  1. To follow up on Aussie's screenie (not 999's). 198 Dagannoth task done in 11 minutes at a rate of 18 Dagannoth per minute. Rock barrage effectively mops up the ones that survive with minimal health remaining.
  2. It's probably an acceptance that agility is tediously boring to train alone and you can't talk in a FC or CC because of the constant attention required. Generally, most things are more bearable when done in groups. Plus you can race each other for mild amusement.
  3. If you've got a decent crush weapon and the slayer level for it, I've found Nechraeyls are a fantastic melee slayer task. Fast kills, can stay there indefinitely with a bunyip, relatively good crimson charm droppers, occasionally drop the odd rune boots to cover costs. At 83 Slayer they're my best melee task XP/hr wise apart from Desert Strykewyrms which can't be attacked outside of task anyway.

But that's why you do YYYY-MM-DD. 'Muricans are happy coz their months are before their days so they can carry on in blissful mathematical ignorance, and everyone else is happy because it follows a logical order of high to low.
  5. Petition groups which lack any perspective other than their own self-indulgent view of the world. Video gaming at the Olympics? It's time to get real.
  6. Hard to take you seriously when every single one of those was a good update, even long-term considered. It's not like adding Nex gear removed any existing training options from the game. I'd be willing to bet more people quit over removing free trade / SoF than those things combined. Maybe some of them come back eventually but things like that really hurt the popularity of the game. From personal experience from "real life" people I know who played RuneScape and quit when they got to level 70-something, the most frequent complaint I observed was the general unwillingness of people to 'grind' their way up. Given a choice between spending hours sat at a computer screen getting one level after another, they'd rather play something else. If Jagex opened the doors to RWT completely and made a very clear transaction between real money spent and XP in-game received (although some argue such transactions still exist now, it's not made clear and certainly not advertised as such), it would be very appealing to those people who just want to do all the stuff maxed players can do, without the half-of-your-childhood journey to get there. I don't support RWT necessarily, I'm just saying that it's not entirely discursive to only mention the people that quit because of SoF. Grinding on the other hand, and this links with the skillcapes, remains an incredibly unpopular feature of the game amongst people who don't play it. You might reflect on that and say, "[bleep] them, this game isn't their thing", but that is a problem for Jagex, as it would be a problem for any successful company in their position.
  7. Subscriptions are irrelevant. There would still be Solomon's store if RuneScape had the same number of players as WoW. The fact is that the video games industry, in contrast to many sectors because of the current economic situation we all find ourselves in, is one of few industries which has continued to grow in the past few years, and therefore companies in this industry also need to be growing in tough times and investing into products to sell to costumers in order to survive. Solomon's store is simply one of the many facets Jagex use to bring turnover into the company through its signature product so that it can achieve this aim. It's not reasonable to conclude that because Solomon's store exists, RuneScape subscriptions (or rather, lack of them) are placing Jagex in jeopardy.
  8. The quote seems to allude to cosmetic differences rather than anything else, and when you look at Solomon's, that's largely what it's about. Adding extra slots in PoP would be akin to saying "Here's another cake" metaphorically.
  9. SoF being a wholly automated and random payout. Not exactly a direct transaction between real money and in-game experience; in fact, nowhere near it.
  10. I disagree. Extra binds in DG? Removing the limits on dailies/weeklies? They could've used RWT in all of these already and haven't done so. There's no reason to suggest that policy will change, even if the opportunity is clearly there.
  11. You can play the minigame. You just have to wait a bit for all the content to be available. You're acting like multi-staged release of new content is somehow weird in the video games industry, and I'm not sure why.
  12. Otherwise people would probably grind for a week and get to the good stuff ... Which has happened all too often in RuneScape's past and has led to good content being essentially dead far too prematurely. I know some people will complain and say "Let us get on with it" but it's a good idea to limit content like this so it carries on over a long-term basis.
  13. Aberrant spectres are now being botted en masse. The XP was already rubbish so I'm putting them on my blocked list next time I get assigned them. I'm not really sure why they're being botted, though: [hide][/hide] Also, Equenox is apparently male.

