Well, I don't see a difference between Visual Studio and Notepad++(with minGW compiler) when it comes to programming in C++, so I don't understand why people say it's different, mind telling me? I find Visual Studio 2008 to be a good program, although it has way too many things.

I agree with that. Do not try to push yourself too fast.

What I usually do is install the latest drivers for the hardware, stop programs I don't want from loading or disable them (msconfig and services.msc), then Windows update to have it to date. Then I do stress tests to see how it runs and benchmark it's performance using programs like 3dmark etc. I then install programs I use everyday (well AV for protection, even if I realized it's pretty much useless for me to have one), like Firefox, Opera, Notepad++, other programs.

I'm sorry, but you seem to have not followed antivirus progression in the last few years :roll: . AVG has fallen down the list and is now one of the worst (I say that by experience and other users experience). McAfee, which I had experience with in the last year because college put it on my laptop, doesn't seem to be able to detect anything and takes an excrutiating amount of resources. Norton is better than it used to be, it uses less resources, but it doesn't seem to pick up more viruses than it previously did (poor detection). TrendMicro is Ok and I don't know Webroot. I suggest, for paid antiviruses, Kaspersky or NOD32 (I use both, kaspersky currently being free on Windows 7 (there is a reason though) and NOD32 on my laptop's Vista). For free antiviruses, Avira seems to be the best with good detection rates and not too many false positives. I use it on my desktop. I would not suggest Avast, [cabbage] loads of false positives (experience again). I like to try different antiviruses :P.

Maybe your government has a "Do not call list" too. I know here in New-Brunswick Canada there is such a list that the government put in place to stop those calls.

Hi, I'm just wondering if some of you guys know good drivers other than the actual drivers that come from Ati. My card in the laptop is an Ati Radeon HD 3470, and I don't want to get the latest drivers since last time I tried to update my drivers, it couldn't dual screen anymore, but with the current driver, part of the driver often crashes. Just now I got a MOM[Caution: Executable File] error and then a blue screen (pointer error) which I just discarded because it was the first time I had a blue screen with that laptop. Next time, if there is one, I'll get the error. All I know is it was pointer related. Thanks in advance to any who can help me :).

Does it work in Internet explorer? If so, I know one of the solutions you could try. Is it Vista 64bit as well?

Spring a few years ago, rolled on a patch of ice and snow, and slipped. Luckily didn't involve another car, but I did hit the steel barrier they put when we're on top of a hill. Needless to say the repairs were about $5k to repair the front of the car.

Weird, I never had that problem and I have Vista too and sometimes have quite a lot of programs running at the same time. I agree on the explorer[Caution: Executable File] killing and using the task manager, to make it run again, solved some of my problems on XP.

Yeah, I did that once on my laptop, while turning down the volume I accidentaly disabled the touchpad, yes I was using the Fn keys

I'm 21, quite time I buy a car, and I will buy it this next weekend: Toyota Echo 2002. Going to cost me 2k, but is a pretty reliable car. 255k Kilometers and 2 accidents, but still drives and looks like new (I know the actual owner of the car :P).

I'm not sure, because I've never seen such a deal, but I do think that newegg will have that deal.
