  1. Getting one party hat is now harder than getting some skills to 99. In my eyes even the cheapest party hat is a bigger accomplishment than 99cooking+fletching+melee skills are together. It requires either balls of steel to get that money through staking, hundreds of hours of solid work on boring skills or the ability to sell and buy at right times&places. I personally hate it when people tend to give higher value on stuff that has gotten without buying raw materials. It's true that it's harder to mine your own ores than buy bars, but the result is same: you do the skill in a way you feel that fits for you. Everyone has the possibility to do it in an easier way and I don't see a reason why to value someone's 99 cooking more just because he has been catching shrimps for 2 years nonstop or someone's 99 smithing after he has been mining tin&copper for 5 years with his precious bronze pickaxe. It's about choices. You also mentioned the fact that some people actually never paid a thing or risked anything to get their rares. That's true, but you forget the fact that no one in 2001 believed party hats would ever be worth over 100k. In 2003 no one belived they would ever be over 100 million. It's about choices and if someone has been wise enough to keep his rares, it's not away from us. I personally hate it how honest merchants are getting bashed by people who aren't into that stuff. It's their own choice to play the game like that and without merchanters we'd have painful times buying our raw materials for the skills we want or then getting rid of the goods we've gotten from the skilling project. I personally rather pay 50gp more per gold ore if I can buy 50k of them at once instead of wasting days more in buying them in the amounts of 100s or even worse, mining by myself.
  2. That's the basic idea of bruteforcing, nothing new on that :P
  3. The info we got says it's on every world, so I assume it's f2p too. It won't be completely wiped out, but it will change. People will still try to find cheap deals from the streets and their contacts in order to create profit. I don't agree with this. This new system will make selling unwanted ending productions easier than it's now, so stuff like gold ores, certain herbs&seconds and maybe even jewelry will be worthier to be made. This inceases their demand and thus affects to the prices of their materials. Let's take gold bars for example here as they are the things I've been doing for past months. Smelting gold with gauntlets is ok xp, it's not too expensive and it requires pretty much no work. 50k/h isn't bad when compared to cannonballs (15k/h), you lose less money on it than on other metals and it requires less work than smithing steel bars. However gold ores aren't smelted as much as they could be: the ending productions are painful to sell. With this update selling gold bars will become easier as contacting the potential buyers increases exponentally. This makes gold more attractive and might rise the ore prices by 50-200gp per at tops. In a larger scale this kind of underprice sellers won't affect a lot. First of all, they will only be too small minority. Second, with the ability to train while your items are being sold there for hundreds of thousands of people and with the more stable prices+larger supply less surprises should come, I don't really see a reason for quick cash.
  4. So, during this month (maybe next week), Jagex will give us an update we've been asking for years: grand exchange. With this update you can put your items into a "flea market" and train while they are being sold. I've been thinking the positive and negative sides of this update for a while and came up with the following: * Certain hard to sell items, such as gold bars, will be easier to sell: you can offer them for everyone and anyone who has a need for maybe just a few, will instantly find them. If we take a closer look up on gold bars, this leads into a situation where it becomes easier to get rid of unwanted ending productions. Because of this, smelting gold will become a better way to train smithing and might affect to the gold ore prices. Same goes with stuff like fish, jewelry, certain smithables and so on. * With this update, people who have the habit of mass producing goods will get more time for that: in future we might see more dirty rich people who have gotten their wealth from collecting items: now the time formula for getting money is (trained time + sold items = money/H) but after the update it will turn out to be just (trained time = money/h). For example miners, hunters, fishers, herblorists and woodcutters can now concentrate fully on training and don't need to waste time on selling the items. * Merchants will now have harder times to buy massive amounts of goods for a cheaper price as with this update, people who sell stuff have in theory over 100k buyers at once instead of one. I personally assume that merchanting will change into a more rare item concerned thing as the supply of discontinued items won't rise with this. * As expensive discontinued item (phats, crackers, half wines, maybe even masks) supply won't really rise (if you got an unneeded rare at the moment, you will sell it a lot easier than you will for example 100k unwanted gold bars) but more people are gaining wealth from this update, I assume there will be a jump in rare item prices. Maybe not next week, but within months when people have managed to sell their unwanted hard-to-sell items and gotten more training time. * With the bigger markets and more theoretical customers&competitors, the prices of raw materials, armours and other non-discontinued items will stabilize even more. With this update you won't be able to get extra high prices anymore for your goods as the potential buyers have more alternatives to choose from. However this works backwards too: your competitors can't try to knock you out by reducing prices as there's so many potential buyers. If he reduces his prices enough, his items won't be at the markets for long competing against yours but there will still be potential buyers. * Currently there's a little gab between f2p and p2p prices as the people with money are mainly in p2p and the raw material produces are in f2p. This can be noticed when jumping between crowded non-merchant works between f2p and p2p and comparing yew log, ore or nature rune prices for example. With this update the markets will be the same for everyone, so I assume this gab will vanish. The main question is that is this a good update? In my eyes it's certainly what this game needs. It takes away the boring part of skilling (buying and selling), it stabilizes prices and if done well, it also reduces scamming. It also takes away the gab between f2p and p2p prices as now the markets will be the same for everyone.

