Noobiest Way You Made Money As A Noob?
Some of the methods I've read are quite ingenious when compared to my brilliant scheme of making money! When I was totally new to the game in February 2001, all I did was hang out in Al Kharid for some reason. 'Twas my home. That single house with the one man and one boot respawn, to be exact. I'd constantly kill men for money and collect boots to sell to the general store, and I'd brag to my friends that I'd be able to make 7 gold pieces every time I went to the general store. You can sell three boots for 2 gold pieces each, and then the fourth the store will only buy for one gold pieces. At least, that's what it was back then - I've no idea if that still holds true. Well, I thought it was a brilliant plan. :D

Whats your favourite rare?
I feel like many people are just saying a blue party hat because that happens to be the most valuable of them - and not basing it on how it looks. I think the blue party hat is pretty lame, I hate that kind of ultramarine blue - blegh. It doesn't even really go with anything on RuneScape. Maybe wizard robes? Alas, that'd make too much of a blue overdrive. Anyway! I happen to have at least one of every 'rare item,' so I'll list ones which happen to be my favourites. :) For a 'rare' that is wearable, I'd have to go with a white party hat. White's always in style, and it goes awfully well with white gloves/boots, gnome scarf and the legends cape. That's my usual outfit when I'm not doing anything special or dangerous. For a 'rare' that is not-wieldable, I'm going to have to make it a draw. I just love how the disk of returning looks. Many items I feel are drawn/designed rather half-assed as compared to the RSC counterpart, but I love the colour and quirkiness of the disk. My second nominee is the half jug of wine - it's just too funny how valuable that is. Maybe it's just funny to people who played in early 2001 and constantly, constantly, constantly went through jugs and half jugs of wine every day while training. :) Now they're worth more than the total amount of money in RuneScape at that time, yeesh. So yeah, white party hat.

Why skillers?
Could your oldest character possibly be Cali X?

the old, forgotten legends of rs
Yep, that's exactly what it was about. L6vi was from Estonia and it meant Lion. :) Good to see posts from Das and Arsenes. ;) I don't know how you can play RuneScape and not know the legend that is OldMansChild. ;) Better said, the legendary battle of Wands/Gladz against Death Corpz/Razors and such.

Close up People/Monsters
That's an incredible picture, Mc_Comix, I love it! The perspective is awesome, and just the whole idea - an extremely powerful knight is seemingly spying on the cat, wow.

Black hole jailbreak!
Oh gosh, Fisher Mark! :D What happened in 2001 is the absolute last thing on Andrew's mind. I highly doubt he considered the black hole. I just think it'd be a funny event. ;)

Black hole jailbreak!
I was recently thinking about the new 'free' teleport, and it's quite interesting. Back in the earliest days of RuneScape, before the wilderness, players would be sent to the 'black hole' instead of being banned. This was just some far off place on the map where players couldn't move and they'd be trapped there forever. Their inventory, of course, would be removed of all teleport runes, so they couldn't leave. The only player that immediately stands out for me is 'Ne,' he was a great fighter of the early days, but macroed and was punished and sent to the hole. My point? Jailbreak! With the new free teleport, couldn't all of these offenders get out? :D That'd be wild. I guarantee none of them play, but if they could be contacted to try it out, that'd be so funny.

It was a long time ago...
It was a long time ago when ... OldMansChild was still able to run through the wilderness and reek havoc. Not that any of you know who that is. :P

Tip.It Times Presents: Cooking: A Skill of its Own
Ah, Dragn, glad you enjoyed that. ;) Really nice article, by the way - I enjoyed reading it. I also agree. The cooking guild is outdated by five and a half years. It was crucial for pre June 2001, and now it's merely there as a relic of the past. While I kind of dig that, it's not the same with these RS2 graphics, so I think revising it would make a lot of sense, having key elements like cows, grain and whatnot right there. The answer would of course be a piece of food that heals 25 hitpoints in one gulp. ;) That'd really bring some hype to cooking. Perhaps it's time for a hamburger or something, beats me. Always nice to see you, Dragn. ;)

Everyone millionaires???
In my opinion, half wines are probably the rarest of all the 'rare' items. Nobody had any reason to keep them - if they had them to begin with, it meant they were drinking them and using them for training. People saved christmas crackers just out of coolness of the holiday drop, and being a unique item. Any half wine that was kept was purely an accident. Most people didn't play back when half wines existed. Back then, it was beyond common and mostly worthless. Think along the lines of a knife, cooked meat, flier, cooking apple, whatever. :) It had absolutely no reason to ever be worth millions. Tons of wines were made every day and then used during training with no thought of it. I think it'd be funny if back in 2001 there was someone who saw in the future, some prophet, who told a tale of how a half wine would one day be worth more money than any item in the game. :P He would have been laughed off the game. It'd be like right now a bronze mace being that item, wow.

wat new monster should come out?
I know this is going to sound crazy, but it might actually work! Get this - a monster that you don't fight, but (keep reading!), instead will teach you how to spell "what." Is that wild or what? It'll actually explain to you that it's spelled as "what," and not "wat." It's a pretty liberal idea, so I don't think it'd fly too well.

