  1. It seems to me that for such a small calculation only JavaScript would be necessary. I don't know where you would find a text version of the server populations though.
  2. There was quite a large article in Helsingin-Sanomat on 17.5.2009 (page E2). The picture of me playing Pajatzo is rather epic. Then yesterday Taloussanomat had this story http://www.kauppalehti.fi/5/i/talous/uu ... 9/06/23065 . This appeared also in print (like the original HS thing). Overall, a good bit of press, which has given our consulting company a nice amount of work. I neither read nor subscribe to HS :-# . I have a subscription to HBL, however, and I can tell you there wasn't anything in there about it. :P
  3. I agree. I have about 5 t-shirts from the holy store of Primark: £1.50 each Fashion isn't a word that has any meaning to me, I've never gotten into that whole style/fashion/looking good thing most teenage girls do. Speaking of teenage girl kicks, caring about celebrities is another. Looking at magazines and going OMG he's cute. Just caring about appearances really, mine or anyone else's. I really hate the way so many of the girls in my school are so hare-brained. OMG wow Lady Gaga did this or that! Did you hear that [name] is together with [name]? It's so little my or their business I wonder why they even think about it. Sure, I might be interested in my closest friends' relationships (Just what I need to know and nothing more- Who they're together with), but talking about the affairs of someone that doesn't even know you exist seems extremely unnecessary and stupid. Also, when it comes to clothes, there's only one shirt that I ever bought in my life because I thought it looked cool, and that is The mightiest roar (The linked design on a t-shirt) by DementedHero of these forums. And gossip. What on earth. :-s There are a few country songs I like, I find it a lot better than any form of rap/metal. Also, reverse country for the win: Your truck gets fixed and your barn gets rebuilt, your wife/girlfriend comes back from the dead or comes back to you after breaking up with/divorcing you and your livestock becomes healthy again.
  4. Chrome is a minimalist browser that's only advantage is a small bit of unnoticeable speed. Safari doesn't work well on windows, it's a privacy nightmare and it's buggy. Firefox uses a huge ammount of memory, it's extremely unstable with addons and it is very featureless without addons. Opera has a huge amount of features, exelent stability and low memory usage built in all with nice js speed(second to webkit, which was made specifically to beat the tests) and the best security. It also needs no addons. Chrome is by no means minimalist, it's just nobody has written extensions for it yet. Its advantages are a huge increase in speed, decrease in footprint, and its groundbreaking JavaScript engine. Safari works great on Windows, although I would never use it as my main browser due to lack of extensions and the fact that it isn't entirely open source. Its privacy is absolutely fine and it is very stable. Firefox uses a reasonable amount of memory, it's very stable with or without addons and even if it was featureless without addons, that would not be a flaw. tl;dr: [citation needed] Also: Just did a sunspider Javascript benchmark with Firefox 3.0.10 and the earliest version of Chrome for Linux (Which has a lot newer JavaScript engine, so it isn't entirely fair) and in every single test Chrome was significantly better than FF, according to the sunspider comparison.
  5. Extensive spyware/virus scans are necessary.
  6. Awesome. :D Which Finnish newspapers?
  7. I feel almost the same about my mom using IE. I can't get her to stop, she used it right through the security hole when even Microsoft said it was unsafe to use and 2 million computers were compromised in a matter of days. :wall:
  8. I think that someone got RS to work through Chrome when it was just released, if you look in Tech & Computers around mid-September you might find something. I am obviously too lazy to look.
  9. I heard that happened to you before, I think it's about time you put your foot down about it. IMO.
  10. ^ That too, yes.
  11. I don't know about you, but I never try to get myself into anything. With music it's more like testing, I don't want to like a certain artist. Things I avoid, however, include Twilight, Highschool Musical, anything by Apple (Except for Darwin, but I couldn't get it to work, and WebKit, but that's not really Apple's), stupid bands like the Spice Girls, and most freeware. (Because it's not open source, just underdeveloped "free" crap 99% of the time.)
  12. ^ And a Hijack this test.
  13. I used to be on 64-bit Hardy, honestly I had all kinds of problems. Flash for one. Managed to install 32-bit Firefox, that worked for a while, but then Firefox kept updating itself.
  14. ^ Read messages are stored in the database.

Everything but the bold fonts works. I love it.

Use divs sparingly- Use other elements like ul, li, dt, dl, dd (etc.) not just divs (And spans for that matter, although they are easier to not overuse).
  17. Are you absolutely sure that it's microhelper making your computer lag?
  18. I've never understood people who still like XP. Because they're more comfortable with it? Not to be rude, but what's not to get? I can certainly agree about being comfortable with, and liking XP. dsavi is one of the people who tried to convince me Vista is a wonderful operating system, and that my PC wasn't powerful enough to run it. I think there's a certain ignorance around what people want from an OS, and what is really important. :| I don't think that Vista is a "Wonderful Operating System", I'm just saying it's better than XP.
  19. If you really have good ideas for emotes, I'm pretty sure that a few could be added... Emoticons are not such big things to add. The emotes would probably have to be of good quality and fit in with the rest of the ones we have already.
  20. That was completely uncalled for. There's a Wikibook on it, I don't know the quality of it but I've found most programming Wikibooks to be good enough to get a general idea. And yes, Java and JavaScript are two completely different languages. :P
  21. I've never understood people who still like XP.
  22. [Lurks from behind.] You called..... Im not sure it was made in 1997 since Runescape Classic was in Beta early 2000, Released roughly Jan-Feb 2001. Do a Whois on Tip.it, and you'll see that it was registered in 1997. The name isn't RS related, maybe Silverion planned to use it for something else?
  23. Depends. Which OS? If you're on Ubuntu it's a few clicks.
  24. I was thinking about that too. I can't believe that we are that large. We are #31 http://rankings.big-boards.com/?filter=phpBB,all&p=2 We are #30. Gaia online (#1 on that list) no longer runs on phpBB.
  25. Yeah, that's a good idea. Like Spanish, I've heard it's pretty easy. Learning a new language helps you learn your own.
