  1. You guys are lame. General opinion doesn't mean [cabbage]. At one point, the majority of voters thought Obama was a good leader and look how wrong they were. Well, that's a bad example since there weren't really any other options. A better example would be the Salem Witch Trials. I will admit that it takes some weight off of yourself when someone backs you up, but come on, I've been through much worse and made it out alive.
  2. I thought you said the government shouldn't be involved with drugs? That means that alcohol wouldn't even have the 18 age limit, anyone would be able to do it.
  3. So does the lottery, marriages, and a whole lot of other crap the government is absolutely fine with. The amount of double standards they have is disturbing. Things should only be against the law if they are immoral. The law is to protect the people, not attack them. That being said, rape definitely deserves a much more harsh punishment than using a substance on your own body.
  4. How? Pornography and clinical medication are the same things, only regulated. The idea of taxing doesn't bother me at all. But like someone said earlier, spending it on things that we only have a 0.001% chance of using at war instead of our education system (which is falling apart in Florida tremendously) is just stupid. Also, a lot of laws are absolute bull, such as the drinking age being 21 instead of 18. There is a lot the government has been successful with, but there is still a lot that needs to be fixed. Besides, a government that adapts is an ideal one. Things should always be changing since things always have a potential of getting better.

Wow, someone who doesn't jump to flaming me as soon as I say the words "spoiled" and "Anti-Jagex". I still disagree with you, but I give you props for that.
  6. Zierro replied to Gerbil's topic in Rants
I'm not talking about little things though. I'm talking about the big picture. Of course a rich kid is going to complain here and there - complaining is in our nature. But you have that Anti-Jagex crap in your sig, implying that we're talking about the big picture here, not just one instance where they made a single update that displeased you. Oh, you can complain all you want. I love freedom of speech. However, saying something like this to a starving African: "No wonder you think life is so great! You don't have the same luxuries as me!" just sounds ridiculous and only aims to reveal spoiled tendencies. The African's problems are obviously greater in magnitude than the rich kid's, yet when it comes to the big picture of life, the rich kid still has a much more negative point of view. And she's right. You should be more grateful for what you have, especially when there are people with much less than you who are being ten times as grateful. Instead of realizing that Runescape is already a massive game with things you've probably never even done before, you decide to take up arms and complain about how you're not getting enough. No wonder your mom feels the need to tell you that. Mother knows best. : Or maybe you're just a militant Anti-Jagex campaigner. It could be either of the two.
  7. A stereotype is an empirical generalization. You just made one with that sentence. Here's an interesting read about stereotypes and why they exist: http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-scientific-fundamentalist/200804/all-stereotypes-are-true-except-i-what-are-stereotypes
  8. Zierro replied to Gerbil's topic in Rants
What the...? Quel is playing a much crappier version of the game than you, yet you're the one who's complaining? That's like a rich kid in a mansion telling a starving African that life sucks.
  9. I prefer not to throw the word around because it desensitizes it for the people I truly value as heroes. If I call someone who has 99 Mining a hero, then it doesn't mean as much when I call a fireman who saved a little girl's life a hero too. There's a reason we don't like using it, besides wanting to be anal. But now that you specified what you meant, that makes things more clear.
  10. If F2P is a demo, then what would that make Runescape when it was F2P only? P2P is the expansion of the game, since it was an update after all. Also, do you know of any demos that people will play for years and years without paying for the real deal? I was wondering that too.

Sounds like a regular Disney movie then. They had some original ones back in the 90's, like Toy Story. But now they are just... yeah.

I think Mechscape is Jagex's way of redeeming themselves to the players. RS is pretty much screwed to eternity since everyone seems to hate them now due to them being in a rock and a hard place with the RWT fiasco. A game with hope is a better investment of time than a game where people still complain about wanting the wild and free trade back. It could be their way of proving the players wrong and reminding them that they are the company that caused all of us to like the game enough (at least at one point in our lives) to come to this fansite. Or maybe I'm just being too optimistic. It's what I would do though. It's been done numerous times and this isn't even a rant.
  13. Wouldn't you rather ask, "where's my girlfriend?"? Much better option, especially in the long-er run. That's not happening any time in the foreseeable future... I'm "not popular with the ladies" :/ Then find a girl that's not popular with the gentlemen. Confidence is the first step to getting a girlfriend. If someone like me can do it, then anyone can.
  14. Well, I don't really like calling other people heroes unless they saved a life or something, but I will say that Qeltar was the Runescaper to inspire me to engage in forum debating. I remember there was a thread in RSOF about whether luring was morally right or not. I was on his side, and I was amazed by his eloquence and use of logic. Ever since, I've been traveling the path to become a Masturdebater. Never really cared much for Truthscape though.

Me too. Also, it isn't impossible to type half the sentence, do something, then type the other half. The whole bank was against you because people are desperate to fit in with the crowd. It's quite funny actually. The majority of people say that the majority of people are idiots, even though the majority of people follow the majority of people around like sheep.
  16. Well, we've both had different experiences then, leading us to different conclusions. The only way to truly find out would be to have a scientific study.
  17. Makes sense, but then what the heck do rich people spend their money on? Nothing? And I still don't know why you call fast food expensive... :?

As far as I'm concerned, the only real Marvel was back in the day. Whatever happens in the future doesn't effect the past at all. I did watch The Spectacular Spiderman on the Disney Channel once. It's weird. They have a high school scene, Peter gets into some drama with chicks liking him, it's exactly like freaking High School Musical, then he leaves school, fights some bad guys and the action is actually quite surprising, being on the Disney Channel that is. It's like two totally different shows in one. (Or just one anime...) Ooo, good point. =P~ It better be, because I hated the second one.
  19. I'm the opposite. I like talking slow and being brief while using advanced vocabulary. It makes you sound wise, since brevity is wit.
  20. It was founded on freedom. Whether or not the country has been consistent with freedom is a different story. Be careful with using the term "financial freedom". Scamming is a form of that. I think we should have freedom. Freedom with religion, freedom with substances, freedom with saying what you want. However, the saying goes, "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". The right to life is just as important as the right to liberty in America. Turns out America was founded on nationalized health care, as well as freedom. Hmmm...
  21. Haha, I edited it because that did come out wrong: Yeah, it's been an interesting night. That happens with Sweet Tarts candy a lot. I mean, there are only three in them so it's not like you're missing out on much, but still, just the idea of it is funny.

Well, Wang has been talking about my butt a lot lately, even in Rants. Kinda makes me uneasy. :?
  23. In those cases, any ad hominems were mutual. This thread is pretty different if you ask me though. The most debating on this thread is how Das said my Taco Bell example is bad, and me defending it. In fact, in this thread I even said the words, "I'm not trying to argue here." You should be proud of me. :D Oh yeah? What's that big paragraph above then??

For a white guy, I do have a big [wagon]. How you would know that is well beyond me. OT: I played RS for the first time in months. My friend sent me a message on Myspace reminiscing about the good old days. Needless to say, he convinced me to come back and log in occasionally now.