My use of British date formatting almost led me to question where the thirteenth month was coming from there... :-s Why can't we all get along and use YYYY-MM-DD?!
  15. It's a good thought from the developers to make Meg's adventures and the area itself accessible to people who can't launch ships due to not having the high skill requirements. I don't think any low or mid-leveled player can sincerely argue that they feel left out of this update, and giving access to the area whets the appetite for those who feel ambitious enough to go for it. It's a worthwhile but subtle touch.
  16. Yeah, I've found that experience living in halls where the vast majority of people are 18 and therefore only recently passed the legal age to drink in the UK. I've been to house parties where their sole aim has been to get as drunk as possible in as short a space a time as possible. When you get to your early/mid twenties, getting drunk is still fun, but it's a case of "been there, done that, got the t-shirt", and it's really unattractive to see in the girls who vomit, fall over, fall out with each other and throw themselves at the nearest guy who'll take them. The whole drinking thing definitely becomes a more social thing as you grow older, rather than just getting pissed for the hell of it as a group of loosely affiliated people (i.e. a house party). These days I'll drink fairly quickly at the start to get "woozy" like Kaida said, and then do the 'every other soft drink' thing just to keep myself at that level without going overboard. And honestly, I have a better time because of it. I don't get sick, I don't usually get a hangover, I feel happier and more sociable.
  17. If you're drinking to that point, you're overdoing it and you need to pull back on how much you're taking. That's really the tell-tale sign of addiction. I'm not saying you're compulsively addicted but I am saying it's something you should be aware of. As me and several others have already told you in another thread, you've already proven you don't need to get drunk all the time.
  18. Several points following the EoC update: The crumble undead spell is no longer required. You simply step over a pile of bones now. The boneguard no longer attacks you before asking for help. I'm guessing this is because Protect from Melee no longer fully blocks out damage. But you can simply talk to him and he'll ask for help in repairing the wall between itself and Enakhra now. Chaos runes are no longer needed because offensive magic spells no longer require them. Tools in the toolbelt can be used to complete quest objectives. You can chisel the wall using the toolbelt's chisel, for example. Same for the tinderbox and the braziers. The advice about the Camulet being a quick teleport to the Ancient Magiks altar may no longer be appropriate, given the lodestone in Bandit Camp may actually be quicker. This advice might also apply to the Cramulet obtained in Do No Evil. Quest length isn't that long, to be honest. It's been a good five years since I was on the Crew so I can't remember how length is determined but it's a fairly short quest rather than 'medium'.
  19. 1) How is it illogical? 2) Timeline was an opt-in feature iirc. Activated mine a while ago.
  20. Hmm... yeah take bolts for Akrisae, of course, but given you have a fair amount of inventory space left over, is there any reason not to take a crystal/zaryte bow for Ahrim? Ahrim barely hits at all now so it's not an issue of survivability, it's more about getting kills done faster and therefore each run faster because of the same style accuracy boost. Zaryte would be an expensive overkill but crystal bows are very affordable now.
  21. What's the most memorable place you ever delivered pizza to? I mean, was there any weird stuff you saw?
  22. Tried using this guide at Barrows today and honestly, it does work pretty effectively without using expensive equipment so long as you have access to high levelled elemental spells. Just a couple of points though: I'm doing all four melee brothers first before going to Karil then Ahrim. I've not done ROTM so Akrisae's not a consideration for me personally. In your guide you say go to Karil before Torag--why? Surely it makes more sense to build up adrenaline from Verac -> Dharok -> Guthan and then Torag straight after whilst still on the mage setup, than changing your class halfway through for Karil, and then back again for Torag. On the order of mage abilities: Check Sarco -> Impact -> sidestep. Completely agreed, vitally important with Dharok of course. I'm 99 Magic in Ganos/SoL and I've found Dragonbreath about as useful as a chocolate furnace. Considering the brothers will probably survive the duration of one Impact (hence the need to Asphyx after), even if it hits hard, you can't get away with missing all the time because of its awful accuracy. Better to just go with another Wrack and dish out what's almost always an extra ~1K damage. If you Impact -> sidestep straight away, you'll get five auto-synced basic abilities away before the bind goes. Therefore, I've found that this works well and usually kills the melee brothers before they have a chance to hit*: [sarco] -> Impact -> [sidestep] -> Wrack -> Wrack -> Wrack -> Wrack -> Combust -> [bind from Impact goes] -> Asphyxiate -> Impact -> Sidestep (etc.). If there's a delay in sidestepping, you'll only get four auto-synced abilities away, so for the last Wrack, instead of waiting for the auto attack to go with Combust, just go Wrack -> Combust -> Asphyxiate as quickly as you can. Asphyxiate should land (and therefore stun) before Impact's bind runs out. * - The abilities were auto-synced as you described in this guide, except for Asphyxiate, which was done immediately after an auto-synced Combust attack.
  23. I went back home last weekend for five days because we had no classes. I'm in halls of residence sharing with four others. I returned last night, and I've noticed some things are missing. My orange squash concentrate was out of the cupboard half empty, and my cereal was all gone. Now I've tried to cook this evening, and my bowl, measuring jug, tea towel and my only glass have vanished, and also my saucepan was left dirty in the sink. They've obviously been stolen, my room is pretty much spotless and they're not in here. My mate, another housemate, has noticed his food and beer going missing too. So did I before I went home, but I just put it down to forgetfulness at first. Sickening, it really is. If I find out who's doing it, I'll have the relevant authorities come down on them like a tonne of bricks.

Searched for Die Young by Ke$ha on YouTube, and the first advert that appeared was about alcohol awareness. Smiled at the irony.
  25. We know that Hollywood tends to blow things completely out of proportion anyway, be it sex, violence, politics, drug abuse... you name it, and to be honest, films aren't that popular with the general population, so maybe it's not the best standard to judge the rest of our society on.
