  1. They wouldn't need to shut RS down. All they would have to do would be to set up a special beta server for the new control interface, or develop a special interlink for the normal servers. :) And as for the sky? 'HA! Who needs one?' I'm just concerned about looking around! ~Mr. Devnull
  2. Komodo, I'll draw you a set of stats here you might be able to use in your draft... they are for the clothes only, not ammys/weapons/shields, seeing as those do not need to be considered... read below... Stats for a special full F2P mage clothing set: ================================== Attack.... Defense... ---------- ---------- Stab: +1 Stab: +2 Slash: +0 Slash: +2 Crush: +5 Crush: +7 Magic: +15 Magic: +15 Range: +0 Range: +3 Strength: +0 Prayer: +6 (from bottom robe only) I personally think these numbers are plenty reasonable. I've compensated "-2" for a normal F2P cape on range, but left enough to make the robe set seem at least like it is worth something. Once you add it all to a 'mage staff', plus any ammy, plus an Anti-Dragon Shield (which mages use a lot), it all comes out pretty well, but NOT as good as Mystic (from what I know of that, anyway) by a reasonable longshot... and it even gives "prayer freaks" (ME! ...) something they want. What do you think??? :-s ~Mr. Devnull
  3. Only reason I am asking for a 40KB limit is because when trying to send a thought with images, it is sometimes impossible to stay within the limit. :( For Example, add these together: In numbers: 10.13 KB + 8.45 KB + 17.05 KB = 35.63 KB This isn't a perfect example, but it starts to convey what I mean. The current limit of 30KB is too small to accomodate this. I am reasonably sure that there are people who would love to have this upgraded. :) Also, if you check the code of my current signature... ...you will notice that I am right near the character limit, if not right on it. Sure, trying to lend my support to so much is a bit of a stretch, and this one isn't at the file size limit, but I see no reason to be penalizing people for trying to gain support for a few suggestions, or leave fast links to things that might be worth discussing. This is where the 300-character limit upgrade comes into play. Now, in response to Cruiser's file size issues, no one is going to be crazy enough to always hit the 40 KB limit or 300-character limit in a "dead on" fashion, so 800 KB file grabs will not be an issue. Also, from personal experience, when I was on Dial-Up (56 Kbps) with only a mere 200 MHz computer (Not 2 GHz, don't misinterpret that as a typo), signatures of this kind of sizes were no problem to me at all on super-huge forums. Heck, I've used Yahoo! Games combined with SpinChat.com on a link of that size at the same time, and still been able to load additional web sites and forum pages on the fly, no sweat. In fact, I am beginning to think Cruiser is over-exaggerating the issue... :| And one other thing... I'm not out to have a "pretty signature". In fact, I find it funny you'd be like that toward me. ... I just sometimes feel that only an image can convey what words can not. I'm one of those "function, not gloss" freaks. Heck, I drop my random items on RuneScape, give or take the frog tokens. Sure, I wish I could hang onto them, but I don't NEED them. Point made? :-s To parabola, you're thinking of exactly what I wish to avoid on this mess. :? ... Even though there is a "hide all signatures" option, I think that kind of "all or nothing" item is far too blunt. I feel that there should be options to hide signatures, but leave a link to click to show them, kind of like the "New 'hide' item PhpBB command", as well as options to not show images or hide them when they are above certain file sizes and dimensions. I know this would take Albosky a hell of a lot of coding, but I am one seriously patient person 99.9999999% of the time. (Everyone should have noticed I'm remaining reasonably cooled with my voice here on the forums in this post. \ ...) I'm willing to wait for Albosky to implement a "super-major change" as long as needs be for it to not cause him any kind of ultimate stress or frustration. If that means waiting 3 or 4 months, so be it. I won't lose my marbles in the meantime, because it won't be the end of the world. And that is my current thoughts on the issue, folks. 8-) Please, discuss! ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  4. Hello all... Here's info on "my current mage status", primarily for comparison purposes ;) ... I personally have always been F2P, therefore I can only use normal magic. If I ever get to be P2P (which will be like never, unless I am lucky), I will probably pick to craft most all my runes except for the rare few I can't craft. This will allow me to use all magic modes with good ease. As it stands right now, I'm barely getting by here and there. Crafting runes burns me out. :( ... Thankfully, the 'multiple rune boost' and my mage level have more than paid off for what stress and such I have dealt with. :) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull
