Is there such a thing as 'dry worlds'?
compfreak847 replied to Joskeuhtje1's topic in General Discussion
That's my point. It's the simplest possible explanation, and what I assumed was used long before the god letter was published :-k -

You can't just add drops onto a monster when it has ROW, and take them off when it doesn't - the number has to remain the same. Bump up the lowest number by two, and the highest numbers have the same chance. Any other explanation (this invalid one included) would be far more complex then the usual 'standard' and 'rare' drop tables. -

If that was the case, we'd never see the bottom two drops. There's only one simple way for the ROW to work, and I didn't find their method of watering it down so the kiddies could get a probability lesson very helpful :-# -

We already knew that with the introduction of the ROW. "Rare" drops have always been treated specially as a separate category of their own. -

Doesn't look like a scam to me. Not sure why they didn't announce this, though... -

The two wheel thing was a simple analogy for how all random number probability systems work. All it tells us is that it isn't a monkey pressing buttons, and that it is indeed a standard random number generation method - further supporting my idea of 'simplest is best, especially when there's no evidence otherwise'. -

That's lightning, a physical phenomenon not a mathematical concept. In probability, the previous and future drops have no effect whatsoever on the current drop. There is less chance of getting a drop after a previous drop than after 100 drops. There is more chance getting a drop after 50 attempts than 25 but less than 100. The chance increases each time. Its random but its chance of happening will increase. I pretty certain if a survey of this was done that they would discover more drops happened after 20 than 10. More after 10 than 5. I know those results from other rare drops. The results will show a favour towards it happening later than sooner - as each kill occurs as the more attempts the greater the likelihood. The fact each kill individually has the same chance is irrelevant when your doing 100 kills. You have to factor in any previous kills you or others have done for it happening on that world. Put it all together mathematically and you created higher and lower odds of a drop occurring. Creating drier and wetter worlds. Not true at all. In mathematical randomness, the probability never changes regardless of the previous or future drops. Plus, no one really has a clue - it would take 100s of hilts to ascertain any sort of a pattern. Therefore, the most logical explanation is best, and thinking that Jagex purposely programs certain worlds 'drier' and 'wetter' without an iota of proof certainly isn't the simplest. -
Could you tell me, again, what about eugenics deals with losing RS pixels, and how your biased, unintelligent stereotypes make for an insult or argument? I'm afraid you forgot to include that in your post. So much for avoiding the topic. Nice attempt at coping out of an argument you've already lost.

Not likely, if the reward is only clothing very few people would participate and it wouldn't affect the population. Plus it would still mean you get nothing unless you have a friend kicking the whole way, but since the reward is only clothing that very few people would even bother to get, it's not as big of an issue. I wouldn't see the point in wasting Jagex's time on an update that would be used by virtually no one. Let them focus on updates that many people play, not one that fades into the background like trekking.

Then you entered it on an insecure computer, or your lying. Sorry, but Jagex servers are safe. It's 100% your fault if you get hacked. A toggle feature that everyone turns off because it does nothing whatsoever to help security and is a huge pain in the tush. It might be a good idea to at least have an iota of a clue what your talking about before posting a suggestion. Read your post reallll carefully. Also, it's very simple. Have it watch in the back recording the area within a certain pixel distance of the mouse in a very low quality mode, simply buffering the past second or two into memory. Uses virtually no CPU cycles and is undetectable, upon mouseover of the specific color it would immediately dump the past second or two onto disk where it could be uploaded just like a regular screen cache. Hackers aren't idiots.

Not sure, he was either insulting himself for using eugenics from a book or trying to make fun of me in an obscure and anti-intellectual way from another unrelated, old, and locked thread. That being said, it was still flaming :?

