  1. The GPL has almost no restrictions to code use. This does not fall under them. What you agree to when you join a phpBB forum is not any "phpBB terms of service", rather a default, generic terms of service agreement written by the phpBB group. (Or a lawyer paid by them, I don't know.)
  2. Do we have to follow the phb terms of service along with tip.its? As long as we want to use the phb boards... You guys are mixed up. phpBB is licensed under the GNU GPL, which gives anyone the right to change and redistribute the source code of phpBB and ensures that any redistributed modifications of the original package also provides the source code. There are, however, no "phpBB terms of service". What you agree to when you join a phpBB forum can vary from forum to forum, as the terms of agreement are entirely editable, and the content is entirely up to the administrators of said forum.
  3. Here's how you solve your problem. You can: a) Disable User Account Control from the control panel (And open a HUGE security hole in your system) or B) Convince Microsoft to rewrite how Windows works so that it knows who started the action. Which still opens a hole. Other operating systems have done more or less the same thing, for example Linux. (With sudo, for example) It's a good practice and adds a lot of security. And seriously, how hard is it in Windows to just click the continue button? In most Linux distros I know of you have to type in your password even if you are an administrative account, and with other distros (Like Debian) you have to type in the root password. (By default anyway, it can be changed) Unless you're using the root account for whatever stupid and securicidal reason. I found it extremely annoying, mainly because of its implementation. For example, I'll download something and afterwards click "Run." At which point I am prompted with UAC box that makes me click something again, nearly ten seconds after I clicked "Run." But I usually multitask and have the installation minimized, if so, the UAC doesn't pop up or blanket my screen, it makes another window. And to my frustration, my installation is not complete because UAC didn't notify me correctly. I'm glad Windows 7 fixes some of this with the user control settings. I understand it's only a simple security measure but it gets old, real fast. I think that Microsoft should make the UAC window go over everything else like in Linux. Would solve the problem to quite an extent (Although it would cause people to hate it even more).

I daily listen to music while browsing TIF, using Photoshop, chatting in Skype (And sometimes MSN), using a virtual machine and possibly programming in Eclipse. It's not the most epic multi-tasking, but I don't have much more to do.

For those of you who don't know what this is, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_Red_River_Flood Just wanting to know, is there anyone here who lives near the Red river flood in Fargo, North Dakota/Northen Minnesota? I have some relatives there who have been filling sandbags in the Dome (Just like the rest of the city.) If you live anywhere near there good luck.

I don't smoke and that really bothers me. Somehow it's acceptable for a person to be 100 pounds overweight and sedentary, but it's not ok for a person to be a smoker and active (sports, etc.). Being overweight doesn't harm those around you though. :-w A fire may break out in that very restaurant. As everybody rushes to get out the fat man may trip and fall right at the entrance. He hits his head on the door and is knocked out. Fat man is blocking the exit and you all burn. And what caused the fire? A smoker who dropped their cigarrette. :P
  12. For funky effects like the RS homepage has (The dropdown menus etc.) I would recommend Mootools. I haven't actually used it in a site myself but it looks like it would work well. As for a free host, I've seen someone use http://izfree.com/ , it has everything you'll need to get started at least. Don't expect great bandwidth though.

Crap do I know how that feels, sorry to hear that man. :(
  14. Was using gparted yesterday (Ubuntu) and my version anyway could format a partition as NTFS.
  15. This worm is nothing compared to the latest virus I heard about, which runs on the BIOS. This means that a) It's cross platform (It doesn't matter what operating system you're using) and B) You can't get rid of it by formatting your harddrive. It's that kind of virus that keeps me up at night.
  16. I don't know... or :| ? I'll take both.
  17. Thru hardly is on anymore, I haven't seen him around lately at least. I'm sure he'll come out of hiding sometime. Guthix posted here a few months ago, but I don't think I've seen him since then.

I'd be glad to help you change it.
  19. What confuses me is how many times people said swear words are interesting words in here. There are people at my school who literally swear every other word sometimes, in my opinion it's about as unoriginal, uninteresting, and downright immature as it gets. I don't mind the occasional curse but that's just too much.
  20. Maybe this should be Free Open Source applications guide? In my opinion anyway. Eclipse - An IDE with an excellent user interface with lots of features that I can't type so early in the morning. CygWin - A Windows port of the bash shell. Far more useful than the DOS prompt. Frets On Fire - This game KILLS boredom. Inkscape - De facto standard of open source vector graphics programs.

Admins and Mods can not post after each other. Let me put it to you this way (In PHP): <?php class moderator { public $username; private $password; protected function moderate() { //Moderate stuff } } class crewbie { function makeTheStuff() { //Make the stuff for the User object to use } } class administrator extends moderator, crewbie { private function administrate() { //Administrate stuff } } ?> Notice the word EXTENDS in the Administrator class decleration. Therefore, this function would work with both moderator and administrator objects: function banMod( moderator $mod ) { $mod->demote; $mod->ban; } This, however, would fail because of the function argument type hinting used in the banMod function: $crewbie = new crewbie( 'Bob' , 'abc123' ); banMod( $crewbie ); I hope you understand this. Explaining it normally would have been far more boring.