  5. As of this post, the count is now: 14,143 Person to smash: mark63534 ***D_V_Devnull suddenly smashes mark63534 with a huge "DeltaPrime Magnum Tank"... The tank isn't harmed, but mark63534 looks like a splat on the asphalt.*** Stilev, you're right on. I dunno how a post just suddenly disappeared from this thread, or things got thrown off, but it bugs me. Everything was right on before. :-k ~Mr. Devnull
  6. Komodo, have faith and patience in your idea. I'm sure it will take a while to gain the popularity of Prankster_King's "More F2P Bank Space", but I am sure it took his thread quite some time too to get the popularity it has now. ;) ... (If I had to siggy it and people are mentioning my name on arrival, that has to say something about how tough it is to get supporters.) ~Mr. Devnull
  7. 14,166 Hello again, everyone. I'm one of the nutcases who reported those spam posts. Dunno who reported the other before I could. Anywho, I'm glad those posts are gone now. ~Mr. Devnull
  8. you could always telegrab I don't always think of that. #-o ... Although, being I am F2P, I have to look at Law Rune Costs. :( ... (Since these quotes feel aimed at me in some odd way, I'm replying to it too.) Even further, Joes_So_Cool and mchainmail, I assume with my strategies (even though I do not make it a paramount rule) that most people are going to put work into their RC skill and make most of their runes in the first place. Also, if they are F2P, they will buy the Laws, Chaos, Natures, Deaths, and Cosmics that they will need to do their in-game operations. I also assume that they are trying for speed in their kills, which will save them time in the long run. Fire Attacks like "Fire Strike", "Fire Bolt", and "Fire Blast" are all the most effective, especially when used within the definitions of my strategies. Just thought I'd note this. :P ~Mr. Devnull
  9. Not Pointless... "First-person view" = "can look up or into something without having camera troubles" ~Mr. Devnull
  10. You're right about this, tripsis. I knew I forgot something in my post, I just couldn't figure out what before. #-o :wall: To expand on this in a practical and real manner: Some people don't just trust the words of one person. Especially those who are new to these forums and are asking their first questions and posting their first thoughts. To those who would be against tripsis and me on this, put yourself in a newbie's shoes. Think hard and think well. Would you just trust one person, or would you want at least 5 people saying the same thing before you did something that could potentially waste hours of your time and tons of your personal resources, only to result in it being a mere waste due to something going wrong? (Personally, I'd want confirmation... :-s ...although, I only ask for help when even my friends can't help me.) ~Mr. Devnull
  11. Here's my personal suggestion: Avatars: 8 KB AND 100x100 size limits... (only a hair larger than before...) Why? I think many people, even dial-up users, hate how their avatars are degraded in quality by the current limits of 6KB and 80x80... A few hairs extra wait on that shouldn't be awful. (Personally, I don't get why Tip.It doesn't allow people to externally host their avatars, which would pose less bandwidth trouble to Tip.It, period!) Signatures: 40 KB (change) and 450x175 (Last known current) for images, max of 6 (change) images... also a "300 character" (change) limit... Why? The original maximum dimension for all images is fine by me. The only problems I have ran into are the character limit and the file size limit. Anyone wishing to display more than 6 images with those max dimensions, however, should just make them into links to images. I personally understand about the image height issues, and recently had to crack down on the forum site I'm building for my clan. (250 pixel height limit over there, BTW...) BTW, for those who wish to flame me, please don't. I've already tried to consider all the odds and ends. Best Regards, Mr. Devnull
