Because I actually work, I should have to pay a portion of the money I make myself to someone who can't be assed to work on their own? Yup, that's real fair. That's not what I'm saying. Stop twisting my words because you look like an idiot. It is not about people who cannot be bothered to find work. As far as I'm concerned, people who have no intentions of finding work and would rather sit around all day and do nothing don't deserve the higher level of benefits and should only receive basics to live off. Maybe having such a low quality of life as a result may tempt them somewhat into changing their minds. That's not practical though. How on Earth do you differentiate between someone who doesn't want to work, and someone who does but simply cannot find work? You either give benefits, unfortunetely, to people who contribute little to society, or you take those benefits away from someone who does actually deserve them for trying to contribute but is unable to. The American answer to this seems to be to find imaginary labour from nowhere. Not good enough in a country which prides itself so much on how it looks after its own people. Sorry, you're accusing me of giving 'stolen' money to people who haven't earned it, and you have a problem with the state taking such a huge slice of inheritance? Talk about hypocrisy! And about inheritance, who says you have a right to just give large sums of money away to one person? If you look at the law, you'd find that you're not actually allowed to without giving something to the taxman. There's damn good reasons for that which don't involve socialism or anything of the sort too

Well considering the Theory of Evolution was the first example of the scientific method in practice... Let's look at the conditions for the scientific method, shall we? [hide=]1) Evidence must be: a) Observable B) empirical c) measurable 2) Data must be collected through: a) Observation B) Experimentation 3) Inquiry: a) Follows a clear order: Collect data first -> hypothesis based on data later. B) Is objective, not subjective c) Aims to reduce any biased interpretation d) (and methodology) Must be documented and archived for other researchers to examine, scrutinise and reproduce the results gained.[/hide] How does the Theory of Evolution not fit in with those conditions?

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
"Love" is more than two people getting randy with each other, as anyone who's been in a relationship for more than 3 hours will tell you. Have your parents never had a row? As deloria says, don't give advice without any knowledge on the subject matter.

Why teach Creationism in a science room? Can someone please explain to me how Creationism fits in with the scientific method?

Oh [bleep], how can I ever come back from this argument? Why are people attempting to argue socialism doesn't work because it makes people poorer than capitalism does? Has any respected socialist ever even tried to argue it makes more money than capitalism? Socialism isn't even about equality or egalitarianism. It is quite literally the opposition to the middle classes exploiting the working classes in the knowledge they have to work somewhere in order to sustain a living. Taking money from those who are never going to use it, and spending on welfare for those who can't afford security because of the way capitalism works (permanent unemployment, low wages) is not unfair. It is a way of making sure every person in a nation received the basic support they need. If they weren't unemployed in the first place, and there was a shortage of labour, their workers would hold them to ransom for that money instead.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
I have my reasons and maybe I am homophobic, but meh, it doesn't bother me. I've been raised anti-homo and that's how I'll continue to carry on with my life. If someone can show me proof that two men can NATURALLY produce a child, then I'll start showing some respect to gay people. Whats the need of reproducing? It's not like the human race is going to end because of some gay couples. THERE ARE ALREADY 6,720,000,000 PEOPLE IN THIS PLANET. Stop saying "its wrong because they cant produce a child naturally". That's not a valid argument. Hows it not a valid arguement? If everyone was gay there would be 0 people on this planet... I'm not against gays, I'm just saying. It's not a valid argument because it's obvious the whole earth population isn't gay. [/hide] Not really what I meant, I was trying to say that the arguement that being gay is wrong because they can't reproduce can't be put aside as an invalid arguement just because of the number of people in this world. No matter how stupid I think that arguement is. It is an invalid argument though. By that same logic, being castrated is "wrong". Being physically unable to carry a child is "wrong". Having some sort of condition that makes you infertile or otherwise unable to have children is "wrong". Being too old is "wrong". I'm sure even those against homosexuality would agree those other four groups are not wrong. They're just physical conditions which can't be controlled, except obviously the first.

The whole Iraq War thing is hugely subjective anyway, and there's no real consensus on either end of the political spectrum. Interventionism isn't bad so long as it's justified, and I think it's plain to see that attacking Iraq was not justified, especially the way that the case for war was presented to the public (re: 45 minute claim). The way we behaved afterwards hasn't covered us in glory either. Allowing Saddam to be executed after a "fair" trial everyone knew the result of before it had even begun. Destroying the nation's infrastructure, meaning many were left without power or water. Aggressively pursuing terrorists inside the country with little empathy for the civilians caught in the middle. If you asked me whether I supported troops going into Zimbabwe on the agreement of the UN though, I'd say yes. Same with the Sudan conflict. There are thousands of innocent civilians being killed in those areas for no apparent reason other than they're in the middle of the crossfire. It's disgusting, and for Mugabe to sit there and claim he's a Marxist would be like Hitler claiming he's a social conservative.