  7. The principal was a woman. The latest nick got deleted some hours ago. His earlier account got banned from that site. [hide=His old Youtube bio. Removed some hours ago] aka NaturalSelector89 (3/15/2007 - 10/19/2007). YouTube suspended my previous account but I am back now :) My new account name is German and means "Stormspirit" in English. Name: Eric Age: 18 Male from Finland. I am a cynical existentialist, antihuman humanist, antisocial socialdarwinist, realistic idealist and godlike atheist. SOCIETY: Revolutions will come, governments will collapse, manipulative mafia & idiocratic rule of majority will be replaced with freedom and justice. My utopia: Weak-minded people as slaves, intelligent people as free. What I mean is that they who think deep political & philosophical issues, and are capable of intelligent existential thinking, should be free and rulers... and the weak-minded masses / robots, they can be slaves since they do not mind it now either and because their minds are on so [developmentally delayed]ed level. The gangsters that now rule societies, will get what they deserve. Realistic views: Hate... Im so full of it and I love it. That is one thing I really love. It is almost impossible to change the system. The faster human race is wiped out from this planet, the better... no one should be left alive. No mercy for the scum of earth. [bleep] political correctness, [bleep] equality, [bleep] tolerance and [bleep] democracy... ...and what is democracy anyway? Dictatorship of the moral majority which is manipulated by the state mafia. Modern western democracy has nothing to do with freedom or justice; it is totalitarian and corrupted system. Long live the REVOLUTION against the system, which enslaves not only the weak-minded [developmentally delayed]s but also the small minority of intelligent and strong-minded people. LIFE: Life is just a coincidence... result of long process of evolution and many several factors, causes and effects. However, life is also something that an individual wants and determines it to be. And I... I'm the dictator of my own life. What is the best thing in life? It ends. Well I guess there are some other great things, worth living for, but sometimes you lose them or don't get them. Today the process of natural selection is totally misguided. Modern human race has not only betrayed its ancestors, but the future generations too. It's time to put NATURAL SELECTION & SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST back on tracks! RELIGION: Religious people, your gods are nothing and exists only in your heads. Your slave morals means nothing to me. I'm the god & devil of my own life. Evolution is both a theory and a fact, creationism is neither one. If hell and heaven really existed... all the interesting people would go to hell! PHILOSOPHY: HUMANITY IS OVERRATED! Human life is not sacred. Humans are just a species among other animals and world does not exist only for humans. Death is not a tragedy, it happens in nature all the time between all species. Not all human lives are important or worth saving. Sometimes I feel like no one is really worth of life at all. Due to long process of existential thinking, observing the society I live and some other things happened in my life... I have come to the point where I feel nothing but hate against humanity and human race. There are no other universal laws than the laws of nature and the laws of physics. Trust no one... and rely on your instincts. I am the law, judge and executioner. There is no higher authority than me. Justice renders to everyone his due. 8. Was on last week when I talked with him and still 30 secs ago didn't appear a hiscores.
  9. Anyone who knew anything about this game back in then should know that Maniac666 wasn't anywere close being the first one to 99 str. It also makes me laugh how you are telling Fook that some "oldskool" could teach him. He's after all older than 99,9% people on these forums or in this whole damn game. To be honest Maniac wasn't even in top 10 hp when it required 95hp and Zonghui already was 122 combat. Btw I'm still in touch with the original Maniac (at later part of his "career" there was some sharing and the char is now banned) and even he himself doesn't claim anything ridicilous like that.
  10. This would cause a need to either check every site or to thread different sites in a different way. Imagine what kind of a riot it would cause if player X got banned for advertising TIF while his friend Y didn't for advertising RSC. In my eyes this current way of stating it is the easiest for all parties: now we know exactly that sites (rs.com) we can advertise and what we can't (rest). I've also been thinking of a juridical reason for this rule. If someone got keylogged and lost for example his internet bank passes because of it, it could cause problems to Jagex. Now when even rules make it clear (and you gotta accept the rules when you join the world of RS) that it's not allowed to advertise sites, everyone should always have their bells ringing when they see some site being spammed out.
  11. Trading 37k free gold bars to free 5180k :o
  12. 29.10.2007 Back in action now. Wicked gig at saturday, got to home at around 5:30 even tho had a car (and a driver) waiting just out of the gig place. Sunday of course was something like between hangover and still being drunk. Oh well was a good practice for my liver as I got a rought week coming... Anyways on the proper slacking day I trained a bit hunter and other skills that are still relatively low. Not like I would have leveled or anything, but gotta prepare for the stuff after 99 smith...
  13. Combat Level: 126 Total Level: 2115 Highest Skill Level: 10 skills at 99 Highest Combat Skill Level: all 99 Knowledge of the Game (see below): 16 - Andrew says Hi to me.
  14. We've been able to pay by PayPal for longer than RS2 has existed. This brings nothing new on that field and only a complete idiot would turn it into PayPal only. Second, they hired a person who has worked for PayPal, not take over PayPal.
