In my opinion, your guide seems pretty spot on except: I think it would be more fitting to use Torag's helm, only -1 mage penalty but about +20 defense. (Poor outfit) Also, I think it would be a good idea to bring "Normal Sets" of potions (Normal Att, Str, Def), easily bought at the Warriors guild. Just my opinions. :)
