  1. I'm going on a trip to Halifax next week!
  2. Lol I guess HP chooses good PSUs if I can run a 7600 on that PSU :P. Also, what are good brands for PSUs? Thank you very much guys.
  3. Well, it was originally a 7300 LE :P. But I went for a check on Newegg (even if I'm in Canada) and found my computer (I like their search system), and yes, it seems it's a 300W. I don't think this can power a 9600 GT though.
  4. Hi, as said in the title, I'm intrested in upgrading the graphic card I have, currently a Geforce 7600 GS, but the problem is, I couldn't find the wattage of my power supply, and I have a prebuilt computer. On google, I have found something similar, but the computer was an earlyer generation of what I have. I still have the stock PSU I had on it but here is the specs: Computer: HP Pavilion m7580n Processor: AMD Athlon64 dual core 4600+ 2.4 Ghz RAM: 3 Gb (Added another stick of 1Gb from the original 2 Gb, one seemed broken but ended up as just needing a clean up in the connection). Graphics card: EVGA 7600 GS. Now, for budget, let's say it's unlimited. As for the card, I would prefer in Nvidia cards, since I'm a bit of an Nvidia fan lol. I was thinking of 9600 GT, since there's HDTV support I heard and that I often watch tv directly on my desktop, yes the computer's popular name is the media center pc, and I think my current PSU could support it, but I'm not sure what wattage is needed for it. I'm quite sure I couldn't hold a 8800 GT with that PSU. Thank you in advance, I'm just looking for advice :). Oh, and if it's too hard to understand, tell me, English is not my first language ;).
  5. D. V. Devnull, and others as well, I will say what happened to me. When I had Norton, a few years ago (now Kaspersky FTW!), and the subscription was about to end, I got that envelope thing in the active icon bar thing, and when I hovered the mouse over, it said something along the lines of "You got mail - Norton Internet security 2006". Clicked on it and it said that I could download the 2008 version (since it had just gone out), and so I did. The computer immediately restarted (BSOD as you would have guessed) and was in that restart loop because of constant BSODs. Decided to go on Safe-mode, and since it seemed like a virus, tried running Norton, but then: Restart (BSOD, but computer is so fast that it restarts immediately). I don't remember how we repaired that, but it was quite an easy fix, and after that, when I installed Kaspersky (I still have 90 days today left then I'm going to try NOD32), and scanned with Kaspersky, Norton being uninstalled, and found 5 viruses in what Norton files there were left. I also remember having trouble like a year after I uninstalled Norton, and that trouble was related to Norton that didn't completely uninstall. Yes, I did know that Norton was not good, but didn't know that when I bought it, proves advertisement works rofl. A friend told me it happened to him too, and I saw that envelope thing on my parent's computer before they sold the computer too. I would've like to have seen that happen on their computer too, but I guess it wasn't even strong enough to download and hard drive was full on their computer, that was 7 years old. I also had decided to do a clean reinstall back then since there were quite a lot of errors in windows that I was getting, and Ends out I had 3 viruses that resisted that reinstall.
  6. Or you could go on Start, Run, then type dxdiag. This will open a screen showing all we needed to know, and you can go check on the display tab, and should see the graphics card (or if it's onboard graphics I guess).
  7. They're dirt cheap now, but also depends on the size and the type. I know DDR is more expensive than DDR2. Edit: same time, but I have to admin, my post didn't help much.
  8. I got him a card. As simple as that :D.
  9. Well, graduated from highschool in 2006 and went to college for a year in Biotechnology but dropped out since I wasn't insterested anymore last November. I currently work at a grocery store to pay my loan and also until I go to college again in september in computer science.
  10. Quite amazing what a little fire behind an elementary school can become lol. Anyways, I think I'm lucky enough to live so far from the New Bruwnswick fires that we see no smoke :P. I think the fires are much in the south, like ppl at Sussex/Fredericton/Moncton could see it?

    Edit: Remove my post please.
  12. What the hell are you smoking. An anti-virus company is not going to give you a virus for not renewing your subscription. Just subscibe to Norton and see what it does, anyway it was an easy fix to remove that virus. I saw that thing on all the computers I have seen norton close to end of subscription.
  13. Do you have the wrong driver? That's what it seems to be to me, since it was doing that on mine when I did a clean reinstall of windows on my computer having a card that is not my original one. The original card had drivers that came with windows (yeah, prebuilt). Had to put my cd in to put the right driver. Also, when you update the driver, it's better to go to the manufacturers website.
  14. Completely removing Norton should do the trick. There are very good online scanners like Housecall or Kaspersky's that you can use in between the time you get a new antivirus. Norton does that when it's installed and is not running. You can't do anything. I also VERY STRONGLY advise you, when the Norton subscribtion is about to run out, there will be a little envelope Icon in the active Icons thing in the bottom right of the screen. DON'T click on that, as it will give you a very bad virus, directly comming for Norton's server.
  15. You can't do anything, it's on Jagex's side. You can see on the sticky in tech forum of the RSOF.

Lol I was quite lucky in an accident  Day: Septemper 11___________________2001, although I live in Canada. I don't have pictures unfortunately, but the car was scrap (Brand new Toyota..) and got sent to a junkyard, nothing was recuperable, and meh, didn't even have a scratch, neither my father and my brother(who if he had been sitting on the other side, would have had quite a few broken ribs).
  18. Actually, Camstudio has a really hard time saving the vids on my computer so I have to use Hypercam -.-
  19. LOL :P  I like this one, but I preffer the moving ones I can see on a few other forums :P
  20. My RSN is Sbrideau2000, pretty hard to guess  lol. By The way, good work putting the forums back up :).
  21. Well, On opera we see them, only they are not in image form, it's a picture box with the text in it instead of the smiley :P. Kinda nice to know the smileys ppl want to do when Others don't see them :P.
  22. No, vista is not the enemy, he/she just needs more RAM since Vista uses like 700 Mb or so memory. But 71 processes, that's an awfull lot! One trick is to do the startup thing on msconfig again, looking on google what the names on there means, and untick those that are not needed, that's what I do. Same with the processes in the Ctrl+Alt+Del (or faster way on vista: Ctrl+Shift+Escape), look at what the processes are on google. When I start the computer, I stop processes to free up some resources.
  23. A good thanks to the Tip.it Staff to have brought the forums back from that backstab. The forums come back stronger than ever!!!!
  24. lordkrohn1626, I'm all with you, you said a lot of truth. I have always been a rule folower so I still have 0 black marks. Also, there seems to have been a glitch because of them updating the system. some have less black marks, others have more. All that when the system got updated.
  25. And I think there are more as usually when mining runites in wild i don't see much revenants, but now i'm being attacked by them in almost every single world.