  15. 26.10.2007 So got 96 today like I had predicted. Would have gotten it last night, but we got a mandatory clan pk so saved it for today. I was eager to see this level coming because of rune kites and finally got it. However I thought it would be a better feeling to get it. The today's gym train could have something to do with it... Gonna slack today and tomorrow I got some bands to see, so probably next time going to level smithing on sunday if my hangover isn't too bad.
  16. I also didn't mention stuff like my mate getting a 3rd age kite from a clue, little pkin, etc :P
  17. 23.10.2007 Yesterday was a slacking day, I tend to take those like once a week or so when I concentrate on 1 skill to avoid burn outs. So, I decided to finally do a Royal Trouble and get myself a cat training medal for Varrock diary. Did the quest in order to be able to gain more resources from my kingdom now when I started using it again. Put some gp on maples (fm materials and bird nests) and on herbs because of my future plans. Today been active on smithing again and broke the 9million xp barrier and got under 30% of xp left to 99. Getting there some day... In theory I could level tomorrow, but probably the day of Thor (thursday) or friday are more realistic. After all I'm a lazy person and got few things to do.
  18. I've personally written many articles from the past for another forums. These are mainly about RSC times, but also a few rs2 ones are there: http://officialzezima.com/board/index.p ... owforum=11 Doesn't require a registration. If this is too much of an advertising, I'm sorry :P
  19. Just because you made it in harder way, it doesn't mean that your 99 cook would be worth more in general than someone else's 99 cook. It might have a bigger personal value to you, but that doesn't make it any harder skill. It's your own choice to do it in a harder way than needed, not anyone else's. Blame yourself for it but don't beg for extra attention. Yes, 99 is a 99, except certain 99s are "worth" a lot more in terms of taking time, cash and actual work on it. Cooking and fletching require almost no work, they are something between low profit to a small amount of cash lost and they are fast. With your logic we should respect bronze medium helmets as much as we respect party hats: after all they both are worn on your head and bronze med actually has better stat bonuses. Giving more respect to certain capes or even levels (I personally value 90 slayer for example more than 99 cook) isn't showing disrespect to some less valuabe capes. In my eyes all the 99=99 talks show more disrespect towards those who have maxed a skill that actually is hard. I've personally hit 99 11 items, once in rsc and 10 times in RS2. I've hit 99 cook and fletch. I know exactly what it takes to actually work on a skill and what it is like to max a skill that is as challenging as cook or fletch. Those both skills are a joke and I give more respect to someone with 90+ slay than 20m+ cook/fletch xp. No matter who has more total xp in a skill, the efford, time and money put into the training is worth more to me.
  20. Finnish name for King's book/Kubrick's movie "the shining". Literal translation would be like "shine".
  21. People commonly write my name as "hotho". Guess that's close enough :ohnoes:
  22. Naw it's a yellow :P Of course I'm beautiful, RSD tried girl power strategy yesterday so I still got my character turned into a woman!
  23. Plan: Smith, smelt and do anything in order to get 99 smith. How? At least until 97 with gold, then dunno how. At least some rune smithing will be done, but also might make some cannonballs for slayer training. I can be found usually from Port Phasmatys (ghost place) furnaces on either world 76, 137 or 138. Situation: Currently got enough gold ores banked for 97 smithing. When I need to buy more smithables, I'll probably work on some skill I haven't maxed yet, sell random stuff (definately not rares tho :P ) and beg at Varrock w95. Milestones: started this blog: 21.10.2007 95 smith: 21.10.2007 9 million xp: 23.10.2007 under 30% left: 23.10.2007 96 smith: 26.10.2007 XP: date-time-xp-percentual amount done 21.10.2007 - 16:15 - 8,777,508 - 67,3% 23.10.2007 - 19.30 - 9,167,930 - 70.3% 27.10.2007 - 13:15 - 9,688,236 - 74.3% Pictures: Admit it, these are the things you want. More will come when I get something worth posting. New items able to smith: rune battleaxe (chain with a stout) new items able to smith: rune chain (kite with a stout) Was a rather easy level actually. Rune kites are something worth smithing and using, so didn't really even have motivation problems. Blog: 21.10.2007 So, today I decided to start this blog. Dunno yet how often will I be able to update it, hopefully often enough to keep you reading it tho. Lately been smelting a lot, hopefully don't get burnt out soon :P Good thing about gold is that you don't have to do a lot by yourself. Oh well 99 smith can't be worse than 99 farm... 23.10.2007 Yesterday was a slacking day, I tend to take those like once a week or so when I concentrate on 1 skill to avoid burn outs. 24. Stable ways (luck plays no or minimal role) * Natures through abyss. Unbelievable money especially after 91 rc. * Rune mining at certain places during non-busy hours Luck plays a big role * High lvl monster drops (kq, mith dragons, godwars bosses, kq, etc) * Staking, at some scale pkin too * Merchanting (this could be also put into a separate category) Basically if you want to make some real cash, you either need to work really hard to have luck on your side. Of course stuff like cutting yews, mining coal and other stuff are ok, but they aren't anything comparable to natures after 91rc or staking at best.
