  1. Screw illustrator, Inkscape works great. Just doing it now. ...And it doesn't have encapsulating postscript support. Hurrah.

Blender, GIMP, and Inkscape were the three programs used for it and Elephant's Dream.
  3. Looking pretty good for a first

I pay for software  Don't be hatin' True that it would take long. You'd have to learn for a long time to be productive enough to make an entire 3-4 minute music video.
  5. Aww :( Sure, it's your decision. But we would be ever so glad...

If you have actually seen fractal art before this topic, you'll notice that fractals naturally have noise. Please research a little before posting. Put the quality to 2000 and you'll see that that isn't actually supposed to be there. It's a LQ rendering of a gaussian blur.
  7. Chill out, it's just a beta.
  8. Nope. PHP is a C syntax based programming language and BBcode is a markup language.

Faux is definitely not reliable. Yeah, I hate the sensationalist or extremely conservative ("Obama is a Muslim!") because they tend to contain about the same amount of crap. For news sources, I read a newspaper maybe one or two people in all of active Tip.It would know of, and listen to NPR.

    I''m vertically challanged. :(
  11. You can't get any more free than GPL licensed. Davedes: Sounds good, although we'll have to start out slow :P Can all who would like to at least try this out say if they'd like to or not? Cool that so many are interested.

http://www.bigbuckbunny.org/ http://www.elephantsdream.org/ Blender is for more than just modeling ;)
  13. viewtopic.php?f=90&t=779490 ;) Just a few topics down the page.
  14. I forgot to dispel the myth that Blender is difficult to use. Once you get the basics, it all clicks and you begin to see the logic behind the more advanced stuff. And I would learn 3DSM but I arr short on funds, and don't want to... acquire it because I have parents that notice if I suddenly have a 5,000 $ program. Sometimes it sucks having a more than computer-literate dad (He's a programmer and has done a large deal of 3D modeling, or rather engineering himself)
  15. :P Watch 'em all. It's interesting.
  16. And I think that some other people around here have expressed the desire to do so too. I'm wondering if there's anyone out there that wants to start learning 3D mesh modeling/animation/texturing/lighting etc. with Blender seriously enough that we could sort of learn together? It's pretty annoying being the only one I know that's doing it. I have a server, if enough people are interested I could set up a forum where we could exchange ideas, tips, tricks, tutorials, give C/C etc. or then I could arrange a forum another way or just use a chat. (Thing with that is that we would have to be online at the same time... Such a pain. Forums are a lot easier to maintain, and solve the timezone problem to a long extent.) Also if there's anyone that isn't as n00by at blender or another 3D program out there as I am, would be great if you would join too. The reason I don't want to just join another forum is because I don't know anyone anywhere else and that takes a large deal of the fun out of doing it, especially when you're one of the few real beginners, and everyone else is animating high poly scenes and using words you don't understand, if you get what I'm saying. :P I'm hoping for at least 5 people, but of course the more the merrier. People who are interested: (Say if you're not, I'm just guessing from your posts) Me Pat pryo? Uno? rangeor Skull N0M Kaphias Pomar Hawk Venomai Surfa Ipkjoo Shiny I'll see what I can do about a forum or chat or something.
  17. Unless, of course, you can come up with a good enough reason to convince the admins. We just got out of the "{Who|What|When|Why|How} {is|was|are|does|did} {your|you} {favorite|least favorite|best|worst|[superlative adjective]} {[noun]|[noun] [preposition] {[noun]}} {ever|in your life|you've ever seen|you'd like to do|etc.}?" and it was suggested to make a subforum for that, I believe.
  18. ^ Once W7 is released possibly at the end of this year, I'm pretty sure that they'll be done with the graphics drivers. The beta obviously isn't meant for normal use, so it's no big deal.
  19. Fewer nodes -> Always better. You're getting a lot of choppiness from using too many of them. To illustrate: (15 nodes, just a 10-minute trace in Inkscape) When doing vector, simplification is more than a virtue- It helps (Along with the careful use of symmetrical and smooth nodes) your work to look professional and helps extremely with scaleability. http://Inkscape.org/ Download that and learn to use it, much better than the GIMP vector system.
  20. It happens every year doesn't it? If it weren't for the relationship sticky we'd be flooded with relationship threads until March. As well as the "life sucks and nobody understands me" phase near the beginning of winter. If I only had enough determination and free time I'd make a comprehensive analysis of these forum cyclical phases. I started a list sometime back. This year's prediction: January: New years threads at the beginning and news threads nearer the end February: Valentine's day threads March: Getting bored, I'm not really sure what will happen April: April Fool's day thread May: April Fool's day thread lives on, end of school threads start beginning June: End of school threads July: Extreme boredom, WWIII, conspiracy theories, news threads, disturbing threads August: Continuation of July September: Back to school threads October: Gets pretty quiet as people start doing school projects, cricket thread comes up again? I don't know but I seem to remember it is usually active around then. November: I'm depressed :( And black Friday December: Christmas, Post Yer Loot, happy new year
  21. DH, I have a desperate need for a shirt that says "I can see Russia from my house". Because it's closer to being true for me than for Sarah Palin.
