In order to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first create a universe. We do the things we do because of our genetic makeup and our environment. The human choice really is nothing more than a delusion. To say we have freewill is to say our choice comes from scratch, but it doesn't. You were born a certain way or were exposed to a certain stimuli in your lifetime which caused you to make that "choice". The philosophy of nihilism really hits the nail on the head - life is pointless. BUT... to live that way just isn't healthy and overall isn't very desirable for your average human being. That's one of the main reasons why people drink and do drugs. It distorts reality for us because reality is too [cabbage]ty to deal with. Delusion isn't always a bad thing. Our race's happiness is founded on it. We're just bacteria of the earth each equipped with biological tricks called "egos" which delude us into thinking we're something more important than the germs we're stepping on, which is actually quite favorable when it comes to our race's survival. And that's where religion comes into play.

True, which is why I think delusion is a necessity for humanity, at least to some extent.

I got L4D2 last night. I really like the variety of weapons, levels, and infected. It's a pretty good game, but I do have to say that the first is still my favorite. I'm kind of disappointed with the achievements too.

I got an Xbox 360 Elite, an extra controller with a charger, Left 4 Dead 2, socks, boxers, shirts, a pair of Nikes, Family Guy DVDs, a memory card for my cell, a pair of loud headphones, Reservoir Dogs, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and the new Slayer CD. I got wasted yesterday too. So yeah, Christmas was awesome this year. 8-)

I think you should get some kind of compensation from donating one, but directly getting cash doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

I agree. Halo 2's multi is definitely the best.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (I think... It was the sixth one where they find out about horcruxes.) I found it pretty interesting. I remember the 5th one nearly put me to sleep because nothing really happens, but this one was good at keeping my attention.

Oh boi, I made a pop culture reference :P Yeah, most hot pockets are just downright gross. The breakfast ones are very good though.

If you've seen it a few times and want to watch it again but want something different then listening to the commentary is pretty fun. The one with Brad Pitt/Edward Norton/David Fincher is the good one. The other commentary has a few random people that weren't really all that interesting. Thanks, I'll check it out. Sounds pretty cool. :smile:

It depends on what they did during their services, obviously. If they bullied civilians just because they were pissed off, then they are scum. If they did something like risking their life to rescue their buddies, that is pretty heroic. It's silly to assume that anyone who served in the military is a hero though.
