Have you even read his first post? He already has a dual core Athlon, although it's low end. To upgrade pretty much anything he'd have to change the motherboard I think. He would be able to keep the same CPU though, but not the RAM or other things. I would wait for sloter's advice on this if I were you.

Well, D.V., you being on a CRT screen explains everything. I see it very clearly on my desktop's LCD and even better on my laptop's HD screen. I'm on the tif theme as well. As for this HJT log, I can't help at all with this one, too many things I don't know anything about.

The firewall will generally be in the active programs (the icons) in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Oh, and I forgot to say, if you want to install XP on dual boot, you're going to have trouble making them both work, since normally you have to put the older OS before. That's how Microsoft OSes work. You can make it work, but you're going to have a hard time doing so. Also, there's a chance that your hardware has been made for Vista and not tested for XP.

Sorry for being off-topic here: Possibly quite to the contrary. Some systems are better-suited to running certain things on an XP core than they are on a Vista core. To which, they will perform better on XP instead of Vista. This isn't always the case, but it does happen. :geek: ~D. V. "What's your drive type?" Devnull For those that says Devnull is wrong here, well you're the guys that are wrong. I got proof of what Devnull is saying. My desktop for example, had Windows XP when I installed it. I always had trouble with Windows XP on it, then when I installed Vista, only a few days ago, it worked a miracle! Even without SP1 I had no bugs and no problems at all, whereas with XP I kept on crashing and all that [cabbage]. Guess my PC was made for Vista and that HP put XP on it to save money :S.

There's a similar thing with the Canadian Dollar, exept it's for the bill number, as if it's a 20 dollar bill, there's going to be parts of the 20 on one side and the other parts in the other side. You see the full 20 when you look through the bill with light.

And I'm sure Macs can do some things Windows can't. New iMacs are said to be have a blu-ray drive, but who knows. Blu-ray hasn't hit the market hard enough yet because of sheer price. $300 for a blu-ray drive? No thanks. I'm sure we'll see blu-ray lowering prices on drives and then taking over like the change from VHS to DVD. You do know that Windows PCs had the blu-ray drive for a while?

Yep, Hp is still in the my list of good computer brands, although it almost seem like the Windows XP they had put on my desktop was currupted, having a lot of errors, now I installed Vista on my HP desktop, and runs a lot faster and a lot more stable than windows XP.

What do you expect, Mac is always in advance. Their only problem is the pricing and the games compatibility.

Yeah, they say the east of Canada and Europe might get in a kind of snow age because of the global warming, that's true. Here in atlantic Canada, we already had 30cms of snow a few days ago, although it all melted, but they announce more for thursday and friday. Quite weird, 2 years ago we didn't have snow till the end of December, then last year we had 5 meters of snow, and they say this year we're going to have 2 meters more snow (one big storm + a small storm each week, of course there was some melting between them) than last year, I wonder if it's true, and if it is, what an old fashioned winter we will have lol.

I'd go for intel as well. They say the last good AMD processor were Athon64 dual core. Now that Intel processor will start being like AMD's processors for memory managing, they're going to be real lots more powerful than AMD processors.

I see that when I'm on Firefox, but I don't see the hex codes when I'm on Opera, so I think it must some bug in the code. Weird that that time it's not IE that's displaying different but Firefox :-k

Well, just wait till you're able to afford it, preferably when you will be adult. As for me, I got it in august 2007, a Motorolla W385 Difference is the time is written on the other side and on 2 stories. Costs less to have that with Telus than Aliant's(Bell) home phone XD. Not changing it until it breaks.

Don't think that would explain why the same problem occurs on my other computer. (it doesn't have norton) Then I think it would be the ISP's cords :S
