  1. As long as you don't live your life just to cause harm or inconvenience others, I see no problem.

    Today...

Today I turned in my research paper. It was about the psychological effects of video games and how the violent trend we see in America is not necessarily caused by video games because correlation =/= causation. I no longer feel like a turtle with an island on his back - everything's downhill from here. :-)
  3. Neither the government nor the people hold "the power". Only ideas hold "the power".
  4. I think for the most part, when someone calls someone an idiot, they mean in that specific context they were being an idiot - not that every move they make is completely void of all logic.
  5. Ego or the concept of "I" is a biological trick in order to preserve and perpetuate the human race - more specifically, humanity. It is apparent in the nature of our communication. We fight what we deem to be weak ideas, we try to evade what intimidates us, we mate with what we find merit in. Logic is this animal's instinct. We wonder. We wander. For what purpose am I self-aware? Is this evolutionary enlightenment or is it a delusional defense? As a human, it is entirely your choice. But either way, you will always be the sacred scum of the earth. Yours sincerely, A fellow organism
  6. So it's not really cancer that says "times up" but moreso whether the person in question has lived a fulfilling life yet? I used to be of the same opinion but thinking deeper on it, I would think giving up life would be one of the worst feelings ever. Imagine you are faced with the question to never see, feel, or experience anything ever again because all the people you fought so hard to give good lives to "want their turn". I mean yeah... logically speaking, hooking a 90-year-old up to life support doesn't seem to be such a practical use of our resources, but I'm not going to pretend to know the mental pain they are facing and how much something like that would mean to them. As rude and dimwitted as I find most old people to be, I believe they deserve as long of a life as they can get. Canadians and French. Italians also get it pretty bad from Family Guy.
  7. 1. Cram in a bunch of random, mostly pointless, information for a set duration of time 2. Show off to gain credibility 3. "Make it" in the world 4. Revert back to original lazy state, but still hold high position in power And here we are.
  8. Oh come on, that's just as loaded as the question, "How would you feel if Hitler's mother wanted an abortion?"
  9. Yeah easily the most disgusting video on the internet Well I couldn't say any of them top that one, but there are definitely A LOT more where that came from. Unfortunate world we live in. That's why I carry a goddamn knife on me.
  10. I think the armor abilities could've had some potential if Bungie didn't design 90% of Reach's maps like a bunch of drunken monkeys. Uncaged is the ugliest hunk of metal I've ever seen.
  11. How our dog ALWAYS has to stand right in the middle of the kitchen when there's a lot of activity in there, people carrying hot plates of food, trying to do the dishes, etc. You'd find Pennsylvanians to be much worse. We sound like a combination of a hick and an Irish/German hybrid. It's weird. :U But, I know exactly what you're talking about. I can't put a number on how many times people have asked me if I'm from Pennsylvania just from my accent alone.

What point are you driving at with such an exaggerated comparison? That boredom can lead to terrible things. :anxious:

Pro: The living need it more than the dead. Con: "Look everyone, I have Chuck Norris's liver!" (The dead still deserve to rest in peace and not have their remains, and as an extension, their entity, be disturbed.) I can never make up my mind about this subject. Oh wait, just did.

I could replace it with (would-have-been-a-person's-arm) and it would still touch on the issue of human rights. Either way you look at it, it's still the act of physically experimenting on a (could-have-been-sacred) component of something literally classified as "human" against its will it never had but could've. I don't know whether I'd classify that as a breach of rights or not, but I'm interested in hearing opinions.

But what about the aspect of physical mutilation? It's not the same as just pulling a plug - it's putting a (would-have-been-a-person) through dissection and chemical processes. I think the actual experimentation is where most of the controversy lies. On the other hand, this cannot be stressed enough in abortion threads.

Perhaps not the development of the modern world, but the foundation that allowed our intelligent ancestors the opportunity to prosper in the first place has definitely been crafted by our primal, biologically-geared methods/tendencies. After all, survival is a necessity to make any progress. What did people do in the meantime while crops were supposedly growing? Kill for food and territory. The world was newer and these abstractions like morals and rights were as non-existent as the internet. Now with a better understanding of technology and empathy, the monstrosity is thinning out, but back then they didn't have much of an option. And in the context of today (economy, prison hierarchy, advertisement, national security, World of Warcraft, etc.), some of this still rings true. We're still killing each other - just now it's done formally.

I would guess it's because they are still seen as human beings with the right to privacy. Even if undeveloped and dead, whatever characterizes "humankind" is a mind-boggling concept to us humans. I don't know where I heard this from, but I thought the "newer" the stem cell, the more plasticity it has making it easier to manipulate and experiment on.

I'm not implying we should all just crawl under rocks and die. I'm saying that there are many situations in life where you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. For example, how do you think we have established territories and food sources to the point they are now? A lot of "sacrifices", for lack of better wording.

As barbaric as it might come off in principal, we were thrown into some pretty miserable and unfair conditions just to survive. We can either fight for our lives or die. Either way, there's no such thing as peace. That's just the way of things. Don't look at me. I didn't make the rules.

Just found out that bacon bits are really just soy. Life isn't the same anymore.
