Thought-provoking films
My friends and I are bored and need your help. We generally hate television, but there are a handful of movies that we actually came to enjoy. -Requiem for a Dream -Pulp Fiction -Reservoir Dogs -Fight Club -No Country for Old Men -A Clockwork Orange -Donnie Darko -Cool Hand Luke -Full Metal Jacket -American History X -Little Miss Sunshine (don't ask...) So, any related movies come to mind? (Also, this thread doesn't just have to be about recommendations. Philosophy in movies can be discussed in general if you would like. I might add some stuff on Pulp Fiction later. )

Bringing Closure To This All?
Aren't you the guy who said you don't see anything wrong with society? Simply put, anti-progression is a dangerous train of thought. We should always strive to build a better tomorrow instead of settling for what already is and just managing to scrape by. Humanity has such potential - it's just such a shame how very few actually want to do something about it.

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -4.62 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.62 I also took a "What super villain are you?" quiz and it fits me quite well: You are Magneto. You fear the persecution of those that are different or underprivileged so much that you are willing to fight and hurt others for your cause.

Today...
Yeah, it's a decent show. Although they really overdo the whole "I'm trying to be a good father and maintain a healthy relationship" thing. I can understand implementing the idea of a serial killer trying to balance his life with being an average person, BUT HOLY [cabbage]! I don't want to watch Days of Our Lives!

Gears of War 3
This is the only upcoming game I'm actually looking forward to.

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
Calling someone "gay" or "f _ _" as a derogatory insult. I can come up with much more accurate, creative, and hurtful insults than that. Nowadays you can call anyone gay for any reason, to the level of nullifying the point of having an argument. It's just such a cop-out.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
They choose to eat at McDonalds (and it has a correlation with health risks), but they do not choose to die from heart failure. Just as Africans choose to have sex (and it has a correlation with health risks), but do not choose to die from AID's. Rape being the exception, but condoms are completely useless anyways in that case. So by your logic, unless Mcdonalds strips their restaurant free of health risks, they are committing genocide.

Vegetarianism
Therefore it has earned the influence it has caused. Whether it's a good or bad thing is debatable, but the connotation you get from "undeserved" or "unearned" just does not make sense in the context of something having an influence on the world.

Favorite thing about the opposite sex?
Girls are great sandwich makers. My grandmother's and girlfriend's sandwiches are to die for. But like Joe said, when it comes to actual cooking I think guys are superior. Girls are also better cleaners, nurses, and WNBA players.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
Is Mcdonalds genocide too? I do appreciate you trying to make TIF a more controversial place to post, but you could at least give yourself a fighting chance.

Vegetarianism
I don't see how an influence can be "undeserved". If a country influences the world, it influences the world. It obviously did something to "earn" that influence, or else there would be none.

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
I had a feeling the "you're just jealous" card would be pulled here. I'm pissed off at the fact that they get paid millions of dollars and interviews up the ass for having fun playing trivial games all day, whereas someone who actually does something to benefit society, such as a firefighter or teacher, doesn't get nearly as much money or recognition for their work. The same applies to people like Hannah Montana. That type of stardom makes me sick. In no way am I crying about how I think I deserve attention or whatever you're implying by comparing me to a bunch of popular perpetual boys. Also, there is the fact that football itself sucks. EDIT: One thing I did overlook is that football players encourage kids to stay active and exercise, making for a healthier society. Other than that though, I am baffled as to how some people worship them and how literally the majority of their conversations revolve around them. Honestly I think being that much of a fanboy for anything is pretty ridiculous; football just happens to be at the top of the chart. Instead of it being some escapism from life for the general population (which I would be completely fine with), it is their life.

Along those lines, severely exaggerated drug stories.

When football players get treated like they are the most important beings to walk the earth.

Favorite thing about the opposite sex?
I think that's a big reason why some people are so eager to get laid. Social acceptance. Psychological pleasure, rather than physical. What? No of course not, we like sex because of scientific factors, because of such thing of [FACT] mixed with [FACT] and applied to [FACT] with some of [FACT]! Sex is very [FACT]ual! I meant why people (specifically teenage boys) are so obsessed with losing their virginity. They think of it as a social status. No over-analyzation required to figure that one out. Evidence: "OMG! You're 17 and still a virgin?!?! LOL loser!!"

Bringing Closure To This All?
My internet experience changed me for the better. I've been exposed to a nice array of meritable ideas and beliefs, I think I actually handle social situations with more tact than I used to, and I even learned more about who I am. Of course I probably missed out on some cool opportunities in life here and there, but I don't regret it in the least. I think that was Ilya's point. Due to an assumption you made about him, his logic is flawed?

I'm not one for cuddling. But that's because I'm too finicky about the position of my ligaments and need to rearrange my body every couple of minutes. I enjoy hugging though.

Dusty's Top 7
You are too fond of conflict. I can tell this by your strong desire for simulated bloodshed and, as seen above, your thirst for a skirmish with an authoritative figure. Yeah, most people I played against in Starcraft were just insanely efficient. Even when you're losing, it's still fun.

Today...
Today I played WoW all day and got my first level 30. (I've gotten to 20 and deleted my character way too many times, so I decided to stick through this time.) So yeah, I think it's safe to say this has been one of the most pathetic days of my life. Lots of arguments in Battleground Chats... A battle axe is the best weapon, no matter what the situation.