Old ones remember, new ones get schooled!

Abbreviations you detest
Ah, Adam, I feel your pain. ;) You've got to love those, eh? Bombing, I'm not necessarily talking about things like 'g2g' and 'lol,' although I can't say I'm fond of them at all - I meant abbreviations almost solely for RuneScape. Like 'wc' or 'unids.' I'm glad to see many people share my dislike of 'plz.' :) Something funny about 'plz,' I don't even read it as 'please!' In my head I read it as 'pulls.' :D That's just how it looks like it'd be pronounced.

Abbreviations you detest
Hello. :) RuneScape abbreviations. They drive me nuts. Is it laziness? Some call it 'slang.' Why must one type 'scimitar' as 'skimmy?' That's just... painful. I'm a fan of the English language. I'm a fan of grammar in general, but that doesn't mean I'm opposed to every single abbreviation or way of typing. Usually as long as it's in good taste it won't bother me. I'll give a 'ttyl' every so often. I enjoy the whole 'pwn3d' thing to an extent. Upon returning to RuneScape after a four year hiatus, it seems there are new abbreviations which have been created for the sole purpose of making me crazy. Not to mention the classic 'plz.' ;) Phat - Phat? Why can't you just type party hat? 'Phat' isn't an abbreviation for party hat, it's a moronic word for 'cool' or 'neat.' When I see 'phat,' I think 'fat.' Not 'party hat.' Buy/Sell - So it seems the new thing is to leave off the suffix of 'ing' when dealing in the market. Stop in at any bank and you will hear 'sel rune pl8 60k,' or perhaps 'buy blk baxe.' Rapture. When did leaving the 'ing' suffix off of buying/selling become acceptable? Do you know what it sounds like when somebody says 'sell lobsters?' It sounds like you're telling me to sell my lobsters. When you say 'buy flax,' you're not informing me that you're buying flax, you're commanding me to buy flax! Ddsp++ - What is this? Hieroglyphics for dragon dagger? Upon returning to the game, it took me several weeks to figure out that 'selling dds' meant 'dragon daggers.' To me, DD always stood for the player DirtyDevil. :P Those are some of the few abbreviations that really get on my nerves. Share some of yours! :D

A chance to remove a random event from the game
When I returned to RuneScape, I'd get the 'Evil Bob Island' one at least twice a day for a few days, it was really strange - I haven't gotten it since. Leo the Gravedigger is a lot of annoying work, I agree. It'd be nice if he gave some prayer experience. It'd make sense and make it worth while. :)

"Karamja" reflections
Howdy. :D I've been playing RuneScape since February '01, since before 'Karamja' was introduced. Playing the game from the opening of Karamja to quitting in August '02, I've always read Karamja as "Karajma." Pronounced as Kur-ahj-muh. And that was that. :) (The 'ahj' pronounced as the 'taj' in 'Taj Mahal.') So, upon returning a month or so ago, I was using a teleport to Karamja, when I laughed to myself seeing it spelled like that, thinking Andrew/Jagex made a typo on the dragonstone amulet, something used by almost every player! :) I checked the forums to confirm, and realized that every place had it as Karamja. Alas, now I can only see it as Karamja. Kuh-ram-juh. Sounds rather harsh, Kuh-raj-muh had some mysterious ring to it. I read that word constantly for a year and a half in 2001-2002 and never once realized it wasn't spelled the way I was pronouncing it, and now randomly I notice and can't stop noticing. Did something change, or did I just wise up? Anybody else have this quandary? :D Just felt like sharing - I find it rather funny.

Question for some old timers :O
Um, no. Those forums were incredible - looking back on them reminds me of what a fun community it was.

~~Newer Bank Of Runescape~~ **Updated again 05/15/09**
I think this is a very well thought out idea, I like it a lot. :) If they did this I think it'd be nice to offer a choice of the current banking system as well, mainly for players who don't like change or players that are just happy with the way things are.

i finnally did it
I've been off since August 2002 'til July 2006. :)
