) have paid for the speed and bandwidth they have enabled to them for accessing the net anyway, and therefore have a right to choose what and what not comes through. (This normally puts control of the bandwidth out of the reach of the person playing RuneScape, I shall note again here.) Oh... One more thing. Sometimes the ISP is blocking the advertisement. Guess what? This means that the player who isn't seeing the advert (just like with parents controlling their house policy) is auto-violating Rule 15 again. But, and here's the kicker, in all these cases, that means that the fault is not actually on the person playing and they should not be banned for it. =; I can say, if I ever see anyone wrongfully banned over this rule, I will raise hell. :x ... 'Nuff said. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

I do both, because in some ways there is no point to one without the other. 'Nuff said. ~Mr. Devnull

I pitch mine primarily into prayer  , and one or two every now and then into hp :P or rc  , with primary tilt toward rc. I'll only pop one into other skills if I need to force it to level suddenly. (Hasn't happened often, but it does!) ~Mr. Devnull

More F2P Bank Space! [BANKSPACE ACHIEVED!]
D. V. Devnull replied to Prankster_King's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
From what I hear from one of my p2p buddies, Jagex is totally ignoring this thread. Looks like we'll have to take action with a rally or something. :-k ~Mr. Devnull -
decisions for ways to make money f2p..
D. V. Devnull replied to deathmonark's topic in Help and Advice
deathmonark, try crafting gold-based items and silver-based items. Money is to be found there. : ~Mr. Devnull -
I chose all, because of the fact that I use all my f2p-available skill options, as appropriate to my current levels. OMNI-SKILLS FTW!!! ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Nobody chooses to become addicted to something. Whether it be drugs, booze, cigarettes, chocolate, porn, runescape, other video games, I doubt anyone just woke up and thought "Oooh, what shall I do today? Oh I know! I'll become an addict!" My uncle did and now he is on crack and meth and has been to jail 3 times this year. Dandude5007 has posted something that I rather much agree with. It does a nice job showing the upsides too. Personally, I hope you can somehow show your uncle that post. Maybe you can turn them around and back into a better person? :-k ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Wilderness Capes for F2P. | 35+ Supporters!
D. V. Devnull replied to The Observer's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
I fully and completely support this, either as in the same way as the colored gloves from Canifis, or as some capes being made available to F2P direct buying access. 8-) (Yes, I have arrived. I'll be tracking this thread now.) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
F2p Mage Proposal *Read it now!* 105 supporters!!!!
D. V. Devnull replied to Komodoman360's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Best damage per second? What a laugh. In the time it takes an f2p mage to get off one shot, f2p rangers (wielding a maple shortbow) have had time to get off two, and f2p warriors (using a rune scimmy...) have had time to slice 3 times. By this time, the Mage is hurting in the extreme and is already on the short end of the matter. Also as a case example, even with my nice 62 mage, a lot of my shots fail, so it is more like they get up anywhere from 4 (for rangers) to 6 (for warriors) in on me (and most any other f2p mage) and I'll basically end up running off with just what I have left!!! Jagex's people need to recognize this, and fix the mage firing rate! Now, as for this... Uhm... hold it... what do you mean "wizard robe bottom"? There is NO actual wizard robe bottom on f2p! The wizzy robes, (t) & (g), are both statless on the bottoms! We need one in the first place, because all the bottom wear we have that does anything is either for warrior or ranger or prayer-user, there isn't any mage bottom that has stats! Pardon me while I take a break from this kind of "easily demolished insanity", as I love to refer to it... -.- ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -

Monday Poll: What brightness setting do you play on?
D. V. Devnull replied to MPM's topic in General Discussion
No, that would put too many useless buttons/options for users and a complete do-over of all our work. What it could do though, is determine what we use from now on. Gee, thanks ... that ruined a perfectly nice idea for those who keep swapping up their brightness setting constantly based on their situations and time of day! :? -.- <*Whips out a large runite warhammer and beans misplacedme, hard. ...*> ~Mr. D. V. Devnull (Note to 'misplacedme': No offense intended, I just couldn't resist some slapstick humor. ...) -

Monday Poll: What brightness setting do you play on?
D. V. Devnull replied to MPM's topic in General Discussion
My vote: 1st Notch (25%) Now, as for this: Actually, there are dozens of things that we could change based just on how bright the screen is. Image standardization-maps, images, mosnters. All sorts of things you can think of ;) I agree with misplacedme on this one. I could actually see them scripting in light settings in the super-wide map loads here on tip.it and even having them save as cookies in your browser so that you wouldn't have to fight with it every time you wanted a map up on screen of something. (I'd personally like something like that, BTW. ...) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull -
aguenst the rules, right? sorry if im wrong. Thank you for letting me have the open slot in which to cut you down by not omitting Jagex's own asterisk on that item. Second, thanks for forcing me to do a little work before I could answer your post too. (Darn formatting issues!!!) [Edit from author: Never use White as your text color! It doesn't show up on some people's displays! I almost didn't see it!] Now, really quick here, to answer your question, due to that asterisk, it is not against the rules. However, discussion on it must be kept locked to a very small space. Such as Jagex's "Asterisk Thread" and/or this thread here on Tip.It! So, no, we are not breaking Jagex's rules at all. Have a nice day. 8-) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Before I get started, I should note that I was forced to edit RayOxide's quote's formatting. None of his actual message was touched. Now, down to the points...: Yeah, umm. How!? "Send me 200k and I will send you 1 mil!!!!!11" I don't think so. -.- Actually, that was kind of what I was thinking :-k ... except more like... The problem is, the person receiving the gp could just up and run off with it instead of having to turn over the Rune PlateBody. See my point? Too many awful scammer opportunities. Explain. Now. Idiot. Oh, I thought this might be some suggestion for mailing buddies who are offline and having them pick up the mail on their next login. ... And BTW, don't cut your sentences with periods. It makes you sound like an idiot. (I've heard enough of William Shatner doing it for one lifetime, thanks!) Agreed. Really makes an idea like this stink as to how exploitable it would be for something like that. ... ... ... Alright, so... any ideas how this idea can be fixed? Or is it 100% decimated like I thought it was? At the moment, I see too much downside, too little upside. Implementing this is therefore not worth it. ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

Why Won't Flesh Crawlers Auto Attack Anymore?!
D. V. Devnull replied to Championfurydelta123's topic in Help and Advice
You dont even have to go to a "loading", or even off of their screen. In taverly dungeon, just go behind the fire obelisk and the dragons will be aggressive again. Yeah, "aggro lines" FTL (for the loss)....... ~Mr. Devnull -
It looks like justly so. Look at the following quote from someone up above... (Note: I had to clip out a few line feeds I found in the mess... actual message text is NOT altered.) Tip off??? I would have to say so. :| ~Mr. Devnull