Except that the two words were the point of your topic, and the actual definitions of them in no way whatsoever applied to the topic, making it pure spam and not worth replying to. Your welcome to leave, but it would be a 4 post debate, not 6 pages. =D>

My IP changes every couple of hours. That would be unbelievably annoying, as well as switching every time I switch from work to home 4+ times per day. Terrible idea. Giving away other users IPs would be not only illegal but very dangerous. Someone makes a typo on the name, you could get their IP by creating an account with a similar name. They can already see the IP, they don't need to reveal it to you. Plus, that's illegal in most countries. Even worse idea. Ah. So to defeat the evil keyloggers, we type in our pins. Brilliant! Why didn't Jagex come up with these genius ideas? That being said, even clicking to enter your pin would be a very bad idea. All the keylogger has to do is program it to capture the screen a fraction of a second before the mouse hovers over whatever color the keys are, and he has your number with no fuss and no muss. Not to mention it would be a huge hassle. Don't make your recover questions obvious, and don't download stupid stuff on an unprotected computer. Follow those directions and you'll never get hacked. And your draconian 'ideas' would make it much more of a hassle while at most slightly inconveniencing the hacker.

Immature: Thinking and responding in a manner which indicates short sightedness and lack of understanding for long term consequences. Flaming: To insult or criticize angrily (Generally over the computer or another electronic medium). Neither of those have anything to do with the subject at hand, so I can only assume you threw then out as generic insults without knowing what they meant. That would count as inadvertent flaming (while bringing up an interesting circle of stupidity), but unless it was secretly ironic I doubt it was intentional.

I've gotten back to back chests and 3 hilts in 1 trip at 1 world at bandos. It's all in their head, it's their brain trying to make a pattern where there is none. -
Best counter argument to it. Not really, considering Money is RL and pixels are computer. Unless you can't tell the differnce between Real Life and Pixels. That's the only reason I see this "argument" actually working. -.- I have to question if you even know what paper money is or what it represents. Paper money takes time to accumulate. You don't just walk into the world and have $1 billion dollars thrown on your lap (unless you inherit, but that's rare). Paper money represents the amount of time you have spent working. Pixels on the computer take time to accumulate. You don't just walk into the RuneScape and have 5 partyhat sets and 10 of every godsword thrown on your lap (unless you go to the Party Room, but that's rare). Pixels represent the amount of time you have spent working. ROFL. My point is that you guys are comparing runescape to real life. Unless you can't tell the differnce to the point where runescape IS your life, suck it up and move on. Both occupy time, and therefore both represent real time. One (rl) is worth a lot more and is a lot more important than the other (rs), but both are different worths of the same thing. It's like you saying, oh look, I spent 1 hour working and I got 5 euros, and the next hour a different guy only gave me 3 dollars. The dollars are worth so much less, so I don't care about them at all. Time is the bridging factor, unless you would like to say that time is not real. But then that's a whole different debate. I get the feeling that curling is one of those immature flamers who will try to endlessly insult us with 'wow u m ust be a nerd if u cant tell the difference'. Truth is, the only quantifiable measure besides profit (end outcome) is time invested and enjoyment obtained - both factors influencing RS. Unless we're playing in a black hole, we can assume time is one dimensional and can be measured, even if it's only through our interpretation. Therefore, they are really very similar.

Not a chance. Whip + DFS fails ubierly. I've gotten 5 kills with a war tortise with whip + defender, and I average at least 3. How many trips have you done with whip + defender? I've only done around 3k kills with whip + defender, another 500-600 with a shield (fails epically) and 6k with a godsword, and the order is: Whip>GS>Whip + DFS.
-
And it's also going to much less frequently hit a two. Hits cluster around the center, your average damage is the same.
-
Low level would get nerfed, high level would get a small boost, PTP would get a massive nerf. Since you are a low level FTP, initially it would be bad for you, but it would give you something to work for. As a high level PTP, it would be bad for me but good for the game overall as a balancing act.
-
They would be helpful, but they better nerf the low level spells drastically first.
-
LOL. Funny. No.
-
Why not? Every company puts out marketing BS, this isn't something unique to Jagex. Possible, they might up the requirements of current spells and add a few higher level ones. They're smart enough that the only update to PTP magic would be a nerf, which it certainly needs.

Gonna go with yes, as it's measure in hours.
