Theology threads? Those are real? Holy [cabbage], I just thought I was having a nightmare. Damn. I'm totally zonked atm just thinking of this. I know I know, but they are very real my friend. I can remember changing my religious stance about five or six times in the middle of them and having like 300 post counts in "Is God Real?" (we used to have a feature that showed the thread you posted on the most) so there is plenty of evidence for their existence out there.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
I agree. If you two share any inside-jokes or memes, that would be a good starting point. My dorkiness has always been the trademark that intrigued my girlfriend, and it's a great basis for a gift idea.

Wingless' Top 10 Games [Updated]
Definitely. Simplicity can be a good thing. Also, I agree with Wing that the first one had a more appealing "feel" or "atmosphere". The levels were much better too. That's not to say I don't think L4D2 has any better qualities. I did like the additional special infected and weapons. Overall, I'd rather play the first one.

What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
Can't play Bioshock right now and I want a break from God of War since I got to Pandora's Temple, so I decided to start a quest of collecting everything in Twilight Princess (Wii). It took a while, but the weird controls are kinda growing on me.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
I can agree with that, but what I don't understand is how some people think that everybody is at least part bi.

Eye for an eye
The problem with this argument is that death-causing items are already commonly sold and even taxed by the government such as tobacco and cigarettes (making for a bad precedent). But just because there is a chance of someone dying from them shouldn't make it immoral to sell them. They consented to buying the pills, so I don't see how this is more immoral/detrimental than raping someone and more immoral/detrimental than mass-selling cigarettes. I agree. I must have edited this in after you've already read my post: EDIT: But I think I understand what you're saying. The cost of what you stole shouldn't be the main factor to take into account. It should moreso be the nature of the act (mitigating factors, such as "I was hungry so I stole this food for my family").
-
Eye for an eye
So selling pills is objectively more malicious, immoral, detrimental than raping someone? The current system makes mistakes all the time, precedents change, judges and juries disagree with each other, mitigating factors are interpreted in so many different ways, etc. That implies extreme subjectivity.
-
Eye for an eye
Of course it's subjective, as is the current system. I'm willing to debate how all of those petty crimes I listed aren't nearly as malicious as rape or murder though. I've heard of a case where a man got life in prison for selling pills and a rapist only got a few years. To me, that's just ridiculous. Subjective or not, it doesn't mean I shouldn't fight for what I think is right. That's the very thing that keeps government alive. (Also, see the first post of this thread. It talks about moral "objectivity" and why eye for an eye is the least subjective approach we can use.) There are going to be flaws in the system. I never claimed perfection. It just won't be as bad as the system that treats a rapist much better than a drug seller. Anyone here think that those were fair sentences? Wait... Do you think stealing the Hope Diamond is a petty crime or not? EDIT: But I think I understand what you're saying. The cost of what you stole shouldn't be the main factor to take into account. It should moreso be the nature of the act (mitigating factors, such as "I was hungry so I stole this food for my family"). We already do. It's called doing your time.
-
Eye for an eye
I have no idea how much the diamond costs or how much profit the labor yields. We already have community service which works in the same vein, but only not for profit. So it sounds reasonable to use a similar system to that, especially if you've committed theft and are unable to pay out of your own pocket.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
I never tried because I'm happy where I'm at and I believe it's not something you can just pick anyhow. Similar to how your taste buds work - I can't just consciously decide to like potato salad one day. The thought of males in a sexual connotation is like potato salad. No thanks. :-#

What movie(s) did you last see?
Iron Man 2. Possibly the worst movie ever made. :???:

Favorite thing about the opposite sex?
Personally I like a cocky girl.

Eye for an eye
Some traffic violations, some sex offender acts (streaking down the neighborhood shouldn't put you in the same category as a rapist), drug possession, piracy, littering, prostitution, etc. None of those are even close to the same level of malice as murder and rape and abuse. Forced labor.

Gun Control
Even so, my original point...is that really a valid enough argument for gun ownership? That your family may someday be in a life threatening situation? Come on... It is a valid argument for gun ownership. If it even saves one innocent life, it's a worthy cause. The thing is, it has saved far more than that. You act like it never happens and we should never need to worry about it. Are taking precautions really that ridiculous just because you think "it's never gonna happen to you"? That's the same mentality of the people who have been severely injured in a car accident because they didn't wear their seat belt. Come on...
-
Gun Control
Having a clear conscience is exactly why I would save my loved-ones. I mean, completely your choice, but it is surprising to see how much you care about a murderer's life over your own or your family.

Favorite thing about the opposite sex?
Could you expand on the feet idea? Saying you're attracted to just feet is kinda... um... I don't know. I mean, everyone has feet, but what about them do you like? Lol, wish I knew why myself. I also like arms. I heard of a painter that thinks the most attractive part of a woman's body is the back of her neck and liked to emphasize them in his art.

Gun Control
It still does happen. And we actually do take precautions like this all the time. In Disney World, an extremely small amount of people have died from heart conditions by riding certain rides. Now they give warnings, ask if you want to ride the less extreme version of the ride, and keep a closer watch on all of the riders. Seatbelts and lifesavers. How often do people get into accidents? Why prepare for them? So is the unlikeliness of an event really such a valid argument to support "not preparing for the most outside of chances in our lives"?

Eye for an eye
You're correct, and that's why "eye for an eye" can't be taken too literally. Forgive me for using the theft for theft example, as that's probably what gave you the impression I agree with rape for rape. It's "justice" (of getting what is deserved) for "malice" (of committing extreme atrocities to innocent people): a matter of the punishment equaling the crime. Not for the two to be completely the same, as that's simply impossible since crime and justice are two completely different concepts. About the rapists, depending on the certain circumstances, the most deserving punishment for them would be on par with murderers. Theft isn't nearly as big of a deal as rape and murder, so a large fine seems fitting (since it is quite fittingly "possession for possession"). I definitely do not agree that stealing bread warrants cutting off someone's arm or life in jail for selling pills. The current system does not give punishment equal to the crime. In some cases, they are being too harsh on harmless affairs. And in some cases, they are too lenient on extreme and disturbing crimes.

Happy Halloween
Free candy does sound nice, but Trick-or-Treating is against my code of conduct. I think it's just for kids. I remember the time when I was twelve and my parents dragged me along because they didn't want me at the house by myself on Halloween.
