MechScape is entirely different. FunOrb is a collection of small online Java games. MechScape is an entire new MMORPG.

Actually, I used my stable installation of phpBB hosted on my own machine.

If you would like to make a MOD for phpBB that does that, you are certainly welcome. (I know for a fact that there is not a MOD that does that) Whether it will be used on TIF or not I can't say.

There is such a thing as maintenance. I'm not saying that's what it was- I just didn't see any administrators running around panicking yesterday. I'll see if I can get one to answer here. But seriously, can't the server be down for a bit without users thinking it's a DDoS? We have the 30th biggest phpBB board in the world, it's not a matter of just sitting back and letting it run.

If such was the case, I'm quite sure that Apple wouldn't have included ClamAV as the email virus scanner in OS X server since 10.4 [1]. ClamAV does not, as far as I am aware, only scan for Windows viruses, but is intended to scan for software that acts as a virus, as all good virus scanners should.

If you want to keep your computer secure, never feel secure. Only the ever-paranoid shall prevail.

I thought of doing this myself with my old PIII laptop I've got lying around, completely disassembled. It certainly doesn't work anymore- Never did (Got it for 10)- But I got a better idea of how the inside of a laptop works and a 40GB hard drive which I now use in my PII (366MHz/256Mb) laptop from '98 that's on Ubuntu. Some people talk about their old cars. Heck, I could talk about my old rigs for hours... That sounds like a topic. :-k

I would recommend ClamAV for an antivirus system. ( http://www.clamxav.com/ ) GPL licensed and made for UNIX and UNIX-like OSes like Linux or Mac OS X. In fact, if you're using Mac OS X Server 10.4 or later you already have it.

I am far more fit because of our trampoline, I must say. Get an enclosure. I have no idea how many times that it has, literally, saved my neck.

A simple one is to just dance out of the elevator. Give people a little WTF moment. :D

Really I don't see why I'd get a new username, people know it and the one I want (dsavi) is already taken.

If you can confirm anything from MechScapeWorld, I will gladly post it here.

For computers that do not have DOS, there is of course DOSBox, which even runs on UNIX/UNIX-like systems.

So if we know a "TON" more than this, then why don't you help out and post it? ;)

Thought I'd write a bit about MechScape for those who haven't heard of it before. Not everyone does, actually. Basically, MechScape is another game, possibly coming out in around a year, made by Jagex. From what (we think) we know it is probably a more futuristic game, will use the same gaming engine as RuneScape (And therefore will have similar graphical quality and the same computer requirements) and will be, like RuneScape, a browser-based Java MMORPG. Also, the RuneScape user accounts will be shared with MechScape, like FunOrb. This is a lot bigger than FunOrb, maybe you gathered that already by the way that the Administrators of TIF created a forum for it. As you can see we don't know very much about it, if you have something to add just post. :)

It moves the load away from Tip.it's servers, if we allowed people to host their avatars here it would use more bandwidth. Whether or not that's the reason that the admins haven't turned on that feature I do not know, but it could be.

Flash would definitely not work in DOS, if you didn't know that.