It's like the old "I'm not racist, my best friend's black" line.

what do u do for fun?
Stab people. Heh. I used to randomly run into the wilderness with nothing more than a DDP++, put on Protect Item and spec PK pures just to wind them up. That was fun. I suppose I could do that now - oh wait, they even took that out...

Mass-Pming Update:3.0.3 includes all the features speculated
To be perfectly blunt, wikis or webpages with comment boxes/sticky pads are must better for organising mass-participation than emails (PMs), since everyone can see all the information being transferred. You can read that as this: I see no need for mass-PMing.

What's you're political Idoligy
Do I really have to explain the ideologies I follow? I'm pretty sure all Americans are fairly indoctrinated on why it's so evil and wrong anyway, and they do make up about 70% of this site's community.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Sounds to me like she's someone whose social life mainly consists of getting quick thrills off people around her, and moving on to the next person. Such people are inexplicably insecure about themselves, so it wouldn't surprise me if she tries the "I feel so bad about myself and I need someone to tell me how great I am" card. If you're fine with that, go ahead. The fact you're only half-interested might make it easier when it inevitably breaks apart. I wouldn't recommend it of course, but it's up to you. Since you seem so adamant not to go along with this ( ), I'll give my advice. As for silencing them, find something else that occupies your mind. Something like sport which requires constant focus and concentration. Music's a bad idea, since it's so implicit by its nature it will just remind you of her. Hanging around with friends is a good idea, so long as they don't bring her up in conversation. Just anything away from her that keeps you happy and occupied. Maybe you'll even find someone else and this girl will just become a distant memory. Or you could try castration. Not sure that would work, but if all else fails, needs must...

what do u do for fun?
As somebody else said, just quit if you're getting bored. It's much better to quit now, and spend £30 (or whatever) on a quality game made by a recognised company that'll keep you entertained for at least a month, rather than carry on playing this vaguely interconnected glued-up-together mess of a game. Don't get hooked into thinking you have to carry on to remain competitive. As for RS itself, I used to play Castle Wars. In fact, that, quests and PC were my only outlets of "fun". I used to play CW for hours on end every Friday and Saturday. Then they nerfed PC (not that I minded, but it meant no one else played any more), I finished all the quests, and they made special CW worlds where overpowered Ancients ruined the game. Not much fun any more. I could have gone monster hunting, but didn't have the equipment, the skills or the time. I could have trained combat for money to afford the equipment, but combat is so ridiculously mind-numbing in RS I couldn't be bothered (Get slayer task -> bank -> do slayer task -> bank -> get slayer task -> bank zZz). That's really where the fun ended, along with my RS subscription.

Marijuana, why isn't it legalized?
I'd have to disagree. It isn't the result of a movement from above (the government and the Church), but rather what would be the result from below if a politician actually dared to say, "I support the decriminalisation of weed". They'd be called irresponsible gang-lovers by the social conservatives. The fact of the matter is drugs have been a social taboo for several centuries, and the number of people in support of their decriminalisation hasn't changed much at all over the years. Tobacco doesn't have the same anxiety associated with it. Medically, you can argue it doesn't damage the body as much as tobacco; philosophically you can argue it's a fundamental human right for someone to put whatever they like into their body; logistically you can argue that making drugs legal would lead to safety because of policing payed for with excessive taxation, but until that taboo is broken, there's no chance of drugs being decriminalised any time soon.

Different.
Am I different? Yes. I'd rather die than follow popular culture or societal norms aimlessly. It sounds so boring. When I did a Myers-Briggs test a while ago, the site claimed only 1.5% of men have the same personality type as me according to the test. Only 2.5% of females have it. Only one other person in my whole year at high school would probably have had the same personality type as me. That made me go "wow". I can never focus as well as other people. I always have a tendency to drift off and day dream for a while before snapping myself back into reality. Careful with the objectivity of that statement. Some people may like to be different but a lot of people also like to feel secure by abiding by the social norms and not making themselves noticeable in public. We have whole newspapers now who gain their support from populism. Market research is aimed at seeking a mainstream audience. Most music is deliberately structured to appeal to people right in the middle of the social bell curve.