  12. Hmm... an interesting dilemma... time for my $5.00 on the matter. (Intentionally twisted pun... ...) ... Although, I'm gonna sound semi-contradictive on a few things... First off, I have noticed that the "Topic Line" has a seriously short limit. To accomodate something like this, the Tip.It Admins would have to add at least another 5 to 10 characters to the Topic Line Length Limit. I personally therefore suggest that a shorter header add like "[QSF]", which stands for "Question Solution Found" be what is added, preferably to the front of the thread title, if the thread author wants their thread locked due to completion. : Second, some people do not fit the usual strand of those who can use a guide perfectly. This is sometimes why all these extra question topics keep popping up. I can not say this enough, there is no one perfect answer in many to most cases. I don't think people should get nailed for trying to expand. Stealing credit, yes we want to nail them... but not for expanding something, like how something can be "practically implemented" to a given situation. Think about it a bit. :-k ... Sure, credit should be given to the first to put the idea into the thread, but without thought for "practical implementation", what use is it?!? :-s Third off, I think it is best to leave at least some spare room for additional answers to drop in after the initial notice of a topic being complete, just in case the first few solutions fail, without much fear of being shot for it. :? ... This will give time for those who aren't along the usual curve to have a chance to get additional help before they end up killing their own thread, as well as potentially lift the notification off that they are done. (This obviously, would re-open the topic for further discussion completely.) Fourth, as for spamming with agreements, I feel that should be a case-by-case issue. Sometimes a little short-said agreement is helpful, like 1 or 2 posts max on a given point. :) ... But I digress on this, with note that 10 or 15 posts of just "I agree" or "+1" can be quite a bit annoying. Thanks to whoever reads my thoughts and takes them into consideration. For some reason, I am feeling awfully dizzy now. :| ... Please excuse me while I go try to figure out why. -.- ... (Personally, I think I used a brain cell too many at the same time. ...) ~Mr. Devnull
  13. ***D_V_Devnull suddenly feeds misplaced me to one of the Dagganoth Kings.*** misplacedme, this thread is for discussion of a "RuneScape Suggestion", not for plugging WoW... We want to play RS, not WoW, so please quit trying to push Blizzard's over-hyped game at us. :x 'Nuff said. ~Mr. Devnull
  14. I've been wishing RS would have a first-person mode for quite some time. Sadly, I feel it will never happen. Good luck to you, though. ~Mr. Devnull
  15. Well, you don't want to use dots... as identified here: [img=http://img180.imageshack.us/im.....vl2gn8.png] ~Mr. Devnull
  16. Off-Topic Response: btw, thank you...which one? Uhm, you didn't notice my edit to... ...did you? :-s ~Mr. Devnull
  17. Not really. Read on as to why... I was stumbling around with my main account for the most part until I reached combat 70+... before then, since Late July 2005 (when I began playing RS), staying alive was a pain in the rear and I died and ended up back in Lumbridge many times. Each time I died was a super-major impact to my player account. I will never forget it, due to how badly I was impacted and frustrated by my in-game losses. :( ... Since I got past CB 70, it has been more work, if anything, to level up and gain in-game money for my in-game operations. Especially since now I have to compete with those who would dare violate the RS rules constantly, and battling with them to gain my in-game scores and resources is utter hell. Worse, I am unable to gain the IRL money to go RS P2P, so I can't escape the rule-breakers either. (Don't flame me about this. :x ... You can not understand the life I live unless you live something similar.) About the only reason I personally remain on RS anymore is due to the good buddies and friends I have. I don't feel much like totally leaving and treating them like [bleep]ing [bleep]... :| ... but at the same time, I keep trying to level up a bit because my buddies challenge me to. When it comes right down to it in trying to stick with my buddies, it really is all about the levels these days. Just like the title of that article. ~Mr. Devnull
  18. Off-Topic, but must be answered to: lol, your not late at all Actually, and quite technically, they aren't. If my memory serves right, there is a "1 month before you can't post anymore" limit on most all threads. Ask a staff member if you don't believe me. ~Mr. Devnull
  19. You're very welcome. :) As an added note, make sure you train runecrafting up by making tons of member runes before then. You'll need them as an F2P'er. Especially the Natures, Laws, and Chaos. Deaths are reserved normally here for when you're really ticked off and/or have run into something/someone who wishes to die. BTW, while you train, if you need to rush up to something to grab stuff under it and get back to your safespot without being harmed badly, equip a ton of "bind" rune sets along with the "curse/weaken/confuse", "high alch", and "fire strike/bolt/blast" sets. (Sorry I missed that in my original info. :( ...) ~Mr. Devnull
  20. They'll only do that if they wish to turn potential members away, especially ones who think that there should be no unfair high score list advantages. ~Mr. Devnull
